I love the Dead Milkmen, and this is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Actually listen to the lyrics in this song, mk? Again, Joe Jack does not capo his guitar (as far as I know), I just did that so it was more in my range.
One of my favorite Milkmen songs. One of those songs that formed my life as it is today. You absolutely did it justice. Thank you very much for sharing!
I'm not sure what amazes me more. Recalling this song, and its brilliance, from my youth, or watching this young woman not only play this with passion, but sing with sublety and with an understanding that she cannot have from experiencing life in the late 70s and early/mid 80s - when we watched Scotty die.
I've been listening to your cover of Watchin' Scotty Die for about five years now off and on. I always drag my way through a hundred other posts just to find it because you found something in these lyrics that even the Dead Milkmen didn't know was there. You have probably moved on with your life, and don't think much about having posted this, but you are making people cry everywhere. This isn't the funny little song they wrote. This is the tragedy. I love this. Thanks.
I'm quite shocked. This is beautiful and shows incredible finesse. I laughed until I cried (not sure if God cared), when I heard this in 1986 and I eat my paisley big time. This woman shocked me back 20 fu'ing years - thank you and I will most certainly make sure my 9 year old 'watches Scotty Die'.
One of my favorite jingles, great job. I used to play it all the time for my daughter when she was about two years old wanted to let her know the reality we live in with a warm Happy tune
I've been on a Dead milkmen Binge for the last 40 minutes reliving my early high school years in the early 90's and I totally forgot about this song, good job 👍
