Was the fan favorite WWE Game, WWE 2K19 really that good? Today I compare WWE 2K19 to WWE 2K24 to see if it holds up to the most recent entry in the WWE 2K series I hope you enjoy! TikTok - / realmarobrand Discord - / discord
@@vee2927 Collar & Elbow initial grapple is so arcadey and fake. Wrestlers only do that in the beginning of matches as a test of strength. If I didn't have the option to use the combo system for my grapple moves instead, I never would've bought any of the new games. Collar & Elbow is 🗑️
Yesss what’s even cooler about 2k19 is that the roster aged so well. A lot of major superstars who are now in AEW are in this game alongside huge wwe stars and it’s so cool to have. It almost feels like an aew vs wwe game when i play in 2024 if that makes sense
@@GreenDragon_57 no way, theres no replayability in recent 2ks, online lobbies are horrible, and dlc packs of people who shouldve been in the game to begin with, not to mention buggy universe mode
*BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND, BLOW MY MIND.* 2K19 was the last 2K game with the single button reversal. I do wish they brought that control system back. MyFaction would be more bearable with the old control scheme.
@TalkingCatFunShow 2k14 is better than 22-24 but reversal limits kinda ruined the game for me online. Also when someone gets a double reversal, you can't reverse for a while.
The main things that breaks immersion in latest 2k games are the weird mortal Kombat stance of wrestlers, the terrible shoulder to shoulder grab animation, and necessity of grabbing before every heavy moves even for the Irish whip. These are small details but plays a major role in immersion breaking
@@Art-of-Puppetry The only thing that sucks is the A.I won't do it. And it's amazing to me that you can actually control the speed of the walk. But then I have to ask why they even have this in the game if you're just forced into the fighting stance.
2K24 is probably the fastest game I dropped because how boring it got. I dropped 2K15 just as fast but that was because of how frustrating slow career mode was
Tbh 2k23 and 2k24 are only repayable in terms of matches with friends and MyRise mode other than that if you just wanna wild out from time to time then the current 2k games are for you but 2k19 despite its universe being dated and already bit boring still was a little bit enjoyable to play especially if you recreated WCW as an alternative to WWE makes me realize that 2k23 lacks so much when it comes to championships
Fr I just realize that I’ll probably drop 2k24 like 2k23 bc I got bored of it so easily and 2k24 is just 2k22 3.0. There just something missing in it for me personally
@@Dogking71 There’s no 2K Showcase, MyCareer mode was still relatively basic! There were gameplay changes but they were not on the level as 24! Honestly, I think 2k16 is better than 17!
@@noahtalley4351 Showcase was already stale by 16. MyCareer was an actual career mode that needed more emphasis on the career instead of becoming a linear story mode. The gameplay changes are better than 24's except for selling at the back portion of matches, blood, and weapon physics. 17 allowed for much more wrestling styles than just attitude era esq brawls and hardcore matches. 24's lack of chain wrestling, and all of the match aims going at a breakneck pace makes all matches feel the same unlike 17 which you can have wrestlers who do high flying, brawling, technical catch wrestling, hardcore battles. Just a lot more variety.
If people want a good wrestling game, don't buy WWE 2K25. If you want the decisionmakers at 2K to hear you, you gotta speak their language: money. Simply, stop giving it to them. Make them earn it.
The issue is, the majority of people are content with what they’re given, especially since majority of sales are from parents buying the game for their kids, kids think these new games are better than the OGs because “gRaPhIcS bAd”
@@RealMaroBRAND wait, are you talking about adding mods or creating them?? Im a modder for 2k19, its weird at first, but i tell you once you get it working, you might not ever leave. WWE 2k23 was my first 2k I got in years..i just got off of 2k19. Because of the modding community
Adding them, idk why but it almost never works for me even when I follow tutorials exactly. It’s a shame they make them so hard to mod, wish it was simple like modding Sims or Skyrim lol
I'm playing it this very second. Feels like a more advanced version of the AKI titles. People act as if the AKI games would look close to what they looked like in the late 90s, but Id argue that if AKI made games regularly throughout the years. it would be similar to this. The controls are also similar to that of the AKI games, and no combo, and whacky stances to boot. I also use cel-shading to give the game its own unique look. And if you turn off the hud it makes the game 10X better. Too bad 24 doesnt play as good as it looks graphically.
I'm enjoying 2K24, but I really miss the gameplay from '19. It had its' flaws, but I've never played a game that simulated an actual match more than this one. Whether I was looking to have a squash, or a quick 5 - 8 minute television match, all the way down to 15 minute PPV classic. The pacing was brilliant, and even with tweaked sliders, the newer games can't compare.
