Miu was raised in Romania until his late teens, I believe Romania had a revolution and was under communist control during his youth. I read his Romanian family came to America when he was almost 18, as political refugees. His way of filtering stress maybe adversely effected from the jump. I found his facial expressions and body language to be very odd.
yes, and also, maybe he is not raised to "tell a teacher when someone bullies you" and doesn't put up with being abused and threatened. People expected him to run away crying to mommy and allow the bullies to continue their harassment and abuse. If he done that and reported the abuse, would authorities have done anything? I HATE rhat he used a knife, and there is a loss of life. With all those bullies surrounding him, bullying him, it could have also gone the other way. It's all horrible.

@@gameaddict-9873 The jury apparently decided that Miu started the fight by striking Madison Coen. In any event, he had every opportunity to walk away; he was never surrounded or pursued. Or he could at least have explained what he was doing. The key fact, of course, is that he decided to lie to the police and pretend he wasn’t involved at all. “I didn’t do it, but if I did it was self-defense” is never going to fly with a jury without a damn convincing explanation. Also, the fact that he ditched the knife really hurt him, because that’s not what you’d do if you felt that more attacks might be coming (as his attorneys suggested, e.g., with regard to the baseball bat guy).
Wisconsin uses weird names for homicide offenses. He was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide, which, translating into more accustomed terminology, appears to be an aggravated form of manslaughter.
They were drunk teenagers egged on by the comment made by the defendant that he was looking for little girls. They said mean things in response. However, there is no amount of name calling that justifies stabbing 5 people and killing one. After the first stabbing you walk away and call the police. You don’t throw the weapon away and act as if nothing happened. He is guilty of murder and then some.

From the video I saw a bunch of young adults surrounded this man, accused him of being a sex offender, accused him of hitting a woman, than threw him to the ground, and started beating on him. Now I don’t know the full context of the situation. But from the video it does not bold well for the prosecutions case.

He doesn’t know if 13 kids are going to kill him he has to defend himself I don’t think he needed to stab more then one he was alone who knows what could of happened if he didn’t defend himself
I think they provoked him, but mostly they were just telling him to leave, which he could have done any time. It’s a shame that Miu’s likely to spend the rest of his life locked up, but the jury was right to reject his affirmative defense. We simply can’t have a society in which every little skirmish can turn into a multiple stabbing without legal consequences.
I get that the kids have inconsistent stories, and that once the chaos broke out, all bets were off, but at the end of the day the kids told the man to go away multiple times. He didn't leave and continued to rummage through their tubes, and as a result, a mother is without her son and many others are left traumatized. Guilty to me.

They were not close and tried to get over there. Why did he charge the tubes in the first place? These people’s behavior was horrible, but he’s not blameless.
I would bet anything that after he hit the women, if someone had punched him one time (in self defense) and had he fallen and hit his head on a rock ( leading to his death), then that person would be in jail for murder. Yet he may not serve jail time after lurking around teens and maming 5-6 of them. This man ( supposedly frail and old) walked up stream in water a long distance ( walking in water is hard and upstream is even harder), then ran up and lunged at kids, hit one, stabbed 5-6, killed 1, and then walked back to his group hundreds of feet away, got dressed, then tried to leave, clean the knife in water while walking back, toss the knife in the trail, then lie to cops (and his friends) and pretend he knew nothing about the incident. No frail old man does that. 1) 54 is middle aged and NOT old, 2) the cardiopulmonary endurance it takes to do all of that is huge and he did it just fine. So they can stop with the frail old man line. The teens had a suspicion about him being unsafe and they were right because of what happened which was 80% his fault. As the adult he should have known better. This man tried to leave the scene of a Friday the 13th movie. Defense needs to call a medical professional to testify as the fitness it takes to do all of this.
