I really feel this show holds up fairly well, mostly due to the ironic nature of its humor. There was stuff that did not age well (I can't believe I had to hear Vic say the T slur). But in general its fantastic and somehow wonderfully queer

I can't remember if its in the anime or manga or if its a theory i read, but im pretty sure at some point they heavily imply Kyoya is giving something to Honey to keep him short and looking child-like BECAUSE Honey would look exactly like Tamaki and wouldnt be able to do his cute-for-sweets bit and they cant have that cause thats bad for their business

I remember in like the first official volume of the manga there one of those little character sheets for honey and it said that he could "shrink at will" or smth along those lines that basically got the point across that his size is just. Something he has full control over 💀

One change they make that I hate about the anime is that Mori runs off to fucking buy her her prescription which how do they even fucking have that info whereas in the manga Mori just lends Haruhi his spares because he also has to wear contacts. Still not medically recommended but it makes more sense than "We have access to your medical info"

I'm convinced to this day that Ouran (or its anime adaptation at least) was in on the joke. So much of its elements seem very meta to me. At least that was my thesis when I forced a friend to watch it with me in our twenties (she ended up having a lovely time :D)... But yeah, my character arc was evolving from a Tamaki fan to a full-on Renge appreciator. Make of that what you will. ^^ PS: though my love for Haruhi is and remains intact, and everything you've said about her is absolutely true. She was a game changer, and we stan people stanning Haruhi Fujioka in this house. :)

The surge of pure joy and excitement I felt seeing this thumbnail made even the horrors I am enduring seem unimportant (my tummy hurts so yk that's saying something). Also I started the yuri on ice dub today and it is AMAZING. Proper 90s digimon vibes but most of the main characters are doing bad russian accents. I barely even wanna suggest it since I really wanna see you do more ouran, but I do think it'd be funny. Maybe do it for disability pride month? The closest thing to disabled rep in anime is like that one violin girl and piano boy anime, and a cripple requested it!

I remember once watching the show and I took a few day break only for Netflix to remove it. I was bummed out but then by the end of he week it was back. Later one I happened to be on Tumblr and it was removed again, the fandom was going absolute feral to the point it was back within two days. Say what you will, but I choose to hc that Netflix can't take Ouran off because they know and fear the fandom.

In the manga host club was alot less transphobic and homophobic and the anime didn’t cover about 10 volumes …. And those volumes went into even more depth on the characters .The manga and anime is great but I wish they did an anime reboot ! Love this video !!!!

Glee theorem: glee is the reason you have more gay rep in TV and movies nowadays, Kurt Hummel fought his way through the trenches so that every other show with gay rep could run. Before glee, f*g was the it-girl no-thought insult, but after glee, in most social circles, it completely died out. You could do an actual research paper on how much the amount of gay rep on-screen increased post-2010ish compare to pre-2008ish. Glee IS the paradigm shift, she was THE moment. And yet for all that, that show still sucks ass.
