Pre Poo after any protective style is key 🔑 😉

I usually just take them down and wash my hair right away. I find it easier to do it that way and it's easier for me to detangle in the shower instead of detangling first and then washing. As for the hair loss.. that's just the hair you're supposed to shed (unless it was super tight). Sometimes the weight of the hair added in is too much for our own hair so that can also contribute to breaking, hair ripping from the root and hair loss.

Oh man! I wish I had seen this before you got the braids. Not sure if it would have made a difference though🤷🏽‍♀️ I always take my braids out and detangle with deep conditioner and LOTS of , TONS of water, not leave in conditioner. DC seems to have more slip, easier to detangle, rinse like crazy and then shampoo ONCE no manipulation. When wash day comes again, shampoo as normal . I learned this the hard way after my first two braiding visits; as I was a bit alarmed as well. My edges are better, but were quite traumatized😂 I'm glad you have a ton of hair🥰 You called your mom "home girl!" I love it💜😂

Hey love have you heard of making a homemade black tea spray for shedding? I just found out about it recently and made my spray a couple days ago and am excited to try it out. It’s to be kept in the refrigerator and sprayed on the scalp everyday. I also added Moringa powder to mine for an extra boost!

Girl +Hair protective style hair care products are very good for braids.

You have to think about the math. The average person sheds 50 to 100 hairs a day. Since you had the braids in for 13 days, that adds up to 650 to 1300 shed hairs. Also, a fellow RU-vid person, Linwood, says to lean forward when having the nape area braided. It stretches the skin so when you lift up, the braid isn't too tight.

Your shedding is normal. It’s the shedding that would of normally happened. I know it looks traumatizing how much hair sheds after a protective style. Every time I do a protective style I have to prep talk myself when taking them out.

Girl yes!!! I had took some stitch braids out I had got a while ago and my hair got matted when I washed it! I was so scared and had a lot of shed hair but I do believe it’s normal and it’s fine!😂

It sounds like you need an Aphogee protein treatment to stop the shedding.

Yeah it’s just the hair that you were supposed to be shedding those 13 days. I left my hair braided for 1 month and it shed ALOT!

I think I was just a bit shook because it felt like a lot in the moment. I also don't shed as much so it definitely caught me off guard 😭 - I have left my braids in for a month and I also had a lot of shedding!

How do you guys prep your hair for braids when the stylist requires you to come with your hair already washed and blow dried straight with no product in it? Do you just deep condition or?

Oh nahhh I wish! hahaha Braiders want you READY READY these days. I respect it tho- they'd probably spend just as much time trying to blowdry/stretch my hair than they would braiding 😭😂😂
