Didn’t send them to school because she didn’t want to see them cry but torture by her and her boyfriend, that’s ok. Nothing but contradictions by Katrina. You can hear the frustration by the prosecutor. She’s just as guilty, if not more.
She did not send the girls to school, because she did not want the schools to see Mercedes bruised and abused going on.. She knew her other daughter Jordan would probably report them to what they were doing to Mercedes. Thats probably why she kept them away from her own family also they repoerted her to CPS also. Both of these little girls were failed by almost everyone. The neighbors literally told the police repeatedly that Mercedes was being abused and of the cries they heard and everytime the cops did NOTHING!!! CPS was called multiple times and they also failed these girls. Of course this monster Ruiz is responsible for her death, but cps needs to be held accountable!! Most of the time CPS is NOT held accountable and that's why they don't care sometimes. There are some good cps workers but not many. How this cow can sit up there and laugh when discussing her daughters date of passing is crazy to me

Female neighbor said she called "multiple" times but then said 2. Neither time did the cops go inside or confront them. Why did they stop calling?? Please everyone don't stop calling just because they didn't respond the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, time. Please never give up on a child's cry for help. We hear this over and over. People knew what was happening.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it triggered rage in her when she heard it. She had clear disdain for her youngest daughter and hearing that voice/crying again probably just really pissed her off. But she shows zero emotion so we wouldn't be able to tell one way or another from the stand.
That tape made me cry and made me sick to my stomach. She was stone faced during that. She told sooo many lies on the stand when being cross examined. Her arrogance was on full display. She wasn't just thoughtlessly neglectful, she is an outright sadist. She thought nothing of those children. Eventually Jordynn would have become her primary target. I don't understand why people in her family didn't insist on keeping the girls. Let her call the cops. Let them get involved. If she didn't fight fir Mercedes she wouldn't have fought for them. I started watching her testimony thinking she might have been a victim, but she ended up convincing me she was an active participant. 45 years is not enough. I hope she does every single day but it's still never going to be enough.
Which nursing home did these defence lawyers come out of??? Omg the judge won’t give the prosecution 30 seconds to collect their thoughts but the defence can take forever discussing what to ask and ask the same question that was already sustained or answered.
Yes, I’m a senior citizen and I think sometimes it just time to retire. The next day, the defense lawyer had a low blood sugar episode and had to be carried out on a stretcher. If her diabetes is that serious, she should be prepared and not put herself in such stressful and demanding situations. And yes, I’m diabetic. Worse than that, this monster may just have a case for incompetent defense

I noticed that, too. Prosecutors had zero seconds in between questions. I had never seen this judge so irritated before this trial. The defense was a hot mess. Primarily Ms. Theresa. If he went to the judge for sentencing, he would have gotten life also, in my opinion.
I found her very annoying. She kept asking the same question after the prosecutor's objections were sustained. I felt for the judge. She did a good job. But she was the best lawyer we could have hoped for Ruiz. A better lawyer might have gotten him less time.
If Katrina was so afraid of CPS taking her children,she would have had enough sense to go to the police. She probably couldn’t do that as she was also the abuser 😡

She also said she took her kid to the pediatrician at TVMC and her daughter to the Baptist ER (I’m assuming she means either Mission Trails or Zarzamora neighborhood Baptist) but she took her also to TVMC the night she passed. Hearing Mercedes' brave little voice just broke me. I don't know where she and her big sister Jordan got their courage and intelligence, but it certainly wasn't from the maternal side.
It broke my heart too because she’s pleading with him and telling him she can’t anymore. He made her feel so inadequate that she was mad and frustrated with herself. Poor baby.

I read the bio father and his family spoke with the news. They stated she abused Mercedes since she was a baby. They didn’t understand as she did not abuse their older granddaughter, her daughter Jordan. They say they contacted CPS and nothing was done. They also said after this monster left the bio father, every guy she hooked up abused Mercedes with her!!! It was only 3 or 4 months she had been hooking up with THIS monster that upped the abuse to torture which caused her death. The bio father said he last saw his girls in October and it seems that when she moved in with this Monster!
She recites a laundry list of horrific punishments Jose inflicted on Mercedes, IN HER PRESENCE, like she’s reeling off a shopping list. She’s worse than he is because she handed him her child on a platter & just stood by & allowed him to torture her repeatedly, for days. Then she sent Mercedes with him to be punished, on her own, for a ‘sleepover’ KNOWING his methods. A mother protects their children & does anything possible to keep them safe, secure & happy. She conceived, carried & gave birth but she IS NOT a mother. There are no words to adequately describe such evil. Her actions & inactions are inconceivable to me. RIP poor, sweet Mercedes.💔😢🌹
The dementia unit residents went out on a day trip and accidentally arrived at this trial. The opening was a dizzy-aster for def atty. The strategy as I see it was blame CPS.
@@janmurr8447If CPS was really called as many times as it appears they were, and they just talked to the parent (who had obvious reasons to lie and deceive) without even looking at or speaking to the kids that were supposedly being abused, and said "Ok All good here!" and repeatedly just closed the cases.. If all that is true, I would say CPS should definitely have some accountability here. Now that's completely separate from the responsibility of their mother, she's absolutely to blame for her daughter's death just as much if not more than he is. But how many cases have we seen where cps was called over and over again and they did nothing, and a child ended up dead?

