ET spoke with Wesley at CBS' Television Critics Association summer press tour, where he was promoting season 2 of 'Tell Me a Story.' Exclusives from #ETonline : • NEW From Entertainment...
They didn't like each other at all in the beginning yet their chemistry was one of the strongest things about the earlier seasons!! Incredible acting on both their parts!!
It’s very professional for them to only reveal it to us now rather than during the actual show which could’ve jeopardised the tv show in a multitude of ways
I think it also helped that they were shooting the show in seclusion. Not many other shows were shooting in Atlanta at the time, so they pretty much only hung out with each other. I can’t even imagine how much drama went down…
You are so right! I've recently started watching it again after I heard Nina talking about this and I can tell you it does change the way I look at their relationship now! I'm constantly thinking about them actually hating each other off camera and it kinda ruins their on camera scenes!
He's just a Leo sun, doesn't mean anything just the way he expresses himself. He's a cancer Venus which means he feels in love. His moon is in Virgo and he's ascendant is in libra haha
Well now cancers are emotions creatures but we also know when to back out of things . unlike leo from my personal experience. If we are co-workers i don't have to like you
Nina and Paul despised each other and no one noticed... the tension between Ian and Nina was evident in the finale. Just goes to show Nina wasn’t the one with the problem
i feel like ian is a bit of a prick, he didn’t clearly want her back because of nikki and it goes to show he can’t be professional in his job because it showed in the last episode that he didn’t give a shit she was back
xmoonlightdiaries I admire the work he does for the environment, but he’s grown such a big head since tvd began and he’s unbearably pretentious in my opinion
Adrienne Riva yeah it’s good but the way he’s acting isn’t showing the way he used to be it seems like he’s done with fame and that he got too famous and just was annoyed by his fans and everything else
because the fans were so hateful to him and his wife it was crazy the media created stories its too much to handle ,, in nina and paul case no one knows no pressure and hateful things as well
As a Delena shipper I can say it’s not because they are horny, it’s genuinely because their relationship wasn’t rushed- it took four seasons to develop therefore making it seem more real. Stelena started dating pretty much immediately after meeting. Also, delenas chemistry is undeniable, Ian and Nina dated for years and so their on camera affection read as very real. Stelena just seemed fake and rushed to me
Hear that everyone “I talk to her more than the other cast members now” -Paul Wesley Came right from his mouth they’re closer even than Nina’s ex. #friendshipgoals
Yeah. I can't belive that nina hasn't gotten more roles because she is so talented. Like the way she played elena and katherine so well that I could easily tell the difference between them
I preferred him over Damon. Of course Damon had that unrequited love for her and rescued her many times but Stefan was bf material. So caring and sensitive and adored her with every piece of his heart.
Unlike with Ian (in the finale), Paul and Nina never ever showed their "despise" for each other, not in the show, nor during panels etc. Ian, in the end, was straight avoiding the questions whether Nina would return or not. In the finale, delena fans got their last kiss, delena was the only couple alive and got their 'happy (human) end', but *NO DIALOGUE BETWEEN ELENA AND DAMON AT ALL. NOT EVEN A SINGLE WORD.* Meanwhile Stelena got so many emotions, dialogue, a long hug, their first song playing, tears and smiles.. So, what Paul and Nina did is called being professional. 🙏 #Stelena
I like how now they are one of the only people from the cast who actually stayed real friends/close,, you can see how genuine and real their friendship is
Sarah Willøw omg the same just happened with me! I am rewatching it all and on season 5 currently, but this watch through I am way more for Stelena, and everyone knows I love Damon more than anything
Same thing happened to me. I can say for myself that with age it’s easier to see what a more realistic, loving, and genuine relationship looks like, and I think stelena called to me more after because of that.
Me too. 15 year old me wanted delena but after rewatching it i realized how wrong I was, Now in my 20’s, I know what a healthy relationship looks like. #stelena but i love steroline more..
I wouldn’t have known this fact if it weren’t for the great chemistry Paul&Nina had onscreen. I miss TVD so much! Can’t believe I watched the series way back 2009😱
From Day 1 Stelena had some of the BEST, INTENSE, BEAUTIFUL chemistry in tv/movie/play history. If Paul & Nina truly disliked each other in the beginning then damn their acting skills even more on point.
