Im curious to see how they are going to get show Snows narcissism on to the screen. In the book he always came across as charismatic and selfless. When his inner thoughts and intentions were self-serving. Even his "love" for whats her face was never real because it was always about what she could do for him. But we wont know what hes really thinking with out his thoughts for context 🤔
That will be interesting, even I noticed throughout the book that Snow's "love" for Lucy Grey wasn't real, more like an infatuation, or the sort of parasocial relationships we can have today thanks to social media.
@aelinorholloway3669 right! Narcissist can't love because they don't have true empathy. Honestly the author must have known a few Narcissist in her day because she nailed it!
Yes, I wonder how Snow is going to be portrayed in the movies. With his “love” for Lucy, I noticed he wasn’t really in love, but in love with the idea of love set in mind, if that makes sense. He would always explain his actions towards her as “because I love her”, like he wasn’t convinced of how he truly feels and was making himself think he loved her. And I hated how when he realized that the peacekeepers didn’t know he had a hand in the rebellion move, he quickly went to trying to kill Lucy, which kinda makes her a means to an end for him.
Hey Morgan, I just wanted to thank you for giving us in depth lore of universes of all these great books and movies for years! The work you put into this is amazing
I’m glad I read the book before going to see this movie when it comes out, I’m so excited for Friday. I hope the film is just as amazing as the book was.
I just binge watched the first four movies and forgot HOW GOOD they were and also the grip that the series had on me in middle school? So much of the imagery is daunting and there’s just so much depth in both the books and the movies and im glad it got a revival!
I honestly can't wait to see the movie. I know it might not fully live up to the original movie trilogy when they did the original three books but i know it'll be a great movie nonetheless
Dude i appreciate you so much you have no idea, your video “the entire timeline of coriolanus snow” is when i first found out about the prequel. That was two years ago and ever since then ive fallen back in love with the trilogy and been obsessed with tbosas and absolutely can’t wait to see the movie this week. Thank you for introducing the prequel so well!!!
This was a really great recap from you! As a huge fan of the series (and loved Ballad so much), I cannot WAIT to see this book fully come to life on the big screen on Friday! I have been anticipating for this movie for the whole year (well, 3 years really from the moment I finished reading the book for the first time back when it was released). I’m going to see it in IMAX and it’s gonna be such an incredible experience! 😊❤️❤️
Ive never been sure of weather im intrested in the book or not but the hype of the film release has got to me. Also Oliva Rodrigo's song goes SO WELL with Lucy and Snow's relationship and even compared to Safe and Sound you can see the difference with her and katniss
I'm very intrigued and excited to see how they depict Panem in 'the past' as it were...like it'll be cool to see a sort of middle ground between now and the original series.
Checked this book out from the library almost a year ago. Found out afterward that a movie was almost done. The original books established at no one from 12 had ever won the games. That made it more suspenseful to read.
"Then he reads the list of past District 12 victors. In seventy-four years, we have had exactly two. Only one is still alive. Haymitch Abernathy." - The Hunger Games, Chapter 1
i honestly think rachel KILLED it in this movie! she was given a couple cringe scenes and lines to work with, but she executed them very well! not to mention her singing voice is mind-blowing and so beautiful, and she radiated a very angelic, princessy aura. i think shes gonna do wonderful in snow white and I'm very excited to see it :)
I’m going to see the movie with a friend a week from today. I hope I like it even it likely won’t live up to with the original trilogy. And Snow seemed like a really nice guy who sadly became the dictator we know. Dr. Gaul has unmade him. Also, because I only know about Rachel Zegler now, I’m just going to ignore her Snow White roll and the drama surrounding it and focus on Lucy Gray instead. Once again, I’m looking forward to this film.
@@cheekschu2152it’s so interesting because I felt sorry for Snow a couple different times in the book, and I had to basically slap myself in the face and remember who this guy ended up being.