I remember having this game. What I don’t remember is what it had. I remember more what 2k15 and 16 had than 2k19. I just don’t see why people love it so much. I definitely think 2k24 is better than 2k19 by miles
2K24 isn't good. Now I don't know about 2K19. 24 is the first one I bought since 17. 2K24 is a disaster compared to 17. 2K should be ashamed to dare push DLC and My Faction for such a broken game.
@@Dogking71 exactly. It isn’t good. It’s great. Yes the DLC is a bit disappointing but if you actually give myfaction a chance it’s really fun. The gameplay is amazing. The roster is elite. 2k24 I think is the best wrestling game I have played
@@Danial_Amirghahari There's nothing on this planet that will get me to interact with the system that has been the death of all sports games. Anyone who interacts with those systems are cancers who enable corporations to continue to make these games worse.
@GamedayGlory-g8i Myfaction and the gameplay being amazing is where you lost me. How is the gameplay amazing when you have to guess to reverse? Then you got wrestlers bobbing and weaving, wrestlers don't bob and weave they duck and evade. The dodging is terrible, it needs to be revamped or removed, and the stun meter is broken.
@GamedaGlory-g8i WWE 2K24 isn’t a wrestling game; it’s just a fighting game. That might be why you liked it. Indeed, WWE 2K24 is the best current fighting game compared to UFC, where both are arcades and are only worth playing on Game Pass.
Yeah that's just not true homie, the newer gameplay of 2K24 is barely even pro wrestling, why is Blocking and Dodging in the game? it's basically a Fighter beat em up meets pro wrestling rather than an actual pro wrestling game, which is fine if you prefer that, but to say 2K19 is a worse PRO WRESTLING game is just incorrect
@@RealMaroBRAND Every thing you complained about in this video about 2k24 can be adjusted in the sliders / gameplay settings. the game is much more realistic when you have the right sliders. Also I didnt even notice blocking and dodging was in the game , the cpu never blocks only reverses for me . But seriously if you like the realism side of wwe look up some sliders videos and try it out
I was playing 2k24 the other day and I couldn’t help but complain on how boring the game was. My wife chimed in and said, “I haven’t seen you actually have fun playing your wrestling games. The only one I’ve seen you actually have fun with was the one with the annoying song that you got when we started dating.” She was 100 percent right. It’s not even that 2k19 was special or anything. I just don’t know what it is about that game!
@@user-rk8rx8fz3m the only good thing that came from that was the decent roster the community creations and The great himself ribbie he deserves to be in a good 2k wrestling game (also Cole quinn)
2K19 was made by Yuke's and Visual Concepts, after that year 2K Sports actually changed the game engine but the problem was that this game engine was not fully done (that's the reason why 2knba 20, wwe 2k20, etc were all buggy) I think that most likely the WWE 2K franchise will peak in the next 3 games until someone on 2K Sports make them actually change the game engine once again
@Alabsander Not to that guy but they didn't change the game engine here's why. You still see animations from 2k20 and 2k19. They just changed the reversal system and completely ruined it, added a terrible dodge system and the awful stun meter.
2k19 is leagues better than 2k24! More fluid gameplay. It feels worlds apart, the limb system in 19 gives me the vibe. Of actually being a technical submission wrestler, while 24 takes it away and leaves me feeling like I have to spam... Repeatedly to do any type of damage, without the selection to do it when viable. As well, it I play on legendary difficultly. The game still feels easy, like seriously wtf? 😂 2k19 I'm getting my head beat in. Which gives me a challenge I desire, without it being OP. Visuals are nice and all, but the over reliance of simulation bugs me. (2K24). My faction is awful in 2k24.
