A Toyota dealer near me is asking $48000 for an sr5 tacoma. That’s more than $10000 over msrp. Toyota is shooting themselves in the foot with these outrageous prices.
@@craigbucci7950 yes a dealership is asking… But it’s also on the consumers who have created this problem. A dealer can put whatever price they want on a sticker, nearly all manufacturers can do nothing about this. The real issue lies with the individuals who have bought in the past above MSRP for whatever stupid rationalized reason they gave themselves
Stop pushing these trucks. You are doing it for perks from manufacturers just like other automotive RU-vidrs. Shame on you. These trucks have too many problems to recommend along with the outrageous prices.
He presented the trim levels and options without "pushing" anything. Consumers can decide they are overpriced and decide to buy a different brand if they so choose. (By the way, I think they are indeed overpriced.)
@@2333jskinns false they keep plenty of vehicles as long term testers and even noted they didn’t want to keep the Tacoma as a long term tester in the sale video they posted… TFL is just fawning for likes from manufactures at this point. Them like all the other RU-vid accounts are raving about 4th gen’s they either buy and sell asap or just tell us how great the truck is while glossing over the multiple issues how many times did they mention the trans issue arising here 0 and they want us to be beta testers lol I will continue to pass
@@2333jskinnsThey only keep the ones that people will buy masses of. With Toyota recalling them, it’s a waste of time to make videos of it. So time to sell and move into something better.
I can help you out with this they are all garbage don't buy any of these rear axle problems transmission problems Motor problems in the future absolutely garbage stay away from these. Seriously all people have to do is their homework I don't know why this is so complicated for people, who cares about the logo in front of the vehicle do your research go with the third generation they're the best ones, and making a video telling people which one they should buy come on buddy you should know better than this don't deceive people, tell them to go buy 3rd Generation don't waste your time on this new piece of junk doesn't anybody care about anybody anymore!!!!
Very outdated trucks! Overrated too, don’t trust that twin turbo crap either. Yuck, just yuck. The Tundra was always a better truck until they ruined that. 🙄
TFL telling consumers which grossly overpriced Tacoma they should buy the week after they already sold their brand new 2024.. that’s rich. It’s a shame Toyota doesn’t sell balls or maybe this channel would have some..
I am a Toyota fanboy BUT the NEW Tacoma and Tundra are complete failures…instead look at Nissan Frontier with that 3.8 V6 gem. Truly, people with brains will look at naturally aspirated engines. No one can convince me otherwise.
I'm a fanboy too but that Tacoma is disgustingly expensive. The Tundra is cheaper than the rest but the previous generation looks better especially if you put a few mods to enhance style. They just failed immensely with this generation. The Sequoia is the only one that looks better to where I'd get that over the previous generation...scared to see the price of the 4runner...know it's gonna be stupid and cancel out how good it looks
I had a 23 Frontier. I now have a 24 Tacoma. The Frontier is like a Hyper Tough weedeater and the Tacoma is like a Stihl weedeater. Not even the same league.
@@SimonGonzalOSyou must not have dogs , there is no situation where the new sequoia is better than the previous one, less rear cargo space, fixed second row, that stupid ass shelf system, the rear axle that creates a WORSE ride for the people in the back….. the list can go on and on and on.
Body on frame decent power if the cab fit a big guy I'd buy one your right tho I do like the style if taco I'll wait a year or two before going 4c in a truck
I kinda thought the same thing until I drove one. The 2nd gen (4.0L) Tacoma had good power / torque but not enough gears. At elevation in Colorado, these vehicles struggle to do 80+ on the interstate. The 3rd gen (3.5L) Tacoma was a downgrade with the same problem cruising on the highway. The 4th gen with just the 2.4 turbo (no hybrid) cruises in top gear on Colorado interstates easily. The torque coming on early from the turbo makes it feel like a faster vehicle overall. Obviously we don't know longevity yet but the 4 cylinder turbo is a big upgrade over the previous two generations of V6. I've also driven the new Land Cruiser and while it's pretty good, it's not great. The GX fixes every complaint I have with the Land Cruiser -- including the powertrain, 2.4L turbo hybrid vs V6 twin turbo -- which is why I'm getting one of those instead.
@@Jojo-ni2cg impossible to know until these trucks have actually existed "long term". Yes, a smaller forced induction powertrain will be more stressed to produce the same power as a larger NA engine. If anybody can do it right, Toyota can. I'm in "wait and see" mode right now.