Who woulda thought Nina and Paul didn’t like each other at first? They looked like they had some good chemistry. And look at them now such good friends
This goes to show just how incredible of actors they are. Stelena is still by far the most raw and intense love story I've ever seen in american TV shows and to think that they despised each other is just mind boggling to me 🤯
@@xprettydobsley Yeah it's just sometimes interesting how some actors can be an exact replica of their character, like Torian Bellisario with her PLL character Spencer, and sometimes the polar opposite scenario like this one with Wesley is just as fascinating! It goes to show how good of an actor he is 🤗
S. Cheddadi he’s amazing actor and he’s so underrated tbh. he really took on the roll of stefan and silas and did amazing job. i wish he was in more things because i really miss seeing him in the vampire diaries
i have to admit that nina was an amazing actress on TVD.. in the beginning, i absolutely hated... HATED Nina as her character Elena.... it wasnt until katherine showed up did i realise that i actually just hated Elena.. katherine was awesome for me.. so kudos to her.. it aint easy to hate one character and love another when both are played by the same person...
that's how you know they're great actors..people love criticizing Nina for her "monotone" flat acting but there's an art and subtlety to playing such a character
Chemistry has nothing to do with acting though ? There's plenty of examples of great actors who have no chemistry together. You can also find plenty of examples of shit actors who have lots of chemistry together. Chemistry is not about acting, its about an energy
This really just shows the difference between Paul and Ian. Although they didn’t get along, Paul and Nina had the best chemistry and genuinely looked in love bc they’re great actors and their art comes first. Whereas with Ian, in the final episode of TVD he didn’t even try to hide his hatred or whatever feeling that was I don’t even know what it was but it definitely wasn’t LOVE. He really pissed me off after watching the episode, he couldn’t just suck it up and act in love.
He ruined TVD for me, I couldn't watch it again because the ending was horrible. I feel Ian's unprofessionalism might be a good reason why he can't get any work. I mean even the lack of respect not just for her character Elena, but also her character as a person he consistently attacked. Regardless of how crazy things got with fans that is no excuse to be disrepectful to your coworker, but to your art form as an actor. I used to like him, until he got very distasteful with hurtful comments, and his attitude spiraled out of control. He definitely hurt his career, no manager would want to represent someone who is unprofessional and cover their bad behavior with PR stunts all the time.
Mindful Blessings I completely agree. It really did ruin TVD for me and the ending was actually perfect in terms of the storyline etc. in my opinion. But I just couldn’t help but notice Ian’s attitude and his acting in it. You can literally tell from his facial expressions he just didn’t wanna be there. At least Nina looked like she was happy to see him.
It's so cool that Nian and Paul are still friends after all this Years. I love there friendship and it makes me happy to see that they are in kontakt and lucky together. Love you :)
I never noticed they didn't like each other in the start lol. For me the fact that they actually got to know each other and changed their mind. Really speaks volume about them as ppl and how professional they are. Honestly wish, him and Nina only the best! I'm very happy that they grew together and found a good friend in each other. They are setting a good example for their fans :') Ah, I'll always miss these two together on screen XD
A lot of TV couples that have/had great Chemistry don't or didn't get along in real life. On the top of my head one that stuck with me was Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic from Castle. It was said they actually hated working with each other on set but for 8 seasons long you couldn't see this at all. Their on screen Chemistry was absolutely incredible.
I’ve been watching 8 ss of The Vampire Diaries for few weeks now and suddenly seeing this video makes me feel connected with the series again since I didn’t watch TVD when it first published so longggggg ago so yayyyyyy
There is a fine line between love and hate. They became good friends it shows to you that actors can stay professional and do their jobs if they didn't tell me I wouldn't have known the chemistry on screen 🔥
That happens I’ve had friends who we completely didn’t like each other at all. Then we bond over something and become friends. It’s always good to give people a chance you never know they could turn out to be one of your good friends.
It just goes to show how great their acting abilities are they had fantastic chemistry, I love the vampire diaries I am watching it all over again from the start 💛
I´m watching TVD all over again. I would never in a million years think that they didn´t get along. They are amazing in the show. You believe every thing that they say in the show so to know now that they didn´t like each other shows how good they are at their job. Happy to hear that they feel different to each other today :)
@@sy-qg6qd yeah i mean id understand if it had been a month, even 6 months, but its been over 2 years and they are on the comment section of a video thats clearly gonna have stuff like this
Well, from what I understood from Nina's interview, they started to really get along after a few months of shooting - so probably at that point, it wasn't as awkward anymore
I guess that's called being professional =). but i understand it. how could they xD. the first five month must have been really rough. but that means they both are really really good actors =).
I'm really glad they're such good friends. It read really well on screen. Kind of like Stephen and Emily on Arrow, who are also good platonic friends with excellent screen chemistry.
Lmao I love their relationship 😂 Paul what a absolute mad lad 👏 Reminds me just so slightly of Rachel and Ryan in the notebook completely hating each other 😂😂 but this is way better 👌
this is the same thing that happened with "Dirty Dancing" it shows great acting skill to play a couple that loves each other when you don't even like each other.
It's good to see real story like this. It's true that can happen in relationships. But people evolve as well. Great to see this story unfold. I totally respect them as artist now more than before. Before I was just crushing how hot they are both. Now it's more than that. It's great!
