Another perspective: it looked like one of the group did ask if they all could do a group photo, and the guard was cool with it, with one of them getting a horse 🐴 kiss.
I'm sure if the horse could talk he was saying to the two little girls in pink dresses..you can stroke me if you like! They certainly know the small children have more respect than some idiot adults ❤️
As the guard was walking from one sentry box to the other the light momentarily reflected his red plume onto the tip of his sword. It made it look like he’d been skewering some of the more ignorant and disrespectful tourists. To be fair, if there’s a sign saying horses “may” bite then there should also be one saying the guards “may” make a tourist kebab if they insist on being annoying and idiotic.
Those disrespectful tourist shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the King's Guard nor their horses. These Guards aren't their for photo opts. They're working. All those tourists that have to put their hands by the horses mouth ought to get bit. I thought Americans were disrespectful and rude but there's a few countries that are worse.
Mostly they are groups with competing tourist guide companies , arriving to coincide with events in the squares. You can go and find it as it was years ago and it's lovely to see.
Talking to my mother last week who is 95 she told me she had heard about the tourists issue, when we were young often got taken up to see the guards in those days a lot more diff troops. One thing she told me, and would like to know if it’s true. The horses name, starting letter was based on their birth date, anybody know about this???
I live in the United States and have never seen anyone touch the horse of a mounted police without asking. Most always the person is told no because the horse is working. This should be the same for the kings horses. 💜
Different Country and a different approach to dealing with the public and irritating tourists. In places like Iraq or Afghanistan these Troopers would be in their armoured reconnaissance vehicles (light tanks) patrolling civilian areas where much of the time was engaged on "hearts and minds" with local people, who you would prefer them not to think of you as their invader. However, there is a line that the Troopers will not permit the tourists to cross and that includes touching them, or the reins of their mount, or getting behind them in the box. If you know what to look for, some of these troopers have "parachute" wings, therefore they are nobody's fools. Anyway, it's a nice day, the Public are clearly enjoying themselves and most do not behave like complete idiots, so it's a bit of "let live" until the whole Troop can go to the Holkham beaches in Norfolk and play (as they do) twice a year on the sand and in the water. RU-vid : Holkham Beach & Household Cavalry or "Household Cavalry at Yellowcraig Beach Scotland 7 and 9 July 2023", it may surprise you.
People should not be allowed anywhere near the horses, should not be allowed to touch them because who knows what germs are being passed onto them. There should be a clear barrier around the horses for the people not to cross. It's about time the powers that be put this into motion for the safety of our guards and horses.
@AnnieH-1 my thought is what if someone wants to intentionally harm the horse, with something on their hands and encouraging them to lick their hands.
@@phyl1042. Would you want to go before an English Jury if you hurt an animal? Let alone one of the Kings Horses? I bet it wouldn’t be pleasant as a defendant.😊
This is an old video from the end of last week. Saw it on another channel, it was damp and wet in london today with nearly everyone with coats on and temp about 16°C.
There needs to be lines marked on the pavement and Do Not Cross this line signs. The gaurds and horses need space to do there jobs and with all the people touching the horse's the gaurds are distracted from there duty. They have to keep an eye on there horse's because of stupid tourist. Horse's would settle more if tourists did not touch them.
I will NEVER understand WHY some people have to touch the poor horse i wonder how they would feel having HUNDREDS of people touching their bodies or face
@@ginettechiverton7113 • Funny how you chose not to answer my simple question with the "American" spelling of the British "guard." I can't help but think that you don't actually know how Americans spell the word, but assume that because Americans don't use "u" after the "o" in words ending "-our," that there is no use of the letter "u" in combination with another vowel in American English. I think that's a false assumption. I have seen many people on these videos mis-spell guards as "gaurds," but that's a very common spelling mistake, and not confined to Americans. I have not seen anyone spell the word as "gard," despite Americans sometimes posting comments on these videos. Of course, I may be completely wrong, and they do spell the word as "gard." 🙂
