I have been fortunate enough to attend the concerts of many of the icons of our time eg Whitney, Luther, Prince, Lionel etc. However, none of them were able to match the love (lies) , charisma and emotion that George demonstrated at his shows. He was a genuine showman and in my experience, I don’t think that I will ever attend a better live performance than George always gave - a true legend and who is sorely missed ❤😢❤

I so want to thank you for your format that picks an artist and performs a deep dive into music that should be heard but wasn't as popular as other sonds in a catalog. It shows great maturity on your part, and wisdom in the learning process. Roxanne is a cover from Sting, so not likely well known. America did George wrong when they busted him for a lewd act. Trumped up charges and humiliated him because he was famous. The supposed fair journalism in America is anything but. We all killed George's heart in so many ways...RIP George. I miss you so much.

My heart will always be given to George Michael. He had such a fight to be who he was and never gave a hell what people thought of him even in the privacy of his home he might of felt all the prejudice and ignorance that was always given us gay people in such times before the 90s. Like someone has already pointed out Roxanne is a cover of an old Police/Sting song but in GM's version it is less judgemental (I'm so glad you picked that up because that says so much of George as a person) and less "entitled" than the original. Roxanne is a Sting cover that he put on his cover album Songs From The Last Century released in 1999. He also sang Roxanne again during his last tour in 2011-2012. Going To A Town is a Rufus Wainwright cover(another gay artist that went through a lot). Another note George admitted to liking singing other people's songs more than his own in a mid 00s in an interview so you will catch a lot of covers as you keep watchin live performances. I highly recommend his live album Symphonica recorded 2011-2012 during his last tour. His vocals sound so good with the orchestra you will melt
The way he changed Roxanne and made it sound like a classic jazz song is pure genius and sounds so much better than the original. Actually he improved all the covers he did.

Going To A Town was written and originally sung by Rufus Wainwright. There is a great synopsis of the song on Songfacts. I understand where he was coming from. I love America with all my heart but we can sure get things wrong and mess things up sometimes. I often worry that we are losing the prestige we used to have around the world. That makes me sad because believe me that respect was hard fought for. It also really worries me.
The only concert I have ever been moved enough to go online and search for it ... and pay way over asking price. Worth every penny. Watch it at least every year as a commemoration to GM. "Roxanne" (the second song) is a cover of a song by Sting. GM turned it into a jazzy song and made it sublime. The king of covers.