@@jimmy-buffettthank you for the rational take! I totally agree. The power and access to torque with the new turbos makes the vehicle so much more pleasurable to drive on highway/when merging. I totaled my previous generation Tacoma and was hesitant on buying the new one, but after test driving it literally solved all of the actual driving-related complaints I had with the previous generation. I still miss my v6 and the “trucky” qualities of the powertrain but a lot of that is just the machismo associated w cylinder counts 😂 these are great new trucks, IMO. I wish I could know the future reliability of the turbo and that is somewhat worrisome, but like you said, if anyone will do it right- I put my faith in Toyota
@@jimmy-buffett Not entirely true, turbo engines make peak torque at low rpms, there is a reason boosted engines are more efficient when driven moderately, and also a reason why most diesel engines are forced induction and last forever
Nah, Toyota have lost their way and just make some weird ass design decisions and are clearly scalping customers at this point. These 4 cylinder engines are rough….
@@TechJedi29 Please. We all know no one ever bought a Tacoma for doing actual truck stuff. Could you imagine towing a trailer with that horrid 3.5L V6. That thing sucked to drive in an empty truck.
Not just a criticism of Toyota, but at 65k, which is too much even for a full size, I don't see a justification for a midsized at this price. Yeah, I know you have to pay to play but you're also seeing truck inventory rising and incentives back (a least for full-sized pickups). A little sanity in pricing would be a welcome trend.
Why does everyone focus on the most expensive version? That's the Pro. They are not gonna sell very many of those, but I bet they sell everyone that is made. Their average sale will be mid $40s.
@@timalan7406 Mid 40s will get you a TRD Off-road with locker. High 30s is "bare-bones". Yes, more expensive then the last gen which was more expensive then the gen before, etc., etc. If people stop buying them, the price goes down.
I do not like that big screen sitting on the dashboard. It looks tacky and cheap. It should’ve been built into the dashboard. I wouldn’t buy the truck.
@Dusdaddy even TFL had an over heading issue with the trans. Donut media had an issue with the trans over heating in their review as well. Plus, on Tacoma world, foum their is an alarming amount of claims. Not hating, just saying 🤷
@@wb5jysman Did the temp ever exceed spec? No, it did not. So it never "overheated". Stop with the sky-is-falling crap over nothing. People did the same for the Hemi coolant system, it just runs hotter than other engines and that's fine.
@@Dusdaddy Thats the same thing people kept saying when the new Tundra started having problems... no big deal, oh its hardly any, its Toyota, etc etc... then they have to recall 100k of them for bad engines and don't even have a fix yet lol. Toyota is a different company that it was even 5 years ago... don't so blindly trust them
My brother in law has one. He only got it because it was cheaper than Tacoma. He doesn’t care for it. He wants a Ridgeline next, because he does a lot of driving. He wants that comfort, AWD, and excellent V6. GM is all plastics and awful drivetrain. Ford is just ok.
I heard these are having allot of transmission problems right now. I say wait a few years before you buy, let toyota work out the bugs in the new powertrain.
Okay I would agree with you if Toyota was making junk from day one I would say wait until they fix the bugs but the 2023 Tacoma and under are solid like an ox so your theory doesn't work, we know they could make Quality Transmissions we know they can make Quality Motors and use real metal to make their frames we all know the stuff so there is absolutely no excuse they have been making quality for so long, they have the experience in quality all of a sudden they come up with a new model and it's 100% garbage how can you justify this!!! Is it an accident of course not is there cutting Corners they're cutting costs because they want to make more money and produce a cheaper vehicle so it doesn't matter if you wait a couple of years they're still going to be junk!!!!
Thank you for saying this, I've been saying this exact thing since problems started instead of concluding that the entire generation is junk after 2-3 years with the Tundra and less then a year with the Tacoma
Toyota also needs to lower the prices...'big time', and make that rear back seat area bigger--or not make it in a 'crew cab' version........it's useless the way it is since they've been producing crew cab on the Tacoma. Toyota has their work cut out for them.....Should have kept the V^ and updated the tranny. Fixed the seating better. And 'tweaked' the other issues All at an Affordable price. This crap of setting these high prices and then 'gouging' you for 'add-ons, & packages' is a crock of bs ! Bye - bye
@@B126USMC 100% right the 23 model of the Tacoma and under very good truck like it had some small issues with the transmission searching for Gears big deal just fix it your rights make the back a little bit bigger makes more room they had a totally awesome truck it even feels more solid than the new one and it had a very good reliable V6 motor!!! A little bit of tweaks and that would have been the perfect truck but they had to go and ruin it!!! Bye Bye 👋
The “but it retains value” argument has gone out the window. TFL lost $5k on their Tacoma after selling it a few months & 7k miles later 💀 Frontier is the way for anyone looking for N/A bang for buck and reliability.
I drove the new ZR2. It’s cheap plastic inside that creaks. The engine is awful feeling. Looks great on the outside, but very poor inside. Just get a full size. GM is like Toyota. They rust and rot fast in 5 years.
