The best thing about this video is the calm and collected response of literally everyone around him. Response was quick and the guy assessed the damage without freaking out. Radio call was concise and precise. If you’re gonna tumble like that, have friends around you that are as well trained and experienced as these people.

Adrenaline kicks in when you're in a rescue situation.... In a car crash on highway 89 in Tahoe... I found myself orchestrating the entire situation.. I'm calling a guy out of his truck to help me get a lady in her car out of the middle of the highway, Just stopping traffic going 55 60 miles an hour with him. Clearing the highway of debris with another man with a shovel, letting these two men know that we can't leave that woman alone... She was days and might get out of the car and water into the highway. So we took turns checking on her. Reassuring her, like getting her to the hospital was our first priority, and that an ambulance was on the way. Staying while CHP administered first aid to her. Waiting for paramedics to walk over to the ambulance. After I saw her safely get in the ambulance to be driven away, After shaking and feeling like I was going to vomit. CHP asked me for a report... And what I thought the woman was doing. I told them I could ponder that but I have no idea. Paramedics told me the nausea was from adrenaline. I am the least likely person to keep my cool in a situation like that. I'm the one who would go into shock or be crying, need reassuring... queezy at the side of blood... Says it's crazy to me that I could do all that in an emergency. Freaking weird but adrenaline can do. Cry later oh hell yeah... When they adrenaline wears off

I'd agree, but it did look like he basically got himself to the point of being cliffed out except for the line he tried. You usually do not hear how scared the person is before the crash or how much pain they are experiencing in these long-line videos because the wide shot just usually includes the loud scraping of the skis. It puts it into perspective how freaking gnarly of a fall this was when you hear him take off at 0:48 and land twice at 0:51 and 0:52. Lord have mercy, you can feel that.
@benhulme7401
@benhulme7401 3 года назад
The line he took and that spine was nuts. His right turn was a turn made as though it was deep powder, but all the powder had swept of it so he got shot / bucked over the cliff before he could make the left turn. I don't think he'd adjusted his approach post the avalanche.

@@aaronalto3034 No one is looking to be a hero hear.. I think both the "silly skier" as u call him and the rescue team are out their because each party is passionate about what they do in one way or another. Another point I would like to point out is the skiers are not just out there trying to be reckless thrill seekers, its much more than just that.. Also I would confidently say both the skiers and the rescue team understand the risks and the nature of what they do. I'm just glad there's people who do both :)! And don't get your panties in a naught they definitely payed a hefty fine for the rescue.

@louispaille1084
@louispaille1084 4 года назад
@@aaronalto3034 I feel like that's a very outside looking in outlook. This type of skiing is extremely dangerous and there is magnitude of risks.. however this type of skiing also takes you to place of extreme beauty that most of the people in this world wont ever have an opportunity to go and experience, so these videos that are just made for income generation as you say are also sharing an absolute wonder of our world. Also another aspect just to throw it out their is that its a great chance to hangout in the mountains and create life long memories with friends. So as you can see there definitely other aspects that drives these riders. Its not just about thrill seeking ego hunger lol or income generation either. However don't get me wrong i do understand there is a side of thrill seeking in this sport I'm not denying that I'm just saying there are other drives behind there actions as well.

You ski the back country where there is no Ski Patrol and lots of hidden rocks and boulders and no grooming and a high likelihood of avalanches and your chance of dying go way up over skiing at a resort. And if you do crash and burn and need help, you put the lives of all the rescuers in jeopardy as they try to save you.
