Most of the comments here are laughable 😂😂, a little research can save u. This is a Light attack and trainers aircraft which fits what we need now as a nation. Those complaining about it being a propeller aircraft, search for the “AT-802” being repurposed for the US military. The aircraft is an Air Tractor for agriculture purposes. Note that Armies buy what’s needed . They have limited budgets. No need to spend on equipment that will be worshipped with no impact. I’ve said my piece ( research )

Operating cost of this Aircraft(Super Tucano) $1,500 per flight hour, (f-16, Mig 29) approximately $8,000 to $25,000 per flight hour, F22 has been quoted at $70,000 per hour. I see most people ignorantly commenting and rubbishing the aircraft just because they see a small aircraft with propeller. First of all this is a light attack aircraft a very capable aircraft for Ghana currently. Countries and militaries buy aircraft for a purpose not just to own the latest one in town. Currently Ghana is not facing any national security threat that requires all the expensive and flashy jest most of you are mentioning in the comments. The possible threat we face is terrorism, terrorist in small groups in forest, etc and a light attack aircraft is the best economical and capable option for this. Do we even know the price of 1 ammunition from all the F16's, f22's, etc that most of you are mentioning. Also do we know the cost of operating these Aircrafts per hour...all these are considered in choosing aircraft for a military. Lastly this Aicraft is fairly new only flown first time in 1999 in military and aircraft this is a fairly current date. Ghana is better of spending on infrastructure than buying Aircrafts that will never taste war.

Power respects power. America chooses her words and actions carefully when dealing with Russia and China. It's all because they all have powerful militaries. Aircrafts are not boxes of biscuits you walk into to a shop to buy when you need them. It takes time to have them built and delivered and in some cases extensive training spanning months is required to fly. If the Ukrainians knew they were going to be attacked in 2022 despite their 2014 encounter with Russia, they would have prepared better than they did. Thinking ahead to suit various scenarios is PLANNING.

Like I said you buy Aircrafts based on your current threat levels not because you heard of fancy Aircraft names. Which government will buy aircraft that will becoming sitting ducks and burning money on operating and maintenance cost. Alguns pro Afeganistáo durante a época da ocupação e foram entregues á então FA Afegã, e outros pra uso como patrulha na Fronteira com o México pela Guarda Aérea Nacional. O fator foi mesmo o custo operacional da hora de voo ser muito abaixo de um avião a jato e o Tucano como avião de patrulha ou de ataque leve é perfeito. Ideal pro Afeganistão que tinha zero defesa aérea

@@eddiedankie I know , they were training young pilots with the Diamond aircraft, one had an accident and they wanted to convert into a surveillance aircraft. Even Ziplines drones could be contracted to provide surveillance images but we won't accept

Thos jets are a blackhole considering the fact we are not at war and don't have much money not a good decision to own them, also owning 1 is not only about the money but comes with lot of diplomacy and alignments geo politically. Countries don't buy Aircrafts like cars the price of 1 is cheaper than long term maintenance. which do you prefer Governement spend most of our budget maintaining expensive aircraft which will never be used to full capability or building roads? O Brasil utiliza muito desta aeronave A29 super tucano. Muito barato e eficiente em ataque ao solo e patrulha aérea e de território, não requer de grandes infraestruturas para obter como galpões e pistas. Mesmo em estradas esburacadas o super tucano consegue decolar e pousar.

You only know about the fancy names but not the details. All these Aircrafts you mentioned are very expensive to buy and maintain. Countries and militaries buy aircraft based on a need including (Russia and USA) and every aircraft has its special purpose. WHat do you prefer expensive Aircrafts with huge maintenance cost that wont see war and takes chunk of Ghana's budget or that money used for infrastructure projects? Do a little research and you will know these light attack aircraft are great for small economies and countries like Ghana in peace time. Lastly the immediate threat Ghana is likely to face is terrorism and insurgency and super tucano is the right tool for the job

Like I said the current threat Ghana can possibly face is insurgent groups like Boko haram, etc. This Aircraft fit perfect to deal with insurgency. Why waste money to buy an expensive capable Machine you will never use. Will you buy a Ferari living in a town with untarerd roads? Can Ghana Economy sustain the maintenance and operational cost of the Aircrafts you mentioned. Gov n Military takes these in consideration before making a purchase I gave you figures that should give you a clue In any case this aircraft has countermeasures like flares

The countries dealing with insurgency and terrorism. Not every military needs a jet engine fighter jets based on the type of national security threat the country faces and in the case of Ghana what we are likely to face is insurgency and this is the right aircraft for the job light attack aircraft