He was an ambitious guy with formally „ok“ moral but became a monster becaus of his goals which have always been most important to him (regardless of the people he loved). That’s what he is. Getting together with the wrong persons made it worse…
Watched it already!! And it’s one of the best prequel movie ever. Can’t even decide currently which is the better Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes or Catching Fire!!
I actually read the book a couple times, and, while I think all the books were great, this was the best book of the lot. So looking forward to the movie.
I love this book and I am so excited for the movie! I just haven't gotten over how it had to end. Even though I knew Snow would become the cruel president, I was still hoping for a happy end. Oh well, I'm still freaking out to see that movie
It may not live up the original trilogy, but who knows? We may be pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to see what it's got to offer. Personally, I wonder if the movie will provide any insight on Lucy Gray's connection to Katniss, if any, as well as her ambiguous fate in the books.
I just saw it... They made the wrong call not splitting it in two parts. It felt very rushed and very unemotional in most places. I feel like they failed to convey how much of a narcissistic ass snow already is, or why he already is that way (because of how traumatized he is from the dark days). In the book his love for tigris and his grandmother feels very shallow and more rooted in pride than anything like concern for their safety or wellbeing. The movie also failed to capture how creepy he got towards Lucy Grey in terms of feeling entitled to her + calling her his. In the book he legit says at one point that it was better when she was locked in the zoo at the capital than free in 12 because he knew who she was with and where she was. He wants to control her and you get the sense that she's something of a consolation prize to him.
You should watch this AFTER watching the movie. Most of this information is explained in the movie and it's better to digest it during the cinematice experience.
I am a new subscriber and i am gonna make my mom see the movie. This video was really interesting ♡ Your videos are amazing and i really love them since i am in a lot of book fandoms like hunger games, harry Potter, Percy Jackson and more
I've been rereading the book since last Wednesday and I'm almost done, I'm on chapter 26, I should finish it by tomorrow. I'm excited but also worried 'cause I've seen a lot of people saying that the film is rushed from the middle to the end, and I'm not hearing many positive things about Sejanus either (my favorite character after Snow). So, we'll see.
I loved Sejanus but he was annoying me. He made me so anxious because I felt like screaming at him. BOY STOP TALKING THWYR GONNA KILL YOU PLEASE BABY STOPPPO
@@nelonwa7754this happened to me when i read the book, i was always thinking SEJANUS, I UNDERSTAND YOUR FEELINGS BUT I'M PRETTY SURE NO ONE LIKES YOU IN THE CAPITAL AND THAT PEPOLE FROM DISTRICT 2 HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE ABLE TO ESCAPE. DON'T DO STUPID THINGS
@@luciagianquitto4010 I know right. But he really is sweet. He's just so naive. The ppl there didn't get there by being nice. His father kept trying to tell him that. Try to toughen him up. But he was too short sighted to see that his screaming wouldn't do much but annoy this e with power who enjoyed the hunger games. DR. GAUL HELLOOOO. He shd have just played the game, rised up the ranks then takedn down the whole structure. It was that simple. Even when he broke into the arena it was the biggest showing stupidity ever. I think that as far as Dr. GAUL was concerned he signed his death warrant then. She just needed him to do one more thing. Cuz breaking in just showed her who's side he was really on. And that does not bode well for the capitol if they have rebel sympathizers. It's like showing the districta they can penetrate the capitol and being it down from the inside. And Sejanus is all talk little action. He thinks he's sneaky but he's bad at reading ppl, situations, observations etc. That's why coryo caught on.
I agree with the comments about Rachel Zagler who was a total idiot by trashing the original story of Snow White. However, she does seem like a talented actress and Lucy seems like a very interesting character. So I can't wait to watch it.
Y'all should blame the Studio for wanting to rewrite the new snow white movie they clearly found an issue with the original to completely change the new movie
Mockingjay didn't have to be broken into two movies. It was done so in order to compete and follow the lead of other mega franchises like Harry Potter and Twilight.
