In 2018 the Washington Capitals made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They took down the Columbus Blue Jackets in six games, four of them being overtime games. The Capitals then advanced to play the Pittsburgh Penguins and after years of anguish, finally advanced passed the second round and into the Eastern Conference Finals. The Washington Capitals had not made it that far in the playoffs since 1998. The Caps faced the Tampa Bay Lightning in the ECF and went through a grueling 7 game series. Of that series, the Caps won the first two games and lost the next three, which made games 5 and 7 elimination games if the Caps had lost. The Capitals prevailed and flew to Vegas to play the first year expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, in the Stanley Cup Final. And the rest was history...