2K19 was also felt more alive. Looks at the Wrestlemania 30 stage. The screens and trons are animated it feels alive, the stages in 2K23 the stages have no moving or animated graphics and it just feels like a back wall everything is so dead
I had 2K19 as the goat then 2K24 came out and at first i thought this is tough deciding which is the better game and i almost gave it to 2K24 but then the patches started and would break random things especially the caws being bald and having to fix them managers being with the wrong wrestler and ect and then i would say ok 2K19 but its still very close and if 2K would patch and Fix 24 and fix it i would give it to 24 thats my opinion
I've only played 19 & 22 of the 2k series but I feel confident saying 2k19 is the best game by far. There's so much shit they had in that game that I miss & honestly I'd still be playing it now if I didn't give my copy to my cousin lol
I wouldn’t say it’s better 2k19 original without mods is equal the enjoyment of 2k24 with mods like bruh 2K24 is legendary it brought back memories of old storylines and not only that you can play both a ambulance match and a casket match 😁
God I still pray that one day the 2K19 servers would reopen so I could feel like a *GOD* again. Although I already feel bad enough that I didn’t play it online until the final 5 months, but I am glad to say though that playing it offline for so long helped me so much to train for those online matches and becoming one of the hottest 2K19 performers ever to never win a League Championship (post Styles Tower thing where you coulda won a million dollars). But honestly I still play 2K19 though for the created AEW wrestlers that never made it to the initial Fight Forever roster. But like I still yearn for the days of kicking absolute ass but at the same time having so much fun (especially with the Steel Cage matches that me and my then-friend did). Also to be honest this is practically the reason why I haven’t touched a 2K game since. I don’t care about 2K20, 2K22 or 2K23 and so on. You’ll never convince me that those games take as much skill and are as much fun as 2K19 was (and I was playing WWE games since SVR 2006). As of now though until the 2K19 servers are ever reopened (a man can dream), I am sticking with Fight Forever through and through. Thank you. Oh and 2K really fudged up trying to reinvent the wheel after 2K19. Super retarded AI and just nostalgia-baiting everyone into buying recent titles just like Madden.
Also shoutout to 2k14 for still being the number 2 GOAT. I still fire this up on my PS3 and still have a blast. If you still play it try these settings below, makes the matches unbelievably epic and fun. Normal difficulty Adrenaline off Reversal Damage off AI reversals, all sliders max Player Reversals, all sliders max Adrenaline consumption, 5/10 (even if off above) Finisher Damage, empty Weapon damage, max. Momentum charge in match settings always on Slow Match Pace always normal. For some reason these settings above give the AI maximum aggresiveness. They will always be on you, they will always try different things and the matches will be back & forth with tons of near falls.
It was. I think as far as the direction they were taking from 2K15 onward with starting to go for that more simulation style. This was the game that did it best and had a better balance between that simulation gameplay, with a little bit more arcade elements to it, and a hell of a focus towards presentation. I felt like I had a lot more control over matches and gameplay in this game than I do in 22, 23, or 24. It feels like they made moves less intuitive. Now you have to grapple somebody before Irish whipping them instead of just being able to do it organically. Locking certain moves behind the combo striking system seems unnecessary. It still had its flaws, there were still animation glitches, I would get weird audio glitches with the ring announcer, and other weird little things like that. But it didn't totally break things like universe mode like the new games do. Describe and man it also had such a stacked roster from like every era, and a lot of WCW representation. The only thing I really don't like about it is I still hate the mini game for submissions. I think under five times in owning this game and playing it for years straight did I ever make anybody tap out I remember getting 22 after skipping 20 because of all the bad press. And it grew on me but damn that game was a glitchy mess as well. I think everybody gave it a pass just because it wasn't quite as bad as 2K20 but I had a lot of stuff constantly breaking. Universe mode at a certain point would just totally screw things up to the point where I would have to restart it Stuff like backstage brawl was awesome in 2K19 because you could toss your opponent through the entrance area in the arena to get backstage. It wasn't just some separate mode And one last little thing that I hate about the new games, when you get close enough to your opponent and both wrestlers start doing a little fighting stance dance. Like they're Mortal Kombat characters at the menu or something.

2k19s submission mechanism is broken!! even after hitting non stop finishers and signatures you cannot tap out your opponent! Honestly 2k23s submission is the best.. 2k24 hs some issues in submission as well
When i was deep into 2k19 the only couple of things i hated was that the championship victories, pyro not going off because of a championship, lack of legends and actual arenas. I had to make my own caws and make smackdown 09, wm 25, wwf in 1993 etc. overall its my 2nd fav wwe game

When I got my ps5 I really loved playing wwe2k19 casually and also online. I really got addicted like back in the day. Now I get bored pretty quick and I can’t play any online matched without getting disconnected and everyone getting replaced by AI. Really annoying
as someone with nostalga with wwe 2k19, i remember the AI being very easy and 2k24 having much harder AI. (i play on legend in both games) i also find the new control scheme more interactive and less "autopiloty." I also never got cashed in on in a match and overall enjoy 2k24 more. Backstage and non stage/ring interactivity was much better in 2k19 however.
