ET's Thando Dlomo surprised viral painter Richard Hutchins with a buyer who was interested in some of his art -- Oprah Winfrey! Oprah purchased two of his paintings during their chat, a piece called 'Flower Girl' and a portrait of Angela Davis. Richard is working with Charlie Rocket to sell his art, after a stint living without a home.

Absolutely, they probably stole a lot from him already. How many times have we seen this happen to black folk. If Oprah truly wants to help she should set him up with the right people. Just like you said @ Ann Cuffy, he has no idea of what the paintings are priced. Those very same people helping him have probably made a lot of money off him already or took his stuff.

It is NOT a red flag for an artist who's just starting to sell their work to not understanding valuation/pricing. That's why having an agent (who is trustworthy) is so important. An artist doesn't put brush to canvas because they know how much money it'll bring. That's not why they exist, or how they're inspired. Richard needs a great agent/manager, and a trustworthy accountant. He also needs to learn something of the business side himself so that once a month he can check their work.

The time invested The materials/supplies needed Cost of rent/lease lights gas etc A salary you take Taxes you must pay along with Writeoffs deductions etc Comparisons of other work in the market Pricing strategy. When you think of all the art that goes for millions this is one to me, IMO. This is real art and I pray he treats it as something special because it is.
