Exactly. I was just looking around for unlimited storage, just for me personally, and it costs $ it can be a lot. I was blown away when I first learned that youtube allows you to upload unlimited..and you can just leave the video unpublished...huh????....I was like , why? Seriously there is no cap????
Ärlig, smart, väldigt fint förklarat. Gav mig definitivt en bra bakgrund till vad man ska tänka på innan man kickar igång. Tack för din video! Allt gott, Nicole
Really helpful content, thanks for sharing. Even though I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, I still remember getting started. It was a tough journey. Of course, things are a lot easier now and I'm super grateful that I didn't give up and stayed patient and all the way through. Consistency and hard work (I had to use Famester to kick start my channel, and I am still using it to this day), is the key to success!! Good luck to everybody, you're gonna make it soon.
I totally agree with the RU-vid as a library concept. For small creators particularly - like me - having a library of searchable content in the years to come is very important to earning a small "income" (pocket money). Great video, Peter.
I started a channel a little over a year ago. As of today I have 862 amazing subscribers. Photography had such an impact on my life that I wanted to try and give that knowledge back somehow. I started reviewing some of the gear I was acquiring and that was getting more views than the photography content so I just kept going with the gear and layer off the photography. Every day I say I'm going to start back with what I love, I know it will show. This video has just confirmed everything I already knew. I guess I just need to hear it from someone. Thanks for the content Peter. You inspire more than you know! Much Love, Donny B
I’m going on 2.5 to 3 years and I’m still getting no where with my channel, however, the skills I’m learning keeps me going. 👏🏾👏🏾 In my eyes, it’s still worth it.
I've been off and on with youtube over the last year and what you've covered here has reminded me on what I should focus on when making the videos.. thank you man
Definitely amazing advice! I’m at 457 subs and I’m right in the process of changing my niche to something can go on about for years. I started in your niche, learned a TON with filmmaking and editing, now I’m off to head back to the fitness industry! 💪👊🏻
I missed you Peter, I’ve been watching an entire different genre of RU-vid for a while and haven’t even touched my camera in a while. Since watching this video, I remember how much knowledge you have shared with me, I really appreciate you!
Thank you, Peter! Today, on my birthday, I thought that I wanted to change something or master something new and here is your video, I'll try it too :)
Another nice one Peter it's really nice to have people like you that inspire small RU-vidrs like me. I never really took my channel serious and have finally taken steps to do this.
If you want to become a content creator I say the number one factor is "Do You Love It?" If you do not love making youtube videos do not even start because you will not succeed. But if you find joy and escapism and overall therapy from the process than it is definitely something you should dive into head first 😊.
This is so inspiring! I was told not to start my self-development RU-vid channel by someone I thought would support me. Did it anyway! To anyone working towards their dreams, don't give up. Keep on going! Hope we all become successful RU-vidrs one day 💯
Steven from Sweden here. I've been contemplating about whether or not I should have my channel in english or swedish. I have no problems at all with english BUT once I have a camera in my face I forget words and I think it sounds like I am knocking doors trying to sell vacuum cleaners. Like who the hell would want to watch that anyways. Starting off using my native language would be a lot easier because I would be able to focus on getting used to talking to a camera (which is so weird btw). But the audience is a lot smaller. Can't really make up my mind. Perhaps I can just start with a swedish channel and eventually make the switch to english!
Thank you kindly 😊 growing my RU-vid is a slow process but do love what I do , just working on getting better ❤ much gratitude for your inspirational talk
I have totally different niche and targets than you sir but you are one of my main inspiration to do my thing! Thanks and keep the good work. To have this kind of workspace as yours is a dream!
I started my RU-vid channel half a year into filmmaking. You helped me a lot as one of the reasons I started my filmmaking journey. Just wanted to say thank you, for being here and helping so many of us to overcome fear, doubt and comfort zone. Maybe it wasn't your goal, but you helped not only to become a better filmmaker, but also to start living a dream life, which is scary, but I'm looking fwd to it as I'm leaving my 9-5 to become a full-time filmmaker in the end of august. It's crazy even to say it out loud, but if it weren't for you and RU-vidrs like you, I maybe wouldn't even think about it. Maybe one day, when I get wiser, we will meet to share our story. But as for now, I wish you all the best☺🇨🇿
just checked your channel and damn its good and also a 1000subs in 6 months thats awesome ive been making videos for 2 years and im almost at 200subs haha
@@simonshares2956 Thank you so much! I've been posting videos for 2 years too. When you have 9 to 5 and trying to build a portfolio to become a full time filmmaker - it's hard to be consistent on youtube. But We need to keep going. I believe that nothing is impossible and I honestly love filmmaking community for being very kind. I wish you a lot of success ! ☄
I did some volunteer work on an independent film ( I’m a prop/ set designer/location scout) and the director got nominated for an award- she went to surely for the award show. She isn’t the camera person , she writes scripts , gets funding and sorta produces the projects. I think if you are a camera person, you could do the same, be the producer. I’ll go check your channel out.
