As someone who was homeschooled K-12 (and who has no kids), this is a side of public school I have never really considered. My sister and I had our own individual school supplies, but Mom only taught the two of us, and she wouldn’t have needed to repurchase the same supplies every year for the next grade’s communal containers. I like the one mother’s idea of buying personal supplies for doing homework and sending the generic supplies with the kid for the communal pot at school. But I know that finances can be tight, and that is not feasible for everyone - especially if there is more than one kid in the family. How expensive do these required school supplies lists run per kid? So many interesting takes in this video.

*If they're long enough,* shorts shouldn't be an issue anymore. Summers are only getting hotter, and there are very nice trouser-esque shorts out there. The length of a skirt in the style of pants makes SO much sense. Know what.... I honeschool and this yr didn't have to buy anything cuz we have everything we need. For real education is cheap and basic materials and resource and it's way better than public. Promise I cud show u show to homeschooling k-12 for the cost of 1 yr of ur supplies cost.

So weird to think🤔 back in the 90s and early 2000s, we had school supplies for School and Home....nobody else's parents did this?? We had a special set up at the house w all our awesome, custom supplies. I don't think we can judge the shorts until we know what job she was applying for. the t-shirt and cardigan combo are quite casual so perhaps the dress code for the job was as well. at the job I hire for her outfit would be fine because it fits the dress code and the setting of the job.

It depends on the company dress code bias... it cute and it not too revealing to me, but the internalized misgyonist culture and sexualization of black women makes it hard. some of these companies aint it- shes not hoochi-out chill. I go work with fashion collars and sometimes spikes... of couse im different system open to diversity and differences. * that being said when they tell me i need to bring a suit i get suited and exude flyness.

It starts at home. Good or bad, it starts at home. All of my kids friends came to me for homework help, computer access and advice. I only asked them to treat my home with respect. Dress appropriately. I do not want to see your butt cheeks or tummies. My help for whatever they needed was "my time". Do not waste my time like that. You can look "cute" as well as respectful. When a pair of girls didnt have any clothes that were not what I considered too revealing, I took them out and bought them clothes. Not expensive, just regular clothes with a proper fit. Most of those kids, as adults, will not walk out of the house without me in the back of their minds telling them if that is appropriate or not. A motto that hung by my door was basically "Dress for the job, and life, you want" Meaning just because you are poor now, does not mean you have to stay that way unless you don't try.

I live with family and help with bills, I am planning on transitioning to a job that pays slightly more but I make sure to save in case of an emergency. I do splurge once in a while but otherwise doing good. My only debt is my clear braces I'm paying and my smile is improving which makes me happy. My big goal is once I get my driver's license I plan on getting a used car in good working condition, I want to pay in cash full, no monthly car payments for me lol. Paid 10$ for a rainbow clicker pen from the bookfair, dropped it on the floor, someone picked it up and didnt give it back... i got a dreidle(?) toy from a tutor and i loved it; again, it dropped, someone picked it up and wouldnt return it and i sobbed my way home... when people forget their pencils, id needed to loan them mine for a second... when it was returnedz theyd CHEWED the #2 pencil or CHEWED the led pencil/broken off the tab, POKED UP all my brand new erasers or chewed on them too... same with the crayons...theyd break them, rip off the paper, steal the pretty colors/glitter crayons... it was an absolute mess...

A lot of people are also getting outfit ideas from influencers cosplaying corporate. Not separating tiktok from real like is gonna get some of the girlies fired trying to dress like a “office siren” 😂 that being said at my corporate tech job i wear shorts, and skirts her length all the time. But tech jobs are typically very casual and i put on a business clothing for my actual interview. But the tailored shorts she wore are actually in style right now and Abercrombie makes tailored shorts and blazer sets which a lot of girls wear to work. I’ve interviewed with Abercrombie for a corporate position and was told to dress very casual as they don’t like people dressing business 😂

I live on the coast and work in a bakery and thankfully i’m able to wear shorts if i want but some people can’t and i think they have a point there about the summer heat. It should still be appropriate obviously, not biker shorts lol.

And people can dunk on Starbucks all they want, but you don't need that Dunkin Donuts, that Tim Horton's, or your local coffee shop that you get it from. Coffee is a WANT, not a NEED. I worked a retail job in a beach community in Australia when i was in my teens. I wore knee length denim shorts to the job interview. Wasn't an issue due to the circumstances.

Safety refers to being in debt but having a paycheck to keep it under control. Comfort refers to being debt free and having assets and resources to buy what you need and not incur a debt.

We should normalize going to community college. I did running start in high school. Did more classes that would transfer to a large university in order to keep costs down. Only did 1.5 years at a state school after 3 years at a community college. Planning to go to vet school and saving to be able to pay for it in cash as much as possible. Even though I’ll have to pay 140k (or more) I have a plan and the earning potential will allow me to pay off the loans if I continue to strictly budget. Career choice definitely matters.

In australia the communal supplies are included in the school fees, everyone brings their own notebooks and pencil cases and stuff everyday. Underprivileged kids who's parents didn't get them supplies would get basic personal notebooks and pencils provided by the school Am i crazy or is that the best way to do it?? I def would never wear that for an interview. However, I will say that my office does allow shorts in the summer as long as it’s not on days where you’re meeting clients, etc. and of appropriate length and style. Regardless of that, I still wouldn’t wear them when I’m trying to obtain a job. First impressions are everything.

It depends on the place. I seen people look and dress a lot worse and got the job. One woman look like her come straight from the club with a one piece suit. I have 1 son that has tattoos and I have spoken to him about where not to put them. I told him they need to be able to cover them if necessary . You never know what tomorrow will bring don't limit yourself with tattoos or certain clothing. All jobs are different, some have dress codes some don't.
