Also the purple thingy is called a mashta! It’s used in North Africa mainly to BRUSH hair but you can use it to massage if that helps too

I have the same texture and length to get my curls to stay I have to wear my hair like that for days. My hair would be wet inside the braid for days upon days. Or sit underneath a dryer. But your hair has to be dry

I think I have your hair type and it's on my hip level so I always do simple twist outs or just two section braids and let it dry the whole day and sometimes even add another day... so yeah give that a try! if you untwist or unbraid while damp, you literally just waste ur time

I feel ya sis. EVERY one's hairis different. There is NO blueprint on how and what to do for each person's hair health. Other than moisture, trims, protective styles...no extra chemicals... That's it... Obviously you're doing a FABULOUS job cause look at your hair... Kudos

Annoying thing about being black and having long hair: People assume it’s not your real hair... my hair reaches a few inches past my shoulders and I’m 11 and brown. I ✨ l o v e ✨ my hair and I want more black women to experiment with their hair and not just cover it up. Your hair is beautiful!!

I have a similar curl pattern and when I do twist outs I use flaxseed gel or The Mane Choice “ biotin gel”, I also braid the roots and twist each section in a different direction. This helps because our curls aren’t all going in the same direction, so that can cause the twist to look “weird”. Oh, and try to pull the hair tighter when you twist, I hope this helps you 🤍

I never cowash either. It serves no purpose to me, I don't give a dam what the community say. 😆😆 We must do what works for us and not what other ppl say to do. Alot of us follow trends. I'm that one who stays behind intentionally. I follow my own trend.

Literally the ONLY thing members of "the natural hair community" have in common is that we're not using chemicals to permanently alter the texture of our hair. That's IT. Beyond that, DO WHATEVER WORKS....and stop acting like somebody's going to punish you. Anybody who's got time to criticize your hair care choices needs to do something better with their time. 1) Back in the day, depending on how long I went between washes, NOT detangling with conditioner prior to shampooing was a recipe for disaster. And my hair texture is considerably tighter than yours. 2) Since I started following the Black Girl Curls hair care methodology in January, I have not deep-conditioned nor have I used any form of raw oil. My hair has NEVER been in better shape. Even my stylist says so. (I haven't had a dedicated stylist in YEARS.)

Girl aren’t your arms getting tired and sore after you’re done? Because my were of the length and the thickness 😩 Cuddos to your patients; beautiful hair. Twist outs never worked for me. I am over the natural hair journey. It is very time consuming and me personally don’t like anything that has to do with hair. If the shape of my head was nicely formed I would rock the Amber Rose hair style all day everyday. My head is shaped like a f$@!$ egg

I love the fact that you conditioned your hair then shampooed it. My hair gets super knotty when I shampoo it and I was thinking about reversing these stages myself, but you have served a great reminder to us all that nothing is black and white - we ALL have to find our OWN methods that work best for OUR own hair ❤️

I'm not convinced your hair is low porosity, there is such a thing as "medium porosity", and given how your hair responded to those products I think you're accepts things a moderate level and therefore can stay moisturized for longer with little effort. I've seen some one use the curling creme that has high porosity hair and I've used it and I have low porosity hair and your hair's response is closer to hers with high porosity. Also, your not needing deep conditioning or not seeing benefit from it doesn't follow for a low porosity person. I'm not saying this to attack you or anything! Just your video doesn't convince me that your labeling of your hair is correct. I'm not telling you what you're doing with your hair is wrong by any means. 🤗

Sorry hun, but you do not have low porosity hair. If you did, your hair would be Very dry & you would have to deep condition often. More importantly if you had low porosity hair when you put those products in your hair they would sit on top of your hair shaft, thus making your hair look white.... You have beautiful hair don’t try to sell yourself short by trying to seem like you have a hair struggle...you don’t

Beautiful hair! I’ve been doing twist outs on my 3c/4a hair for years now and honestly I find when u dry them well like under a dryer for a half an hour to an hour(low heat)and keep the twist in for a day or two or even longer, u get the best results.

I used to have hair down to my waist. I used to HATE washing it each week. So much hair shedding, detangling and warn out arms from washing, conditioning and deep conditioning in the shower. I would literally get overheated and would have to turn off the shower a few times to cool down and not pass out! LOL

Gorgeous Hair twin! I Love it! I do this every week after washing, and the style stays until next wash day. (o: Tip: Leave the twists in for a full day or two.. then unravel them gently and fluff!

I’m so glad to see a page where someone finally shampoos once a week like I do !! But in my experience twist outs need to dry over night and Bantu knots need to be done on dry hair . Otherwise those things don’t work .

I think your hair maybe too wet when start the twisting process, I perhaps wash your hair, section and detangle in the shower, THEN let your hair dry to about 40-60%, then apply conditioner then twist. My theory is Your hair is so silky and stretched from the weight of the water that once you twist your hair in that state, as you twist, the hair can’t grip and take full form of the twist because it’s already like a stretched rope. So maybe your hair should be fuller and coarser like when it’s not as wet so it can hold that twist.

I don't deep condition either. When I've tried, it just never did anything for me. No matter the brand or home DiY's. I do like to do a tea rinse when I notice my hair is shedding more than usual and always works like a charm.

I NEVER co wash but I do deep condition. I am low porosity too. My favorite deep conditioner is Camille Rose Algae Renew. It absorbs instantly! If you ever want to deep condition it is the best for low porosity.

What a beautiful hair. It'll be 2040 before my hair get anywhere near that length that is if I'm lucky. I'm soooo jealous 😫 I mean it. I have the worst possible combination of all hair textures. Thick, dense and coarse so it takes rubber to get the water to reach my scalp. Extremely porous!!! Even though it's thicker than a tropical forest, it dry up in less than 10 minutes and turn into a scrub. That is with layer of creams and butter. With out that it would turn into a rock. I have to moisture it twice daily to avoid it being scruby. Wash day is a nightmare!!!! Pre poo, clay mask, deep conditioning, protein conditioning. My hair will literally fight me if any of these steps are missing. It takes me at the bare minimum 5 hours minus the protective styling. You see me and my hair have a love hate relationship. She high maintenance and I'm too lazy so we found a compromise: crochet style.1 wash day a month or 2, moisture n oil every day. 30 min of breathing water every week. Now i can be lazy, she's growing like a wild fire while staying moist and strong. We all happy 😊