Major Inspiration!🎉 Thank you so much I'm trying to make youtube shorts have more of your style filming with a comedic twist making the viewer feel like there actually there in the short or video it's amazing fun. Thanks a million for your wise words.❤
Yo dude! I follow you and your stuff since 3 years or so... but one of the last sentences gave me literallly goosebumps. "find something that you enjoy so much, that you never can stop talking about". THATS SO TRUE! Thanks man!
Thanks Peter, you are the real deal. I started watching you when I switched from photography to learning video. As far back as your shovel add video, I remember your passion for quality and eye appeal really stood out. You deserve the success from your skill / talent and hard work forwards. Glad to see you have grown so much now over the years,. Cheers!
Your asking the fundamental question of channel content creating. I appreciate the questions you raised in this video. YT has allowed me to become more creative in ways I never imagined. As a pastor I was always beholden to my AV people in the church. By becoming a YTer/content creator, it has allowed me to skill up in ways I never imagined. I'm content that I will be able to improve over time both in content and creativity.
Man I really needed to see this today. I’m in a huge crossroads what I’m going to do with my channel because I made a mistake to follow the trends than my heart.
Another great video and advice Peter. I hope one day I get to meet you and shake your hand to say THANK YOU. You've helped me so much along this journey of mine.
Amazing! Hope to follow in your shoes. I took so long to start this journey being my 2nd channel. And this time it feels right! Just launched last week!
That's great advice, as it happens a lot in this channel :) another way you could know if you're really interested in the creative part or it's a money driven motivation is making videos and upload them as unlisted. If you have fun and you feel like you want to make more, that's probably a good idea. But what do I know, I just started publishing those video I had as unlisted because I just found the courage :D
Very nicely said Peter 🙌 I have been watching your videos since the very beginning when I had my a7iii and even though I have since changed to Panasonic your content keeps on giving, and it’s for sure entertaining mate, I have moved to Sweden 4 days ago and I’m working on opening a video studio in the next 2 months around Stockholm, I hope to have the honor to have you there one day 😊 all the best and keep those gems of videos coming bro. Take care and I hope to see you in person soon 😊
I really appreciate your insight. Being that I also never intended on making money with RU-vid, but then seeing my numbers go up, I have been struggling on which way to go from here. Thank you 🙏🏼
Solid video! I am currently starting out my RU-vid journey and these are great tips. It definitely feels daunting but with consistency I hope it will work out! Thanks again.
I’ve had my RU-vid channel for over ten years now myself. I’m always trying new video styles which incorporates my love of both video games and movies. I don’t like RU-vidrs who corner themselves into a box. lol
Thank you for the advice. Have seen other youtubers inc those with a million or more subscribers, but the way you described how to be a youtuber and why you may not want to be a youtuber, is the best way to get the message across. I have some thinking to do now, first things first, what am I really in to and would like to share with others..........thats a tough question.
Thanks for sharing I like your honesty and sense of humour. I was thinking to create a blog and make interesting contents for my blog. Which I haven’t made as yet, but listening to you and hearing your advices has helped me to boost up my confidence and creativeness to start a new hobby and to make some extra money. Thanks for sharing keep up the good work
the one word comment is "BEYOND" man you are awesome this is for the first time happen with me that i watch the vdo and impressed by someone.Hatts of to you I watch many vdos on yts and always learn something but you, man!!! You just solved my problem cause was about start YT channel soon and was worried how to do it what to do it when to do it why to do it. and i got the answers Thank you so much man. I salute you I subscribed your channel make sure to hear from you in future for sure..
Loved this video! Thanks! Totally agree it’s all about the process and enjoying what you are creating! My RU-vid channel is growing very slowly but I’m loving the process of filming and editing so it’s been totally worth it. The past few months I’ve been trying to be consistent whilst working my full time job but also being patient and making sure I’m still enjoying the process.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Congrats on all your RU-vid success. Great takeaways: make searchable titles and RU-vid is a library awesome analogy and so accurate. Honestly, I've learned so much here.
I started a channel to create additional content for the on-line webzine/magazine I create, it was also so I could learn how RU-vid works, and improve my presentation skills, and to blast the rust off my video skills, as whilst I use to make a lot of videos for my job I realised it's been a while since I've done any motion image work, so all my skills had become rusty. If I make any money from it eventually then that would be a bonus but it's currently not my goal.