I disagree and agree with you on so many points. I feel the problem is the original developers watched wrestling and the new developers don’t, 2k19 is a wrestling game while 2k24 is a pretty good attempt at a non wrestling fan emulating what they think wrestling looks like. I think what I like more about 2k24 is the presentation an atmosphere, like every match feels worthy if that makes sense the selling of it is incredible and everyone’s entrance looks great, but the lack of fluidity and unique move sets really feels like a setback, I feel like 2k19 even the jobbers felt unique in there style while in 2k24 everyone is limited to like 5 things they do regularly and then 20 of the same things over and over again I feel like I’m having the same match in 2k24 every match witch is one of its biggest problems
I still play 2k19 today, it’s the last wrestling game I decided to buy and I love it. But I still can’t seem to figure out how to get the mid match cash in to work for me. Does anyone know what to do cause it’s greyed out for me. PLEASE HELP!
Its not that 2K19 is that good. Its more that 2K24 is more and more dogshit the more you play it. Matches have no psychology or flow. No technical wrestling or chain wrestling. Match Ai's only go at breakneck speed. That's not even getting to the watered down Creation Suite and the tragedy that is universe mode. 2K24 is bad in a way that you have to actually play through the game to understand.
11:06 you can actually win on top of the boxes lol. I literally just did it. Wwe 2k19 is not better than 2k24. There are so many things you can do in 2k24 that you cant do in 2k19. 2k19 is way easier than 2k24 on legend difficulty. If you adjust the sliders in 2k24 the difficulty is way better. You can also adjust the pin meter difficulty in 2k24 to make it extremely difficult. The only thing that I miss from 2k19 is being able to reverse with the trigger. 2k19 gameplay was in slow motion. And terrible with the limited reversals. You could just force the ai or user to use up their reversals and then hit your finisher. It was a cake walk. Terrible gameplay design.
you can also just turn off the reversal limit, and that's where 2k19 shines imo. also surprised you were able to get a win ontop of those, I tried again a few days ago and did a total of 10 spears on top of there and could not get a win, then just like in the vid, tried again standing on the ground and won instantly
@@RealMaroBRAND Playing with the reversal limit really teaches the skill and the match psychology of having to balance everything for you to take advantage of your opponent.
Trading blows can be initiating by either player. So one time was the AI initiating it and the other was you. Holding the punch button initiates it. You went back to 2K19 and I know it’s the game a lot of people went back to until 2K22 was released but I stuck with 2K20 because it had The Fiend and Rhea Ripley. I fucking hate how quickly people get up in 2K24. The other night I tried to put Randy Orton on a table and run up the ladder to jump off it but I couldn’t get Orton on the fucking table, I couldn’t get him to stay on the fucking table long enough to get in the ring and I couldn’t get Cody to set up the fucking ladder in a leaning position. Then when I do finally get it in position, the fucking ref walks into it and knocks the fucking ladder over. It’s infuriating trying to set up spots sometimes because the AI just does not cooperate and the things refuse to do what you want them to do.
@@RealMaroBRANDI never experienced the face texture disappearing glitches other people did, nor do I remember experiencing at any glitches. The 2K games are still just as glitchy now. I thought I was shit out of luck being able to play 2K24 at all after the Post Malone and Friends DLC pack came out because after playing the intro video, the game would load for like five minutes and I thought it was stuck in an infinite loading loop so I would quit out and play something else. Turns out I had to just wait and then sign the EULA and other things you have to sign when you first boot up the game.
like you said 2k24 is too easy. in my experience i can beat the ai like 85 percent of the time even with really hard sliders. which makes the game really hard to get into
I'm currently playing 2k24 universe without any automatic rivalries and booking every cutscene myself. I love that kind of freedom in Universe mode because it really lets you book everything the way you want and as of patch 1.16, everything works without any glitches or bugs. But man, even with perfectly fine tuned sliders and gameplay settings tailored to my taste, the wrestling suffers. It really does feel like a fighting game. It also has 2 really immersion breaking things, to me at least. AI never kicks out at 2.9, it's always either on 2 or 2.2. There are no true exciting near falls in this game. Only if you make the pin sliders easy as fuck for yourself and kickout in the last moment on purpose. If anyone knows a way to change this for the AI, please tell me how cause I've tried everything. The second thing is the refs, they take forever to go down for the count. There are moments where a pinfall should be on a 2 count and they're still getting down for the count. It looks stupid. 2k19 on the other hand is super fun by default in the gameplay department. If only 2k19 had 2k24 sliders and pin minigame customization it would be the absolute perfect wrestling game.

I'm probably the only person who didn't like 2K19 gameplay but that's just me preferring the arcadey style over the sim style. That said, I do agree with the difficulty and the laziness of modes 2K24 being awful, but that comes from just different devs since Yukes left 2K Games after 2K19.
I kinda disagree it's very much a simulation title so it definitely appeals to that side of wrestling but the system was done so well almost perfect I honestly miss the chain grappling system in that game
