Just in case if any of you guys didn't understand, some Japanese names sound the same but use different characters when writing them. Since Light only heard the second victim's name he tried out every possible character, which made it look like he wrote many people's names down in the Death Note.

I was another who wanted to check the hype ages after release and I was totally floored by this anime. 100/10. 🔥

Death Note is just one of those shows that is just timeless in my opinion, this show is def a top 10 for me and the only show that I honestly prefer the dub but don't get it twisted the sub is still just as great but this is the only show I prefer dub (except for Lights laugh that goes to sub all the way) I hope you guys enjoy this show as much as I did!

There are always bound to be some subtitles that native speakers are going to miss, and Light writing the name of the man he saw harassing the woman is one of those cases. He wrote the name several times because he only heard it and didn't see the correct writing, so he had to guess, which is apparently very difficult and a way to show how intelligent Light is.

perhaps one of the most amazing qualities of this series is the soundtrack, hope you enjoy as much as I did when watching this ❤

The most amazing piece of psychological drama I've ever seen. This show is unbelievable. Beyond genius. Light should be a case study. Just to see what would happen if a gifted 17yo student w 200iq happened to put his hands on the most deadly weapon of all time...

this is one of the og classics of anime, old but gold... and this is one of the few that the dub is actually really good too, can't wait 👍

I'm watching this Anime for the first time ever. After each episode I rewatch it with you two on here. I've been doing this with a few Animes now, haha. I like it because it also allows me get a different perspective on things or maybe you see things I may have missed. Maybe even if you understand something I don't. Who knows, but it's fun. I know you two watched this a while ago but that's ok. I'm ready!

Death note is one of my favorite anime. This show is a masterpiece

death note is actually one of the few animes i HIGHLY highly recommend to watch in dub and i am an avid sub only but there are some exceptions to me

This is very few animes where i prefer Dubbed over the original japanese dubbed

This is probably the only anime that I would prefer dubbed rather than subbed tbh but it is AMAZING regardless 🔥🔥

One thing I'd highly recommend is when you get to the final episode watch it in English dub, as far as English dubbed animation goes Light Yagami's voice actor (Brad Swaile) gives the greatest voice acting performance I've ever heard so far in that episode.

8:45 there are many ways to write a similarly-pronounced name with kanjis in Japanese, so Light tried all the ways he could think of.

It took me less than 2 days to watch this masterpiece! I just couldn't stop watching it until I finished it!

"Is the main character a bad guy?" That's really what you have to figure out. This show is really a mental exercise. I am glad you guys got to this one. It's a very fun show. It really makes you think. You should definitely be able to recognize Ryuk. That's one of the things the Netflix series got right. You will have an easier time catching on with this show. It is well crafted. Each episode is purposeful. There's not really slow moments. Each episode is an important piece in a giant puzzle. (up to a certain point. ;) ) If you like crime dramas, this is like an ultimate crime drama. Be prepared for twists and turns. This show will bring out many emotions. There are no physical roller coasters in this version, but it is quite a ride. I think you'll enjoy it.

As many others have commented on here, I also would highly recommend you watch the English dub version. On any other anime, I would never make this suggestion, and in fact, this is the only anime I have ever watched with a dub.