It's good that you, and millions of people like you, are getting into this type of business, because it leaves the real money, in the real world, up for grabs, for men like me. Thank you RU-vid.
You've been an inspiration to me for a long time, thanks to this type of videos, so thanks Pete! And although I just haven't found the time to really give it all to my YT channel, I have been able to build a video production business using what I've learned from you and others like you, doing what I love, which is making awesome visual content. And you are right on in that the focus should not be the money, while the funny thing is that the money comes easily once the world see how passionate you are about what you do. Thanks brother! Jaime from MIami, FL
Really appreciate this video! I just made the transition from photography being a hobby to my full time and just created a YT channel. I knew going into this it wasn’t going to be easy but hearing and seeing your success is definitely motivating!
Very interesting what you said. We start our Chanel 2021 with the idea, where you find luck? And what can you learn if you see other countries and culture. It makes us really fun, but we haven’t so much user, that we can make the world better. It’s a hard work. Best wishes Siri and Uwe
Good video brother, thnk you mate 🙏🏼 Just coming up to 700 subs in 3 months, hardest thing i have ever done, trying to stay creative and word my videos in a way i think people will understand them is a real challenge, especially as im dyslexic, but it's a challenge that is growing me so much as a person and i absolutely love it 😊 and for the first time in my entire life im actually proud of myself 😁 the bond you build with your subscribers is so awesome too, they really do start to feel like extended family, i think about mine all day 😂😂 Agreed with everything you say my friend ❤
Thanks brother I really needed to hear that. I was really feeling discouraged. It's about the money to me. I just want to make a difference and I realize that it is very difficult to capture an audience but thanks for that. I I don't know if you were trying to be but it encouraged me. Also, I dig presentation bro.
You forgot to say, that many people watch video because of connection with creator. I love your stuff, because the way You doing it, that makes me coming back for more, even im not really in video/photography stuff ;)
I’ve found that you need to make sure you even like making the videos. I’ve just started making videos and plan to start my RU-vid channel in the near future. To take the pressure off, I’ve decided to only make videos for me right now.
I really liked this video, thanks for that! From my experience, a lot of hobbies are great hobbies and bad jobs. I LOVE cooking but I didn’t love being a chef. So now I make videos about it to keep it as a hobby and to learn more about cooking, and making videos and speaking in front of the camera etc. It is daunting tho and watching videos like this really helps!
“And when it comes to niching down … find something that you enjoy so much that you never can stop talking about that.” Key. Incisive. Peter, your excellence is showing again! And also your English is beautiful and artful. Cheers, good guy, from the States. 🇺🇸💛🇸🇪
Great advice, my channel is kind of all sorts at the minute based loosely around the outdoors. It’s tough to be consistent when you have 2 jobs but it’s something I enjoy so I will keep at it. My goal is to make videos that entertain
Great video! As someone who started getting serious about youtube only this year I get everything that you are saying. But also I am not taking all of the advice. I know that nicheing down your channel helps wiht defining a specific audience, but I am interested in various things and would get bored and run out of ideas if I was doing just one thing. So I decided to have two niches on one channel which can crossover between them. I am focusing on cars and photo/video stuff, which are two passions of mine. I know making separate channels might also be a good way to go about it but at the moment I dont have the energy to work on 2 channels at once. As it is all I focus on is uploading one video a week, while working a full time job and doing freelance work on the side. Anyways, great content as always, keep it up.
If I was 22, I’d want to go to film school. But since that ship has sailed, I’d like to learn filmmaking and get good at it using RU-vid as a platform. Such things didn’t exist in my time 😂❤. Thanks for your perspective!
Thank you so much for this video. I am on the brink of starting a channel, purely for fun. I have made some tentative videos at home, with a webcam and an external mic, and I am just learning how to edit using iMovie. This really is as much as I want to do - I have no desire to earn money from RU-vid. Is it possible to control the advertising side of things? I understand that RU-vid will put ads in my films, even if I am not monetised. Can I say what sort of ads they will be, or is that up to them? I would not like to be 'associated' with certain products and companies. I congratulate you on your success. I am certain that you will continue to thrive. You have an obvious love, and aptitude, for the whole process.
Great video bro. Ive had my channel for several years, but always used having a fulltime job and tending to my kids as my reasoning why i couldnt make more videos... within the last 2 years or so, although not very consistent, ive made the decision to be intentional about getting more videos uploaded. Not where i want to be as far as consistency, but i am progressing. All good things take time. Thanks for your motivation dude!
