Even though you didn't really explain it, this is my first time understanding the 3-point rotation after watching you do it. My sense of direction is probably what a bat's would be if they didn't use sonar. I always say it's like dyslexia for me, but with directions instead of words/numbers. I kept thinking you had to go like left, right, down, repeat, or up, down, left, repeat, or something along those lines, but I was confused because you would be going horizontally twice or vertically twice which wouldn't make sense if you have to make the H. Now I see that if you're going left, right, and down, there has to be a down rotation every other time, like left, down, right, down, left, etc. Very long-winded, but I'm proud of myself for finally understanding. I think I was confused because you do 4 passes before you repeat the cycle, but since one point/direction is repeated it's called 3-point. This is my third set of microlocs and I'm doing my first retie in a week or 2 so I may try the 3-point rotation now that I understand. I've only done the 2-point before, but my hair is super thick and I want smaller, more compact locs. I may even try the 4-point. Thank you, great video

I think it is great that you were honest with yourself and your situation and are doing what is best for your hair long term. You can always change your mind later too, but if not that's perfectly fine. Many people I speak to have set unrealistic expectations and find themselves disappointed or frustrated with the upkeep. I think it took you an hour to do all 13. I do mine pretty much the same but I do a 2 point rotation. My only issue is I've been finding holes in several of my locs. I always search for them and fix every retie but I'm not sure if the 2 point is causing issues or if I'm just really messing up when I do a few. Seems to be more on the top which is the last part I do. I might just be tired by the time I get up there and it's been 3 days 😂. Curious of you had issues doing the 2 point.
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Год назад
Greetings and welcome! I surprisingly took less lol. I still thought I would've been faster than my final time though 💕 But still proud of myself! Im sorry you experienced holes in your locs but glad you know how to fix them. When I'm tried of lose track of my rotations sometimes 😁 I try to break it up to avoid it but we are only human so I still do it sometimes. I didn't have any isues with the two point as far as doing it. I just felt it didnt secure my hair at the root as good and after I washed my hair the retie was not as right as now doing the 3 point rotation.

@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Год назад
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate your love and support 💕 Your question is valid and I can understand your perspective. The "three point rotation" Is the patterns and directions I use to interlock the hair. For example, I do West, North, West, South. There are 3 different points of entry. The amount of times you repeat the patterns varies from person to person base off new growth. The reason I did it several times is to interlock that new growth but the rotation stays the same. I used to do a 2 point rotation at first but later switch to a 3. I hope I was able to explain this well. It can be confusing, I know it was to me at first 😆 I also will link a 3 point rotation video I did below if you'd like a visual. 💕 Peace and love to you! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GxhfPLRNHLY.html This one Is a two point rotation video if you'd like to see an example of that one as well 💜ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-esKv-DoU4k4.html

How do you know where to start the new rotation? I’ve put so many holes in my locs and spent so much time repairing holes.
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone 10 месяцев назад
I try to make sure that I in all of my rotations going south. If I can't get a full rotation and I just leave it because there is times where I might be able to get half of the rotation in but then I will probably forget that I only did half and then I end up creating a hole in my locs. I also do a three point rotation which kind of makes it in my opinion a little bit harder for me to put holes in my locks then when I used to do a two. Another way to tell is just by looking at where your hair naturally splits in the middle usually if you see that why shape that will let you know which way you ended last I hope this made sense and helps. 💜

Hey I have starter microlocs and Ive been contemplating doing my own reties. (The girl that does it charges about $200.) Anyway...With the fly aways/loose hair you're just wrapping it around your locs afterwards? Also she does a 4 point rotation and Im not sure if I want to continue doing the 4 point rotation, was thinking of doing a 2 point rotation... Any advice on changing rotation?
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Год назад
Nice to have you here and yes I just take the fly aways and make to to wrap them into the loc before I interlock my hair. I think it's great that you want to try it out yourself also, I'm all for saving money! The rotation type may change how your locs end up forming overtime. Is there a specific reason you are thinking to try out a 2 point rotation? For me I like the way the 3 point rotation gives a tighter loc. I hope this helps. 💜

@@SocialSymone Hi! I am also new to this journey (almost 4 months in) my lady also charges $200, im so close to trying it myself. I know you wrap the loose hair around the loc but how does it stay? I’ve tried just to see what happens and the hair just goes back to how it was; just loose and all over the place. Is it the gel you’re using keeping it in place? Thank you!
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone 9 месяцев назад
@@jordanodom5818 hey and congratulations to you on starting your loc journey! It's funny you were talking about the lady charging you 200 bucks because I have a video coming out today where I was saying that's about how much I was going to get charged to if I found someone lol. To answer your question, you are correct, before I start interlocking a lock I like to secure the loose hairs that are around the base or near my scalp first. After I do that, I interlock the loc. You may notice that after you do this that you may have some of the hairs come loose that you just wrapped around the lock before interlocking. I go back in a second time after the retie to secure the hairs that came loose, as a result of the friction of retieing the loc. The gel I'm using absolutely helps hold the loose hairs in place. It is my homemade flax seed gel. A lot of people on their loc journey also use certain loc gels however, I like to personally make my things homemade. Additionally a lot of people just use water and no gels. it really depends on your personal preference. Hope this was helpful and answered your questions. I will link my flaxseed gel video in case you'd like to take a look at it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bWfjX2G2Q5Y.html 💜
