A great player..I still remember his heroics in 1977 series against West Indies used to listen live midnight cricket commentaries from radio pakistan.

I admired his batting during my childhood days, particularly the way he played against the top quality West Indian fast bowling. Certainly he made batting look so easy and it was very difficult to get him out as he seldom played any loose shots. Sometimes he also stunned his opponents with his classy spin bowling. Truly a great cricketer, he was !

Waseem was our dream cricketer in 70's and 80's. I remember to watch his games in Services ground as we had a school there....front of the ground. St. Mary's School. My father called him Viv Richards of Pakistan.

Never watched him play but, Wasim Raja was my dad's favorite player, and my dad also named his nephew Wasim after Wasim Raja. Ramiz Bhai the name is alive and there is a Wasim in Peshawar Pakistan :)

I remember first seeing Wasim Raja in the Benson and Hedges final vs India. I used to copy his unique bowling style.

I am 66 years senior citizen and still remember batting of great Waseem Hassan Raja, double Master against West Indies and India through transister commentry by Hassan Jalil. Missed him. May Allah Jal w shanhu, rest in his abode and peace.❤

There deserves to be a mention of Wasim Raja's leg-break bowling that helped to break many a partnership. He kept the tradition of Pakistani leg spin bowling alive, during the period between Mushtaq Mohammad and Abdul Qadir. Also one of the few Pakistani players who batted left-handed and bowled right-handed. There haven't been many of this kind produced by Pakistan (interestingly).

Really wasim bahi was Shaheed afradi of his time. An alrounder and was bating without any pressure . In front of him spinner and fast bowler was equal. Hard heater . I was young reading in middle class and listening cricket commentary through Radio Pakistan by Intikhab Alam and Muneer Hassan. May Allah bless him Jasnath ul Firdous

I remember him playing in 80s . We used to love his beard and his personality. May Allah grant him Jannah without any accountability.

I have seen him playing in services ground gulberg. We played against him from Dharampura gemkhana. He was dashing player. He was decent man. I always admired by his kit. Neat and clean player. Some cricket bigs done unjustice with him due to cricket politics. Allah give janat. Ameen.

Yaar aap apologetic hue yeh mujhe bhi aur shayad kisi ko bhi acha nahi laga hoga- haan main samajhta hoon aapki kashmakash aur mushkil magar jo deserve karta hai uske baare mein baat karna aur logon tak pahunchaana bhi zaroori hai. Believe he was one of my favorite pakistani cricketer whom i have watched and followed and i can assure you most people will agree with me that he didn't deserve the credit which was his due and you in your video explained in a very suttle way and i understand that because i have been closely involved in the cricketing circles both as a player and players friends and also rubbing shoulders with administrators and belonging from a sporting family and have seen many a talented player not getting their due credit just for their straightforwardness and lack of diplomacy which is in fact hypocrisy. I have seen him playing when i was very young and an ex indian allrounder who played english county too with whom i was pretty close said once that there are 2 players in pakistan whom he liked not just for their game and talent but for their nature and attitude one was zaheer abbas and the other one was waseem raja and it is a proven fact that no one likes straightforward people but any way thanks a lot for sharing some intimate information and i am sure you have filtered a lot so that no one gets offended because there are skeletons in every cupboard.

When India toured Pakistan under BishenSingh Bedi there was an issue when Mushtaq Mohammad As Captain of Pakistan had a serious issue with the IndianCaptain .It was Wasim Raja who said that his Captains stand was not in the spirit of the game and more so when Mushtaq Mohammad And Bishen Singh Bedi played together for the same county in UK.A fine attacking cricketer.Two fine talented cricketing brothers.GREAT.

Till date if he want some thing or if he need some thing he still ask me. And he fight with me alot aswell. My mom always tell him dont always ask your elder brother . Dear Rameez, he was great all rounder, I remember many occasions which are rememberable, Once when he opened bowling attack in Australia against West Indies in a triangular series, and Pakistan won the match.( he was great batsman, fielder and a very good fielder too)

Comparatively you are absolutely no match to the Great Legend Waseem Hassan Raja. What an attacking and dashing cricketer he was? I still remember the tour of West Indies where he beaten the hell out of the World’s most fiercest and formidable bowling attacks of the that era at their home grounds. He made 500+ runs in that series. My West Indian friends here in the United States still remember him and miss him dearly. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him a highest place in Janna. I remember Wasim Raja in the 70's before I moved to USA. I would always get excited when he would came on to bat, because I knew no matter what there will be firework. Whatever time he would spend on the crease he would entertain us. He was almost like Asif Iqbal, with a little more personality and style. I remember his unique stance of setting his left foot first on the crease. I did not hear his interview a great dean.I wonder how good commentator he would have been on Radio and TV, equal to or better than Rameez. He probably had command over English, since he was highly educated. May Allah grant him greater status in Jannat, Ameen

Was my most favorite cricket of that era. He was competing with Mushtaq Mohammed and for strange reason Mushtaq past his prime used to play ahead of Wasim, A Great player who didn't get opportunities in his prime.

My most favorite players of all time besides VIv and Saeed Anwar. I used to have his poster on the wall and copied his batting style at a young age. Never missed any of his innings on TV and always felt disappointed when he got out on nervous 90s, where he struggled the most. Truly a master class player. May he R.I.P

I remember a funny incident. Back in college 1980 or so in Karachi, Pakistan team was invited to a function in honor of Asif Iqbal who had just retired. As it used to happen in those days, students wanted autographs from them, Wasim Raja came to the mike and announced that the team will not be giving autographs but it will sign collective autographs on one sheet and the photocopies will be distributed by the organizers. Just as the organizers were debating amongst them selves he let go of a cackle and screamed out that it was a joke. The entire team gave autographs to hundreds of fans and without any airs. That’s how cricketers used to be.
