The cell phone falling out of Billy’s pocket after he came through her window should have made him immediately suspicious, but if you were born after 1996 you may not have been aware that it was not commonplace to own a cell phone in the 90s 😂 That was great to see!

Once you watch more classics you’ll appreciate this movie even more. Scream is exceptionally self-aware, clever, and open with its meta-horror, and in doing so really showed how to lean into the tropes we’ve come to know and love without feeling unoriginal. Love it

Drew Berrymore and the actors who played Casey parents and Steve are so underrated. All 4 of them really sold it.

Neve Campbell as the lead is one of the best final girls. This movie is ICONIC, it literally changed the face of horror due to how self aware and self knowing it is. You should do the sequels, it's all one story..

What you're looking at is that in 1996 most adults didn't have cell phones. A teenager walking around with a cell phone was almost unheard of; so when he dropped a cell phone in front of her, it was very suspect. Nowadays, cell phones are basically an appendage. Scream is actually ICONIC in every sincere sense of the word (that word is overused now but this film deserves it). Drew Barrymore is just straight up killed in the first 10 minutes which completely shocked everyone when this movie came out. She was in the freaking movie poster as one of the main stars! It also completely changed horror with its meta commentary of the genre and revitalized slasher films in the ‘90s.

I love rewatching the scene with Rose. She really could have fit in the Doggie door. It’s clear that the movie made it look like Rose couldn’t fit through the door when you rewatch it. If you want to watch another Horror movie starring the Scooby Gang check out “I know what you did last summer” same writer who did Scream. I Know what you did last summer is also a Classic

The opening scene was so surprising at the time because Drew Barrymore was the biggest star name in the movie and they killed her off before the titles. This was so you knew anything could happen to anyone after.

there were some iconic horror movies in the 90s - you should absolutely watch The Craft, I Know What You Did Last Summer, & Blair Witch Project at some point. and for dark comedies, you should watch Death Becomes Her, The Witches (1990), Cruel Intentions, Jawbreaker, & Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)

This is forever the first film we break out the first week of October. Even more iconic, is we have it on VHS and always watch it that way. It makes it just more nostalgic I guess, like when we used to watch 'Scream' at sleepovers but always had the TV button, with the appropriate channel, ready to go. So many films I watched that way! Also, still love me some 90's Matthew Lillard. Mmmhmm! Drew was also my artistic muse by the end of the 1990s, and still is in some ways. Also, if you are gonna watch Friday the 13th, definitely watch the first two.

Also, all these years later and I'm still mad about Tatum's death. And let me just say thank you for being upset by it because the last couple people I saw react were like "Meh, we didn't like her anyway" and okay, they're entitled to their opinion even when it's wrong but it was great to see someone appreciating her! The opening was Wes Craven's tribute to "Psycho." The beginning of that movie had Janet Leigh (Jamie Lee Curtis' mom) in it, and many people went because she, like Drew Barrymore with Scream, was featured on all of the promotional material. And then BAM she dies right at the beginning of the film.

This was his first movie, He went on to write, the vampire diaries (first 3 seasons), Dawson’s creek (his autobiography, he’s Dawson and jack), the following, and many other movies and tv shows .

real life murders related to this oof scream is based on a real serial killer too, the gainesville ripper. the things kept are the phone terror, home invasion and the people who were victimised (thats it i think). and then there was the murder of poor cassie jo stoddart, where the murderes apparently copied some things from the movie...

I realized you hadn't seen it when you didn't recognize them and when you didn't recognize neve at all it hurt my wee feelings. I was obsessed with her in the 90s and her brother is also an actor who looks like her but with kinda golden eyes, will make you swoon

What I really love about this movie is how its one of the firsts where women are the lead and save themselves. Way ahead of its time.

1. What I like most about doing this is watching people overthink it. Thank GOD for the twist ending. 2. Cell phones weren't prevalent in 1996. 3. Dewey's superior IS the janitor since Wes Craven did the cameo as Freddy Kruger. 4. The principal Hembrey was the Fonz/Henry Winkler. Fonzi's leather jacket is hanging in the closet. 5. Tatum/Rose McGowan as long as I have a face.😋😍 6. The woman reporter asking, "What's it like to be almost brutally murdered?" is played by Linda Blair/Reagan from "The Exorcist". 7. I love how the inept killer keeps getting his ass kicked🤣

Yesssss I've only really been watching horror movies since around Halloween 2020 (horror's my new fav genre) and Scream was one of the first ones I watched! Loved your reaction as usual haha 😍 A classic I would recommend is John Carpenter's The Thing. I just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and the 1980's practical effects still hold up (imo) and it's genuinely scary! Hope you had a great Halloween! 🎃❤

Me and my dad own all the screams films on dvd I have not seen any of them but seen clips and trailers of scream 1996 and I’m already obsessed I saw the first couple of minutes with drew when I was in primary school (around 10) and OMG 😮 why did the teacher allow us to watch that scene as kids I’m now 16 and I hate horrors but scream is soooooo good yet so horrifying watching it now just shows how bloody obvious that the killers were billy and stu the phone falling and everything the motive wow psycho much the fact that scream is based off of true life events makes it 10x as scary
