Like Gordon705, I had trouble keeping the belt on the washer tub pulley. Gordon705 resorted to a zip tie. I used a vice grip pliers. Either way, you will probably need some form of assistance to keep the belt on the pulley as you rotate the tub pulley to bring the belt into place. Knowing this in advance will make this a lot smoother. Otherwise the repair went exactly as the video describes.
THANK YOU!! The video inspired me to do it myself. The new belt was much tighter than it seems in the video but Gordon705's ziptie trick worked perfectly. I wore a thin pair of nylon gardening gloves to protect my hands too - the rim of the panel opening is sharp. Thanks for inspiring me to GRLPWR!
Just a guess here, but i am guessing that a brand new belt was not used in the video as it was way too easy in the video to get the new one on. I did do it easy when I tried the worn out belt. With the new one, I reverted to using a screwdriver shaft to give me leverage to keep the belt on as I rotated the wheel. That extra leverage did the trick quickly. Otherwise I was struggling with the new tight belt to keep it on the big wheel.
THIS WAS SO INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO GET ON, I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE TO YOU THE POUNDING OF MY HEART AS I FINALLY GOT IT ON. I FELT LIKE I HAD JUST HAD A BABY, LITERALLY!! LOL. But now that it is on, I am noticing it not staying centered. The drum appears to be tilting back at the top, so it is angled, not straight up and down like the one looks in the video. Is this a problem, or could it be that I just have a slightly different model? 🤔
I think it was because I had a load in the machine 🙄. Anyway, the belt is not staying centered. I'm noticing the pulley slides in and out. Is the normal? And the the bolt comes loose.
Hi Steve, just a word to thank you for all of your very helpful videos. With your help I have saved money on costly repairs by doing it myself. Just this week I looked for a repair video to replace the bellows or door gasket on my GE front loader washer. I did not find a video on your channel, so my brother (the mechanic) came by to help. Well, my washer looked as if it was being overhauled! Nothing was intact but the drum! Afterwards the tub would not fill with water. Any idea on what's wrong?
No way did mine go this easy. New belts out of the box are smaller because they haven't broke in. I had to put a zip tie on the top pulley to hold it in place so I could keep it on the bottom pulley with 1 hand and turn the top pulley with the other hand. I cut the zip after it was in place then hand turned through a dozen rotations to true up the belt on the 2 pulleys. Still ended up bleeding from both hands. Your video did give me a great starting point though.

Awesome Video. Our Belt broke. I think it broke because the Drive Pulley (Very Large Wheel) is very wobbly and is loose (it can rock right to left without moving the washer tub). Is that a problem? It looks like your Drive Wheel was in place and was not wobbly. Thanks for your input
Hi Ian, the drive pulley needs to be tight on the shaft and if it were loose it would definitely fall off and could break. The required tightness varies from model to model, so if it's possible for you to check with the manufacturer regarding the appropriate specifications, that would be recommended to make sure you're not over or under tightening your drive pulley.
