One thing that's interesting about McCloud in this movie is that he never seeks out the others. He never hunts his comrades. They have to come to him.

Whenever an immortal kills another one, he gets his power very visually. It's called the quickening. This is a great movie, but all of the sequels are awful. The TV series was good, though.

It's been years since I watched it but highlander end games if I remember right was a pretty good movie. I think it was the last one, done after the series

The duel on Boston Common was perfectly placed as a tension break after the poignancy of Connor saying goodbye to his beloved Heather. Interestingly, the flashback to Connor's rescue of Rachel and the duel itself were cut from the original American release.

Clancy Brown is so wonderfully entertaining as The Kurgan. Strangely, he ended up not getting paid for his role (budget issues). Also, some of the technical elements are entirely inaccurate. A nihonto (traditional Japanese sword) blade will never be folded 200 times. It would be completely useless in battle. If folded 8 times, it would have 256 layers, which is probably what they meant, but got the terms mixed up.

I suggest watching The 13th Warrior (1999). The location is amazing and the fight scenes are pretty good. It's a guilty pleasure for my friends and I.

This is my favourite movie ever, but yeah, the lore doesn't really make sense. The general idea is that when they kill (behead) each other, they get the other one's "power" - but they never define what "power" is. When MacLeod wins the Prize, the power of all the immortals, it is a sort of total oneness with the entire planet. So he could facilitate world peace, in theory. And also he now gets to have kids and grow old. Really enjoyed this reaction video! I've been watching the movie for over 25 years, it's cool to see someone reacting to it for the first time in 2021.

You said you were confused on the terms so I’ll clear it up for youaa :aaew was s wasaqa 1. Quickening: when one immortal kills another in battle the loser’s essence is transferred to the winner, giving him the loser’s knowledge, skills, and sometimes even memories or personality traits (though this is rarer) 2. Gathering: when Ramirez mentioned that they would one day be drawn to fight in a far off place one day, this is what he was referring to; the plot of the film is basically The Gathering 3. The Prize: the sum of all the quickenings throughout The Game 4. The Game: the world’s immortals are destined to fight until there’s only one remaining 5. There Can Be Only One: see above point 4

Great reaction, Russell Mulcahy who directed the film was well known as an Australian music video director before doing this movie and asked Queen to do one song for it and they ended up doing the whole soundtrack, Russell repaid Queen by directing the music videos for 'Princes of the Universe" and "It's A Kind Of Magic" from the soundtrack which was included on Queens A Kind Of Magic album

19:35 The quickening explosions and rotoscoped electricity didn't happen because he stabbed the human, it was just delayed reaction from beheading Kastagir. People have described the rules of the game, so I won't reiterate those. The Prize appears to be mortality and reading the minds of everyone in the world. Why? Because. And there was no backstory for the Kurgan. He's just lived a super long life and may be a bit batty from all of that living.

the quickening gives the winner all the powers, knowledge, and fighting skills of the person they beheaded. so they are literally getting stronger with each victory. this was a great movie. it ties into the the tv series and vice versa the tv series ties into the sequels. what order that is im not sure. its been a while. i only saw the movies the one time. they were not too memorable🤷🏻‍♀️😂

The members of Queen read the script and asked to do the soundtrack. The Quickening is a term related to animal behaviour when female animals like deer rams elk snd the like ho into heat, then the males of the species battle to determine which one gets to mate with yh r gemales. You see this all the time in nature videos. Where Rams butt their heads together. The term was used to relate yhe characters to these types of animals fighting for the prize. Being a metaphor for the woman. They can't have children until they are the winner, just like in the animal kinhdom.

Ok simple explanation on the parts that confused you. When an immortal kills another immortal they absorb the other other immortals power. And they keep doing that until only one is left holding all the power.

Great movie. One of the best sci fi sword movies ever made. The did not plan for a sequel so the sequels are pretty bad beside end game. FYI you know the start sequence Sean Conrey recorded in the toilet :) . A great Sean Connery rip movie is The name of the rose.

I would say fantasy movie over sci fi but yeah. Once you go out of that genre it's sword fighting scenes are just ok. Films like The Lone Wolf And Cub series, Sleepy Eyes of Death, 13 Assassins, and The Duellists are simply in a different class. If you haven't seen them give them a try. (especially Lone Wolf and Cub)

Great movie with weird accents. French American actor playing a Scot. Scottish actor playing a Spanish Egyptian. I have a solid recommendation, there are a few sequels to this movie....DO NOT WATCH THEM! An utter waste of videotape. 💚🐇🐴💚

The idea behind Highlander is great but the story is full of holes and the casting is bad and great at the same time and Clancy Brown is great as the Kurgan
