1. Things to come.
2. Things we learnt.
3. Insurance outcome.
"Isaiah 59"
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.

Super impressed by this guys, your contrition and honesty is commendable. Keep putting out content like this and I'll follow, you rarely get to see stuff like this, from blokes just starting out and willing to learn along the way.

I have to agree and we all have to learn by experience and the knowledge from others. With water crossings I have to say I haven't walked across every water crossing I driven through and floated away a few times (thankfully without permanent damage) but its always a risk. I like your honesty and comments about the aftermath and wish you all well. I love your vids too, keep it up and tread lightly. g

Appreciate the comment Emmett. Wouldn't be fair to bump it off to someone else, besides, I wouldn't be able to let the triton go even if I had too. thanks again!

Lads, lessons learnt the hard way in hindsight are the best ones learnt & make for really good camp fire stories in the years to come. Keep at it and keep getting out there & keep it shiny side up.

Hey guys, I came across your triton upgrade vid which led me 2 this. Wow, 2 word's to describe this, ballsy or stupid or both. Seriously though you're not the only ones to have come unstuck attempting this especially with little experience. Best way as u mentioned is walk in 2 check depth. Sometimes the best way to learn is the hard way. Felt ya pain watching the aftermath with all the water pissing out of everything. Good video and hopefully inspires and educates others. Subbing your channel boys, keep up the good work. Cheers

Just a note to add, avoid wadding in large muddy rutts and such like you hit with the triton unless you're right near your vehicle. If it's deep, especially like that one, and you step into a pit you can't see or a whole like that one and into the thick sticky mud you might get stuck with a quick sand like effect and that's a bad mix for a rutt like that...

Top men that takes courage to admit a mistake! Many things to learn but it is why we head off road, learn the vehicles capabilities, us as drivers and supporting other drivers through obstacles and what we can improve, skills or modifications to the vehicles. My suggestions for setting up a capable truck. Tyres, get some Mud terrains, keep your roadies for on the road and throw the muddies on for 4wding. Snorkel for you know what. Some protection up front like a winch bar and fit a winch that is rated more than your vehicle, ie 10,000lb or more for your Triton. Diff locker really does help. You end up not thrashing the vehicle so much through obstacles. Not necessarily in that order but its a good place to start and most those items should not effect your warranty. Another good idea is to maybe head out with another couple of trucks as well. I look forward to more content from you guys!!

Good honest assessment of what happened and how to avoid it, guess thats all part of learning. Hopefully some people take notice of what happened to you and ignore the 4WD Action method you used. Also another vote for Club 4X4 insurance.

Everyone has to learn how to do it themselves- and half the fun is trying it on to see if you can do it!- Ive broken tailshafts, ripped a sump open- its all part of off roading to try your limits, anyone who hasnt broken something offroading hasnt been offroading lol (most of your haters probably havent even driven on a gravel road let alone actual offroading) One point I think should be made is never try the extremes alone, its best to be in a group so if you try it and dont make it, you can get pulled out- or at least dont have to walk home if something goes majorly wrong! Another handy thing to have as well as a snatchup strap is a solid drawbar- I got one I made up out of 2" thickwall pipe, fitted with a massive D couple welded on at one end and a trailer hitch at the other that lives in the tray of the ute, its been used several time for towing out, last one was when a turbo blew when it overheated we suspect on a long hillclimb in low 1st- it blew and the motor shut down- the advantage of a solid drawbar is it makes the towed car less likely to run into you like using a strap, plus its legal here for onroad towing (saving the cost of a towtruck) where as a chain, strap or rope isnt legal to tow onroad anymore

Nice video mate. I did the exact same thing over in perth the other weekend in a new navara. Ute is still showing an engine light but drives ok. Good to see im not the only one who nearly destroyed a new ute doing this shit. Gotta learn somewere though mate, im like you and didnt have much 4wd experience but the best way to learn is through doing!
@Up-CloseReviews
@Up-CloseReviews 6 лет назад
Yes lol its unfortunate that guys like us are practical learners but thats just what it is. As much as it sucks it was a good experience and definitely learnt from it and makes for a good story to tell. Goodluck with the ute I hope theres no long term damage.

Why did you guys choose a triton over say hilux or navara other then the fact that it's more affordable. Do tritons give high mileage like Toyota? Also tritons torque comes in at 2000 rpm as opposed to 1500 by it's competitors does that make a considerable difference?
@Up-CloseReviews
@Up-CloseReviews 6 лет назад
Rushabh Shah I definitely agree with the lag of the turbo. It has been noticeable that it comes in later then some other higher end utes (hilux,ranger,Amarok) however in most cases for the same amount of accessories etc your paying minimum $10,000 more for another company. In some cases $15,000. To me that's not worth it over some turbo lag. In term of durability. I've thrashed my triton probably more then anyone has thrashed a car for 20,000ks and I didn't have one problem. I know people that have had gear box problems etc I there hilux,s and rangers only 15000ks in not driving half as hard as I have. Personal opinion, but for me I defiantly wouldn't look past a triton.

most insurances should cover offroad incidents as these are public unsealed roads, unless that was on a private property..
@lesliegossner681
@lesliegossner681 6 лет назад
psy06 Check your insurance before you go on a 4x4 adventure. Some will cover any incident off-road while others require it to be a gazetted road. I say that as my 4x4 is getting rebuilt the second time in 18months after an off-road incident. Thanks NRMA

Jonathan Joseph I'm with budget direct and they cover for off road and way cheaper then most
@jonathanjoseph7528
@jonathanjoseph7528 6 лет назад
I was with budget direct but they wouldnt cover all my accessories as I have too much ($12,000 worth) or if some thing happened on unamed tracks, or tracks were a normal tow truck could not access. I pay $100 more to have Club 4X4 cover me with much more options. I also have my daughter on her learners and Budget told me that to have her on the policy was going raise my perimium by $1020 per year more and I couldnt remove the age restictions on who drives as a cheaper option, were at Club 4X4 they allowed me to do that.

Jamie Sonego wouldn't cover my off road recovery as I towed it from the track to a dirt road as it was considered a track, there was no way it was gonna be recovered where it was. And said only covered for first 50km which in there policy states for a sealed road which my car wasn't on wasn't sealed until another 30km or so.