I really don't understand all the hate around Rachel Zegler.... Like. She made a joke?? And it's not like there's much evidence to prove her wrong???? I just don't understand all the hate. She is incredibly talented and I'm so excited to see her in this movie and hear her sing the songs.
People are projecting their annoyance at "woke" movie advertising onto her, so end up excessively hating her for a few minutes of at most cringey but not necessarily malicious interview moments.
@@jessy1982 That's a good explanation, thanks. I loved Rachel in West Side Story, and I think the new film will be awesome, with her playing Lucy Gray Baird. And by the way, I get sick of much of the so-called "woke" stuff around. But I don't really think Rachel is guilty of any of it.
@@Rick_King Yeah, something like the Cleopatra series was what I'd call "woke" revisionism. Rachel thinking Snow White was a sketchy story of its time? ...so what?
tbh at one point I was asking myself if the movie was going to end or if it was gonna continue, and I thought the same thing at the very end, the movie was really good, I liked how they ended the movie, if they wanted to make another book or movie they could because they ended this one on a cliff hanger
I feel like the Rachel Zegler controversy may ruin the movies profit. I am very excited for this movie, as long as its good, I do not care about any controversy or crap.
for real. people need to not be childish and realize that there are many more people involved in this project than just her. i’m not a fan of her by far but i am a hunger games fan and i would like to see this project succeed.
@@EmperorPiplupno she said way more then that. She was shit talking it then when people called her out she pulled the women and racism card as why we won't watch a movie that's getting ruined
Yes! I can see him as Snow. Unfortunately I don't have Netflix so I haven't see Netflix One Piece but for moments I've seen he would be good choice Mind my grammar please
I would love to see Hunger Games and Percy Jackson characters made in the AI, just like what you did with the Harry Potter characters. This will be from the books and not the films.
I watched the film and personally they could’ve done better in making Snow narcissistic but maybe that’s the point. Felt like they wanted us to relate and like Snow.
Question. Will you make videos about Pirates of the Caribbean's characters' lives? Specifically, Will Turner, Jack Sparrow, Hector Barbossa, Joshamee Gibbs and Elizabeth Swann please?
I still like Rachel Ziegler! Yeah, I said it! I honestly think people are freaking out over nothing with the whole Snow White thing and she still has my support
I don't understand all the hatred toward Rachel Zegler. Compare her to Jane Fonda, who was a traitor to the United States, and deserves the hate, IMHO. So Rachel didn't like the original Snow White, and had criticism for the way it was done. Compare that to Fonda. With that one exception, I don't, as a rule, hate people just because I disagree with them. Rachel is beautiful, a good actress, and a phenomenal singer. I like her, and I think this film is going to be great!
As someone who has seen the premiere in France yesterday and I am sad to say I'm pretty disappointed. There is so little I didn't like but I think it takes such a big place in the film ! Mainly I believe Rachel Zegler's acting feels very out of place. It's just so musical-y it feels wildly unbelievable. Personally, I feel the feeling around her and her reputation has completely bled into her role and that makes me sad... I mean she's particularly unlikeble in this film. I also genuinely believe it should have been split into two films. I know the director recieved a lot of backlash back in the day for splitting Mockingjay, but I think he made the right decision back then and should have done the same for this film. They also did Clemencia sooo dirty, like, you don't understand... That being said I think the rest of the film is great ! The rest of the cast is brilliant and the production design, may I say, is goooorgeous. I love what the actors did with Highbottom and Flickerman particularly. The actor for Coryo is perfection (only there were inconstistencies in the hair and EYBROW dye that were distracting to me but I don't think other people will notice) Not a fan of Viola Davis' portrayal, especially her character design, which I found over the top. Sadly, the movie suffers from the inevitable comparison with the original Hunger Games films. ESPECIALLY Jennifer Lawrence perfectly subtle acting compared to Rachel Zegler's very over the top, dramatic performance (and the singing, I can't... I know and love Lucy Gray drama but girl... It's too much) Just my opinion, can't wait to talk about it with y'all one you guys ser it !