I think the ZR2 is the best bang for your buck. fully loaded is still like 10k cheaper than the TRD PRO. you also get more torque than the Nissan pro 4x and front and rear lockers.
Okay so first Savagegeese channel and now TFL on defending the 4th Gen taco. How much did Toyota paid these guys for free marketing? I have a 1st Gen and 3rd Gen Tacoma and I bought Toyotas all my life, but the 4th Gen is a failure just like the recalled new tundra with severe crankshaft bearing issue. Buy a frontier or a titan. Or import a jdm diesel hilux. I'm not touching any Toyota product for another 5 -10 yrs to see if they can smooth out their issues.
I have been driving nothing but Toyotas for 30 years but I would not get any of their new line up even if their ridiculous price tag was 15k or 20k less, which should be for most the trims! The new Tundra and Tacomas are a fail! Of course now they managed to ruin the 4Runner as well! The only truck to get right now would be the naturally aspirated 4Runner before the joke they replaced it with comes up!
Toyota often has issues with most of their new generations for decades for first year. It’s nothing new. The new Supra they had was their most perfect Toyota ever sold. BMW built it with perfection.
@@ChubbyJontheBartender my Tacoma was pretty built out and close to unstoppable off road however I'm older now and looking for much more comfort. With do respect go drive a Tacoma then drive the Nissan. Honestly its night and day different. The Nissan is extremely comfortable and refined. Just enough modern tech but not over the top.
As a 3rd gen TRD Off-road owner, I was dead set on purchasing a new 4th gen. Once I saw that it had a 4 banger I had my doubts. Once I saw the price, I immediately NOPED.
Wouldnt buy one of these junk box trucks with.... rear drum brakes , uncomfortable seats, weak skinny import frame noisy interior thin sheet metal noooooo thanks Ill buy a quality American truck like an F-150
I’ll help. Don’t buy one until the transmission issues are taken care of. Remember this is a 4-cylinder turbo so please don’t try to tow with it. The Frontier still has a NA V6 though.
I've owned Toyotas for almost three decades, and I've never been more disappointed in the brand. Everything is worse than it used to be. I would stay far away from the new models.
@@jimmy-buffett there’s a website scraper that allows you to search Toyota inventory in the entire country. I just checked it and there are 18 Xtracabs currently. That includes Prerunners. Why are they even bothering to pretend they want to sell them?
I am sorry, I have to say you are WRONG. You kept saying. “You can Spec….” Toyota NO LONGER lets you choose, order or spec ANY option. There was a time but that is long gone. You get to choose what ever Toyota decides to give a particular dealer. That’s it! So as a buyer, you will have to go to many dealers and choose a vehicle that BEST meets your requirements. But you will NOT get everything you want. And 65k for a TRD Pro Taco is insane! Who the hell wants those bicycle shocks on your seat anyway! Toyota has LOST THEIR MIND!
I will hold on to my 2017 Tacoma TRD sport the 2024 Tacoma with a 4-cylinder Turbo too much Tech and planned obsolescence you're paying more getting less 😮
"Toyota Admits New Tacoma Has Serious Transmission Issues. Don't call it a recall, but Toyota will replace the eight-speed transmissions in certain Tacomas"
When you hire folks with minimal pay and CEO's taking a 46% raise, This is shown in the quality of their products. Do research of the issues these trucks are having, they are off the charts. If you have a 3rd gen or older you have a goldmine of the quality toyota used to be.
Minimal pay? They all got raises. Thats why the prices went up. Toyota is financially hurting. All their parts suppliers doubled their prices, because of pay increase and overhead.
They come with a replacement transmission for the 2024 models, or a new motor for the new tundras, Toyota is building shit now like every other manufacturer.
I opted for that exact off road, right that down platform t and options. Love it, my gen3 off road was good, the 24 is better in performance, comfort, and styling. Also tows much better. Long term performance with the 2.4 turbo has yet to be determined.
I'll brag about my 2019 Tundra V8 Limited with 38,000 miles too and for across Country trips I use my 2012 CR-V with 90,000 miles on it and I'll NEVER buy a newer Tundra. As a matter of fact my Tundra will sell for more than I paid for it after all the extra fees and taxes.
This was one of the best videos I’ve watched that clearly shows the different trim levels of a vehicle and I’m all for it! Keep up this kind of content. Helps buyers choose which model they want before a test drive
Way too much money for a 4-cylinder turbo and either the hybrid model. Ridiculous. Plus with all that technology computer crap the insurance companies have to raise their prices by at least $100 a month. To cover stuff that you'll never use hardly. Toyota needs to get back to making trucks and not computer chips on wheels. And 6 cylinders and 8s
Over 63k for a TRD pro with no options when MSRP on a ranger raptor with delivery is 57,300. No deal as the raptor has more equipment and can curb stomp the tacoma.