What a horrible traumatic life she must have led. I know Judge Boyd is waiting for the verdict in this trial before sentencing Katrina but just from the way she is describing the injuries to this child is horrific. I certainly hope that she doesn’t think testifying absolves from letting this happen. I hope Judge Boyd gives her the maximum under her plea. The inmates will take care of both of the vermin.

They both beat her and her mom officially killed her shoving something down her throat, I doubt the older daughter would lie about that, she was the only one there. @@MMO_10I think they were both the charged with the SAME CHARGES. They ALMOST ALWAYS have to make a deal with the devil in order for both to be found guilty. If they didn’t make a plea deal, the defense would blame the other! Each jury could find them NOT guilty depending on how the DA makes them believe the other is at fault. The first one that takes the offer gets the deal. Her plea deal is IF she testifies truthfully, she will be sentenced to no more than 45 years!! I hope the Judge sentences her to all 45 years and I think she will after hearing Jordan say her mom abused Mercedes too! And she allowed this monster to abuse her daughter. Now we know at least SOMEONE will be punished for this baby’s death!!! And hopefully with all of the testimony including the monster mother will be able to show this monsters GUILT. This is one of the worst child abuse/murder case I’ve watched. Can u imagine the torture, despair and hopelessness that 5 yr felt when that monster no two monsters came into her life? I wonder how Murder Mom treated her in her first few years? He not only tortured her but degraded her as a human being. This is why I wonder if there’s a higher power. One would not allow this to happen and yes I know Ruiz had free will so what’s the use of believing if this is allowed to happen? I also hate plea deals most of the time but 40 years is not enough. Listening to this poor baby girl crying… my heart is completely broken. This demonic beast & the mom too deserves the death penalty! She allowed him to torture her own baby! Same exact words I said! I will never ever forget this baby. This whole trial I cried especially hearing her little voice crying and pleading. Both of them are evil and demonic to say the least. Whats the worse part is Mercedes reminds me of my baby girl so much, she even sounds like my daughter. I think of Mercedes everyday and every time I cry. The family members on the father side all said that all Mercedes ever wanted was to be loved by her mom, it’s heart breaking to know that she never felt loved just hated and tortured. I often pray for her, I asked God that whenever I make it to heaven I would love to see her and hug her and tell her I love her. Ive watched lot of trials of children being abused and m*rdered but this one will haunt me forever.
3:02:52-59 the prosecutor has a picture of Mercedes in her hand you can get a glimpse of the picture. She had a huge bald spot, her hair was ripped out from the roots! Her face is all scraped and bruised. This poor baby girl!!!! I’m in tears!!!!!!!

I saw that as well! It angers me so much when District Attorneys make these plea bargains! Even though the DA didn’t mention it during her Opening Statement, it’s usually with the understanding that you have to tell the truth otherwise the deal will be revoked and by the way the DA was asking the mother, “are you sure”, when she was answering the questions, I believe the so called mother was lying and has been lying throughout her testimony! As you said and as I’ve said in other comments, the mother has not said, or “remembered” 🙄 anything that was helpful! The only thing she seems to really be remembering are the things that are helpful to her, like she didn’t beat Mercedes, etc. I 🙏🏽 pray, when the Judge sentences her, she gets the max….45 years and not a day less! I almost choked when the mother said she was hoping that probation would be part of her sentence! 🫣

The prosecuting attorney actually said "Why didn't you LEFT sooner"!!!!! I mean they are such poor lawyers, words are their craft and they say something like that without correcting it??? They have to be told to "ask another question", sheesh, this poor Judge must just want to scream at these lawyers, both sides, just ridiculous. I could ask better questions and give a better opening statement than that defense attorney and I only watch trials, I could phrase my objections better than these horrible defense attorneys. Poor Mercedes, she had no chance, no mother, no father, no decent thinking Police Department, no relatives, none that didn't abuse her or love her anyway.
The most infuriating part is someone could’ve saved her. Cps, police, even Katrina’s God father who she was living with at the time. He testified at Katrina’s sentencing. He said when Jose came to pick up Mercedes that time he took her alone and kept her over night alone, Mercedes was scared and didn’t want to go with Jose. First off, why would he allow that in the first place, and if he saw Mercedes was scared and didn’t want to go why did you let her????!! That man allowed another man who he didn’t even know take Mercedes by herself without Katrina and allowed Mercedes to sleep there alone!!!!! Then the next day she was all beat up and bruised. She was 4 at the time! So many people failed this baby, this baby’s story really k*lled me and it will haunt me forever.
How did Jose not see this little girl for 2 days, and she admits that, but says Jose beat her to death? Doesn't make sense.. They BOTH BEAT HER TO DEATH DAILY... Why don't they put in the trial Day 1 or even just the number 1, 2 3, 4 for the day of the trial, it's hard to find them when viewing on the tv. Such a simple thing that would help view in order.

Where do you even begin? Judge Boyd is a saint for putting up with all this crap. The prosecutor and the defense is not prepared. The defense is pathetic and these two “parents” people all I can say is there’s a special place in hell for them.
