And if we're talking about 120fps then they'd have to drop the resolution down to 720-900p probably but no developers gonna do that. The 3 modes I mentioned are doable if done correctly by Ubisoft

Yeah, We have benchmarks now with two games made for new hardware. Demon's souls and Miles Morales. I will judge every new game compared to those two that basically has no loading except for the little time that it takes to boot the games up.

I wonder if on a 4k tv/monitor it looks bettere because right now between all the PS5 games(Demon's,Spiderman Miles and Remastered,Valhalla,Immortals Fenyx) is the only one that feels old gen both in terms of graphics and performance. PS: Demon's Souls and Spiderman just "ruin" my eyes because they are so gorgeus that now everything else compared feels old

Am playing on 4K tv but not at 120hz. Can’t wait to see what they can do with the hardware this gen and hope it’s not just ray tracing in puddles! 😂

@@Mens_Rea I started playing legion on a 49 inch 4k tv on a base ps4 and it looked blurry to all hell and the performance was ok, then got a ps5 and dear me everything looked so much clearer and better

Yup. I was very disappointed when I ran the game on the Series X and saw it was 30. To be VERY honest, I could hardly tell the difference between the game running on my One X and the Series X because of 30fps. The Ray Tracing is barely even noticeable.

Trust me i sacrificed resolution all together for FPS and RT on Spiderman and Demons Souls and the same goes for AC Valhalla. It's really a shame to see a next gen game on a next gen console where every other game runs at 60fps this one runs at 30... Add the fucking option already. I bought the game and it's just sitting there because of it...

deamon souls and godfall are running at 1440p 60 temporally upscaled to 4k. i hope more current gen games follow this standard rather than native 4k 30.

locked 1440p would be okay for 1440p monitors, for 4k tvs it's terrible, dynamic or checkerboard res would be fine for everyone.

30fps in itself isn't the issue, it's that this game should be running way better than that.

@Worldchamp 12 these consoles hit 60 fps and even 120 fps on many cross gen games. Unlike ps4 and xbox one these next Gen machines are very similar to high end PCs. Ubisoft probably didn't want to do a lot of work in optimizations

Optimise them? Optimise them for what? These consoles aren't some obscure architecture. The PS5 doesn't have an Emotion Engine or CELL Broadband Engine. At their core both consoles are X86 PC hardware. There's really little to no new programming tricks to be learned, almost all of the performance that could be squeezed out of these consoles already is being. Look at the PS3 launch titles and compare them to the later years, none of them compare to The Last of Us. Meanwhile the Xbox One got one of the best looking titles it would ever get day 1 with Ryse Son of Rome.

@@jimbob4372 these are launch games, and the XSX dev kits came out later, once devs start using the full RDNA 2 feature set and have more time with the XSX dev kits we will see the XSX versions of multiplat games pull ahead of what the PS5 can do, also many tech sites are saying the issues the PS5 are having are due to the overclocking, this might mean Sony will have to downgrade the systems to stop these issues so DF will need to comeback and run these comparisons again once the PS5 systems stop bricking themselves

Not many like this, but there still will be the odd game that goes for a more graphics over performance style, especially if it has Ray Tracing. I LOVE High fps so I am excited so many games run at 60 now and some even 120fps! (DIRT 5, COD and The Falconer)

They released a video explaining how they do pixel counting at one point in the past.

You can see it as % of X or Y native 4K resolution, anyway I don't like it!

I agree. Miles Morales is pretty amazing. I really enjoy both performance and fidelity mode in that game. I wish dev will release a new mode - 1080p 60fps with ray tracing. I heard Imsomniac is considering this.

Good luck waiting for a PC analysis from these guys. Alex the “PC guy” has been cranking out multiple redundant console content and sponsored CoD videos. This is while new CPUs and GPUs by AMD and Nvidia just hit the market. No PC coverage of CoD, Valhalla, or Godfall(probably for the best). I get that they are busy, and I love the work DF does, but redundancy is what bothers me.

And i have only listed all the on-paper stuff, and not any of the custom stuff like the IO complexion of the PS5 or the tempest engine. All things thar handle tasks that are otherwise done by CPU freeing up CPU cycle on the PS5. Most people dismiss stuff like this because they dont understand them. Dynamic resolution is usually a setting in a game. If you don't see it that's a little weird and maybe it's not an option. I've seen it in quite a few games.

The 30fps lock in Watch Dog's Legions is simple, Both Valhalla and Legions are MS marketed games and to ensure Series X would not get out performed by PS5 the developers aimed for parity. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the public out cry from console fans that Valhalla have a 60fps option it would also be set 30fps because THAT'S WHAT UBISOFT ORIGINALLY ANNOUNCED! So, if you want to know why this game doesn't have a 60fps mode...it's for parity between the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Performance on Valhalla between PS5 and Series X would have also been the same if developers were not forced to push them up to a 60fps target.

Metroid Prime was flawless 60 fps (also on PAL), same as Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii and others which stand the test of time because of their high frame rates and their great art design. 60 fps is becoming the standard for console gaming AGAIN.

So there is not need to go that high because I'm a lot of cases, such as using SLI, you get nothing in return or in many cases, Less Performance. You could argue in pure cpu performance leveraging zen 2, 16gb of system memory and a custom ssd, which no amount of money will get you anything like it on pc, in terms of gaming can be comparable to it. It's not far fetched. Many 2k pcs have zen2, like the ps5, have high end gpus, like the ps5, performance similar like the ps5. In terms of next gen games however, they have a point. Nothing a 2k pc can do is going to play Spiderman or demon souls today. A 2k pc today CANNOT play them, they aren't as fast as the ps5 in terms of loading in data assets. A 2k pc in essence, is too slow for ps5 games. Isn't that hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