I was waiting for the iForcemax (Hybrid) MPG and price numbers to come out. Let's just say I was very disappointed in both numbers. You make a hybrid, but you use it for more torque, not efficiency. OK, but it's a mid-sized truck. If you're towing frequently, you're probably in the full size market. Like many Tacoma owners, it's my daily driver, and I use it for DYI projects and hiking/camping adventures. I needed higher efficiency, not more towing capability. I feel like they really missed the mark there.
This is bullish!.. I feel ripped off .. I paid 57,000$ for my 2024 Tacoma 3 months ago here in Florida….. why are your prices so low…I got the TDR Sport with the JBL stereo the big screen 55,000$ after taxes EXT. it came out to 57,999$
Toyota's new trucks have only proven two things: 1) Too expensive for what they are, and against their competition 2) Potentially least reliable Toyota products of all time. From the Tacoma grill shutters, manual trans issues, and completely unproven 2.4 Turbo, to the Tundra's many issues past, and present. I'll watch from the sidelines with my 14 5.7 v8 Tundra and hope Toyota can fix this complete mess they created.
Why would anyone buy a truck that is overpriced with engine and transmission failures not to mention replacing a strong V6 and V8 with a turbo L4 because their engineers apparently are not smart enough to design. They created an electric truck and claimed specifications that are borderline fraud. I have owned Toyota trucks for over 20 years to include Tacoma’s and Tundras but I just replaced my old Tundra with a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition and I am very pleased with it to include the V6. I am done with Toyota Trucks they are much too arrogant and absolutely ignore the customer's wants and needs. IMHO.
The new tacomas are junk. My 3rd Gen is going OK at 134,000 miles . My next truck will likely be a chevy unfortunately. The 4th Gen tacomas are worse than 3rd Gen for issues and tundra spins bearings. No thanks. Tacoma is more worried about shiny and interior rather than durability and performance.
Ive noticed how tight lipped this channel has been around the Tacoma. It’s laughable, they clown on Andre and his colorado for having the software issues but never broke mechanically and helped saved that tacoma when broken. Dont hold back TFL!!! They def have a gag order about toyota products so obvious
Just find it funny that everyone wanted a tough and reliable, simple and basic utilitarian affordable truck(i.e. overseas Hilux) and instead Toyota rolls out an overpriced extremely-complex Rav4 with a bed. The downfall of Toyota's reputation needs to be studied.
The fully loaded Off Road in Solar Octane for $46,000 delivered- now I'm interested. But, at $56,000- I'll buy a used 2021 Tundra for nearly half that price.
Toyota is finally doing it. They are taking a brand name that took 4 decades to build up and throwing it away by getting greedy and overpricing these vehicles. Tell me where I've made "the smart guy decsion" when I pay over 10k more for a truck that's supposedly a more reliable name plate. How much money am I saving on that "reliability factor"?? Tell me that Taco boys. I'm sure most of you are suburban guys who work IT/Tech jobs and go off a paved road maybe twice a year with your smart guy Tacoma. Tell me how much I'm saving for the "Toyota Tariff"? Is it worth it? Is it REALLY worth that extra money? The answer to all these questions is buy a Nissan Frontier Pro4x for less than $40k or even a Z71 Colorado or 4x4 Ranger (and I don't even like FORDs) because each one of those alternatives is not less reliable enough to justify spending 10-20k more on a Toyota name plate. The days of Taco dominating the mid-sized market are over this generation. Mark my words, bookmark my post. June 2024 is the time.
I think we all agree fornthe first time, tbese Tacomss are way overpriced and out of touch with reality. For a Mexican 4 cyl truck is too much money. The only power we have is not to buy or send letter. Journalist and channel like this one should raise our voice as they have direct line with Toyota. STOP the greed!!@
Watch icon suspension break there shock tower under 50 miles watch tfl break a diff watch them break a manual transmission probably should even think about buying one get a land cruiser its the only thing they build that isnt trash so many short cuts so much mark up
I really wanted one until I found out about the powertrain. Until they throw in a V6 twin-turbo with 400+ horsepower, there won't be one in my driveway. That's why I'm eyeballing the ranger raptor right now.
Nice explanation of the different models . I like that Toyota has given their customers different options but and this is a big butt the prices are just outrageous on these trucks I think Toyota is goning have a hell of a time trying to selling these trucks. I have a 07 tundra with a 150000 miles I waited for the new time to come out and from the first time I seen it I thought it was ugly as hell and now they have all these issues with this truck. I knew the new Tacoma would be coming out shortly and I gotta say I do like the truck but the prices are just ridiculous seriously these trucks are 10 to 15000 over priced.
Was going to buy one of these, until all of the issue started coming about. Now... Transmission failures with either a 4 month wait to fix (automatic) or NO repair fix for the stick-shift.
