I would say that BYU Idaho pursue a wrong approach to a critical problem the LDS church has found in recent years. Since most Mormons marry young, several divorces in Mormon families have been caused by males being addicted to porn. These males have tried to find so to speak the pleasure of a visual porn with a Mormon female partner that is likely not into this. Females tend to be far more conservative in Mormon families. Then the problem arises. The number of divorces related to this issue are very high in the LDS church. There are so high, the LDS authorities have given fast track to different projects whose goal is to battle porn addiction. Obviously, this Ad was a total failure, but the problem is real in young married Mormon couples.

That wait until marriage rule come from a time when 13 was considered adult. At that age you are just getting your sexual urges and waiting until marriage was easy. In a society that couldn't do paternity testing, didn't have latex condoms, didn't have birth control pills, didn't subscribe to the notion of romantic marriage, treated women as property, and had a life expectancy of maybe 30 years - these rules made sense. Things have changed since 3500 BC! Today, these rules are both scientifically and socially obsolete and absurd.

I love this shit about there being a stigma stopping people from speaking up and 'helping'. When you make people ashamed of sex, you make ALL parties confused and embarrassed. Once everyone by and large accepts masturbation, we can actually have productive conversations about how much is too much, or what the signs of actual addiction would be. But that conversation would involve rational, respectful, properly educated people who are not in a cult and don't think they're in a war.
