I have SD and just cut my hair into a Afro. I used to straighten because anything else would cause it to come out easy. I went to get my thyroid checked, as well as any vitamin deficiency. I’m low on vitamin D and iron. Both can cause hair loss. Low iron can cut blood supply to the hair in order to save it for more important organs. Low iron can increase fungus on the body which we already have

I know this is an older video, but I recently had micro locs installed by way of mini twists, I also suffer from SD and scalp issues and this was a major concern for me with locs. Thank you for this video, it is a great help.

This was in my recommendations and I’m shocked you indicated you have SD I’m so use to seeing MANY scratching their scalp 😢. They all need to watch this video to control their flare ups and shampoo using your method of choice. You’re very knowledgeable 😊and your scalp is amazing

You out here with these science facts!! I love it! This was a great video thank you for uploading this. I have been told that I both do and dont have seborrheic dermatitis so I have been on and off using nizoral but I now know from watching your video that I was doing it wrong anyway lol! I was using it as the shampoo 🤦🏾‍♀️ somebody come help me haha! And I have not heard of MCT oil so I will definitely be looking into that. I don't put ANY oil on my scalp. Even thinking about it makes my scalp scream but I might give this a try! Thank you!!

You're welcome! I avoided oil for many years till I did my research and learned which ones I can use. Look out for next Sunday's video. That's where I go in depth on how I manage my seb derm with locs!

Lol when you pulled out the eco gel. I use that on my edge locs too. I feel like I used it for like 7-10 years when my hair was curly and my hair was fine

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching people wash locs and I loved seeing you deal with the front part of your hair, it looks very good. I use aloe juice in my water bottle with distilled water and essential oils as I have scalp psoriasis - I spray my scalp and my locs every so often (maybe twice a week) and that totally minimises the itch as well alas the flakes. Aloe Vera does plenty for me and I’m glad I’ve discovered it. T gel has also been really good for my scalp - deals with the flare ups when they arise - I don’t have it that bad to be fair but enough for me to take action. Great video, enjoyed watching you and the end result is fresh, I think I’m going to incorporate some kind of gel (aloe probably) in the front of my daughters Sisterlocks when I retie them as I think it will hold them for longer and create a fresher look. I’ll still interlock but I’ll use a bit of gel to swoop up the strays before I do. Thanks for the inspiration and stay blessed x

@RoseDAnnor 4 года назад
Thank you! I have recently purchased some aloe Vera gel to try out. I'll do some more reading into seb derm and aloe, see if it can provide similar relief!

Yep, I too can vouch for Aloe Vera Juice and T Gel shampoo. Since using these products (along with Rose water) I have seen my flaky scalp diminish into nothing. I wash every 1-2 weeks, I recently stretched it to 3 weeks and was good. Dont know why but it works for me.
@leeceyleece2406
@leeceyleece2406 4 года назад
MsAfrocomb1 how interesting is that 🧐. I’m so pleased to have come across someone else who has had the same positive experience. That seems to have been my wining formulae - T gel washes every 7-10 days and aloe juice in my mist bottle but applied to scalp as well as locs. It was so effective that I once forgot to wash my locs for 4 whole weeks and didn’t have a flake in sight, it was unheard of and pretty remarkable for me. Rosewater doesn’t seem to do much for me at all to be honest but I finally found a brand I liked the smell of. Aloe juice in my mist bottle softens my locs, clears my scalp, eradicated the itch and makes my hair shine. I can normally relax on the T gel once I’ve calmed a flare up. I feel as though it thickens my locs too which is weird, not in a bad way, just seems to make my locs more robust. Really pleased to read of your positive experience too.

My 3 yr old has a dry scalp from young. I used the Head and Shoulders on her last wash day and it's done better for her scalp, then I oiled her scalp with Hemp Oil. Iv'e tried alot of combo's :( I came here for your Locs, and learnt she has Seborrheic Dermatitis... Strange how the Doctors failed to diagnose this! I was meant to watch this, thank you so much for sharing the knowledge.. Going to look into the Nizoral and MCT oil. Appreciate this video!

Yes that's one type of MCT oil. Having SD means you'll always need to clean the scalp more frequently than others, but managing it well minimises many of the awful symptoms. Always aim the skin hydrated. Water & a humectant, sealed in with the oil

Hey girl 👋🏾 Thank you!!!!!! That info on the MCT oil is golden, I'm going to try it. I hate having a dry scalp but Lordhamercy, the way other oils flare up the flakes!! I use Nizoral too, that's the only thing that seems to really work. I saw another locd RU-vidr recommend an Antifungal, Probiotic bar soap called Candida Freedom and a lot of the reviews spoke of great results for seborrheic dermatitis. I just bought some off Amazon but haven't used it yet... fingers crossed. Have you noticed any difference in the "strength" of your front locs now that you palm roll them? I hate how interlocking doesn't give my edges that smooth look but you know how the loc rumor is that palm rolling microlocs makes them weak. But that smooth look is calling me! 😄
@RoseDAnnor
@RoseDAnnor 4 года назад
I haven't noticed any issues with weakness with Palm rolling, but I wouldn't do it on my full head. It works because some of my front hairs are too short and fine to interlock and I like how neat it looks. Good luck with the soap!!
