@@MH-zg5yw All I got from them when I inquired was "your insurance doesn't cover it". United healthcare initially declined my Medtronic system but I got it after the Endocrinologist followed up on it. They weren't very interested or determined or helpful let's say!

I graduate from Nursing School in 1981 (been a Nurse for 42 years). When doing clinical making morning rounds checking the Patients urine for high glucose & Acetones, I complained to the Very Senior (old) Instructor of the I had to take Urine Dip strips on 14 of the 20 unit patients. The instructor said to me: "You think you have it rough, in my Nursing training we had to put the open cup of urine on the window seal to see if a Fly would land on the urine. To see if they had a high urine sugar." Things have gone a long way of improvement:-) Just want to say: I Loved your video... Thanks for sharing. Go Eversense

Thank you Docs! Having used Dex since the G4's with my Animas Vibe and then migrated over to the Tandem X2...I'm one who's experienced serious loss of accuracy over the last 10 months or so on the G6. So I've become skeptical of the Dex/Tandem algorithms. That's another story. The Eversense lines look quite intriguing even if I lose Control IQ. I'll see if and when the updates come and see how folks do with the G7 but...the Eversense seems better on quite a few fronts

Michael, I switched to the Eversense a little over a year ago because of the inaccuracy of the Dex 6 and Tandem. Accuracy improved dramatically. No problems losing Control IQ. No more yo-yoing because of false readings. I will advise, make sure your meter is relatvely new and a good one; calibrations are so important. I will say I usually end up calibrating more than the once or twice they suggest is the norm. But I'm so in range now, always above 70%, mostly in the 80's or 90's. Did have problems finding a Dr to insert that takes medicare, but if you are younger than that you should have no problem. Have had to switch my sensor or hook up cord once or twice, but equipment problems are so much less than Dexcom. Good luck

How often do you have to finger stick for calibration?

@@garrycook5588 for the G6 I do it immediately as it completes warm up after initial startup or a restart that is 100% of the time because that's one it's most frequently out of range. I do a finger stick every 24 to 48 hours unless I'm fairly certain it's off.

You’re not the only person who made that comment...I regret not showing the actual incision. Some people pass out at the sight of blood and there may have been a tiny drop of blood with the incision, but next time we’ll show blood and guts just for you!

I have been T1D for about 25 years and use a Dexcom. Even though I love having a sensor, I am terrified of the insertion and it is the bane of my existence. The eversense seems like it would make my life a lot easier.

It's an easy process Ashley, and all the folks who do the insertions are well trained in the process. Whichever way you go, both systems are awesome.

@@TCOYDtv Thank you! Maybe I should have clarified in my comment, but it’s the Dexcom insertion that I’m scared of. I know it’s designed to be simple, but I have a huge phobia of it. I feel like going into the office twice a year for the Eversense insertion would make my life a lot easier.

The Dexcom insertion had me slightly worried at first and I was pleasantly surprised that nothing was felt nor has ever been felt from that first time. i am much much more reserved about having a medical procedure to insert something under my skin. So no thanks, I'll stick with my Dexcom.

Eversense, which has an excellent sensor, is now looking for a pump partner. There has not been an official announcement yet, but hopefully it will come soon. Tandem has already partnered with Dexcom and FreeStyle Libre and it does take a lot of software integration every time they integrate with another sensor. It may be a different pump for Eversense, but at this point we just don't know.

Hi Doctors, I have the eversense cgm for over 2 years (4 implants). It was interesting to see the insertion process. Exactly how my doctor did it. No problems at all. Real easy and almost painless. Yes, an extremely accurate system and simple to operate and to adapt to. My BIG issue and my reason to get off this system is the removal process. Every time I came in to replace the sensor it took two visits and about 30 minute a visit to find and remove the sensor leaving me with a painful and bothersome upper arm for about a month. The sensor seems to move under the skin and was not always found in the same position as when inserted. I would very much like to hear about your removal experiences. Do you have a special method? Specific tools? What are your patients complaints, if any? Personally, I am waiting for the 365 day sensor. one month a year versus two months recuperation (not to mention the "ladder rung" scars going up my arms. I am starting to look like a veteran staff sergeant with an armful of stripes) Love too hear from you. Thanks.

Yes, the removal is generally more difficult than the insertion, and your situation is not completely uncommon. You could always try a different practitioner if you think that is part of the issue, and they may be able to use an ultrasound device or something similar to find the sensor if that is an issue. Ultimately, we agree. The 365 day sensor is going to be a game changer.

The Eversense CGM does not currently communicate with pumps, but hopefully it will in the not too distant future.

Due to the large size of the transmitter and the fact that there is no integration with the Tandem T:SLIM X2 Insulin pump (Control-IQ), I think the Dexcom G6 is the better option. And once the Dexcom G7 is available (and Tandem updates Control-IQ via a software update) it will be an even better option compared to the E3. But to each their own...

That's the nice thing about options...each system offers different features, and for many people, this CGM will be what works best for them. It's a very accurate system and nice for people who are sensitive to certain adhesives.

When you change this sensor do you put the new sensor in the same pocket ?

Typically you will switch arms when you have a new sensor inserted.

What happens if the device is left in the arm longer than 6 months? Could it cause medical complications, corrosion in the arm due to the makeup of the device or would it just fail?

They just completes a one-year study, and the company is waiting on FDA approval any month now, and there were absolutely no safety issues at all.

@@TCOYDtv one other negative about having diabetes is that in most cases people do not heal well when they are either injured or have surgical things done to them like the partial incision that is done…. I had lidocaine and some thing removed on the skin surface and weeks on end it’s still not healed and is sensitive. that’s what worries me still.

The Eversense E3 CGM requires two calibrations per day with a finger stick measurement for three weeks, and then you only have to calibrate once a day.

Yes, type 1 patients can have kidney disease. Thank you, this has great content. The CGM and CDK issue. I've had ongoing problems with the two types that I've used that they will not read accurately, which I highly depend on their readings, they'll be reading 250 but my finger stick reads 125, or I'll be woken up at night with a low alarm @ 45 but my actual reading will be 150. After 50+ years as a T,1 I no longer sense my low levels. I can say that my current G7 stays consistent, but always looking for anything better. Thanks again. @@TCOYDtv 🙏🙏🙏

Would there be any problems with TSA, MRIs, etc? Also, any build up of scar tissue with the removal and replacement of the transmitter?

No problems going to TSA, you can keep the transmitter on. Regarding MRIs, just remove transmitter prior to the procedure, and you can put it back on right after.
