I bought a beautiful 2012 F10 535xi BMW and the headlight had some condensation inside. I was hoping I could take the headlight out and dry it, but it took a turn for the worse. watch the rest of the series with the links below!

I did this repair DIY on my front yard in my F10. My chip (TMS module) was soaking wet and had corrosion on it. What you need to do is let it dry out, use a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol and scrub off the corrosion and clean the board up. This should fix the issue, mine has been 16 months since I resealed the headlight housing unit and no problems. If this doesn't work, your board is probably shot and you'll need a new one, it has a part number on it so have a look online if you can find one that matches. It shouldn't need coding either, they're plug and play and work on both the driver and front passenger side I believe.

Thank you for the great information! I did do this with my board and I tried to clean it up but after re assembly it was shot. It has been over 4 months now and really wet rainy weather and I no longer have leaks! Thankfully my headlight works! But the blinker and halos do not.

After it dries, smoke test the light with a little air pressure. You will find the leak/s. To save money, I would suggest sealing the cracks with a sealant. Another option, as you mentioned, is to buy good used assembly. I am in the same boat with my 2014 535iX. Good luck sir.

Hey man idk if you watch my next few videos of the series. But I find the leak with some soapy water and compressed air. I do not break the seal and remove the lens’s I use some cheap harbor freight 2 part epoxy where the leak was. Let it dry for a day. The next day when im certain it was dry I then do the same soapy water test with compressed air and the light was sealed perfectly!!! I still daily drive the car and have zero moister so it has defiantly sealed the issue! But now i still need to replace the mother board and a few components that were ruined!!! Thanks for watching

@@JoezGarage I just finished watching the other videos. Thanks for making them bro! 👍 I actually lived in 44118 for several years. Totally understand the weather there. Yeah, definitely seal those leaks, moisture can ice up. Thanks again!

Im having same issue with my friend’s 2014 535 passenger side headlight , how do you order it ? what is the options on the headlight? the active headlight malfunction on dash , im a benz guy and know nothing about bmw , try to order one and scare to order a headlight that is non work on his car

@@MBZXZ Get the part number off of the headlight. There is a BMW label on the very top. Remove the plastic panel/cover to view. In 2014, U.S. market F10 models had either Xenon or LED. Also, Self-Leveling was available. Also, you can visit the Parts Dept. at your BMW dealer. They will tell you exactly what you need. Good luck!

Sorry I missed your reply! And our guy @jwherron got it covered! I keep looking for a car in the salvage auction I can buy and or a wrecked one in my buddys junkyard! But you can buy all the parts on the internet if you match numbers up also!

I think your probably right anything that can fill that gap and block that water from getting past the seal. The epoxy I used just happened to be the cheapest stuff I had at the time lol!

Hey man! 3 months later heavy rain and I’m still dry. My halos still don’t work or blinkers. The board was pretty shot But the headlight works well still and it’s stayed dry so I’m happy with it. I’m going to buy new board for it very soon and I’ll make a video about that also

Replacing the module won’t help because they will get water damage again. You have to find the leak and repair it before buying a new module. eBay has great after market prices.

Your right! I actually show where the headlight housing is leaking / sealing it up with some cheap epoxy and a few road tests to show it’s holding up in my next few videos !

11 bolts just for the wheel well damn that shits not going anywhere haha is it a special kind of headlight? maybe you could find just a board if everything else wasn't too soaked
@JoezGarage
@JoezGarage 8 месяцев назад
Lol right, and it’s a crazy special headlight based off the model of this car. Other 5 series bro have cheaper headlights but this is the best model of the car which comes with the adaptive headlights it turns with the wheel and has a motor inside yada yada … I’ve gotten lucky and found one before for under 200$ but I don’t se any right now for less the 500-800$ 😑 And there’s options but nothings a quick cheap fix

Unfortunately I’ve had my back cover pop off twice and got water in the housing. I just replaced it with a $80 headlight module from Amazon and code it in and back to normal.

You can buy these boards online , need to reprogram with ista , they get wet again 🫣 bad design
@JoezGarage
@JoezGarage 7 месяцев назад
Terrible design for sure. This is my second or 3rd time on different f10 5 series with this problem. The first times I just bought a different headlight. But I just don’t have it in me yet. Maybe I will get a board online and program it I’m just afraid there’s much more damaged and when I buy the new board that won’t fix it and it may even burn that board up. I did fix the seal in later videos! And I have a results test going to drop soon! Thanks for watching

Wenn ich sehe was an einem sogenannten Premium-Modell hier geschraubt werden muss um an einem beschissenen Scheinwerfer zu kommen für auszubauen könnte ich im Dreieck kotzen 10:59

It’s sad because it is the premium model headlight. It’s a common issue. And it’s defiantly broken I need to replace the board. But atleast it’s sealed now I fixed it with some epoxy around the headlight lens and housing. Go watch the rest of the videos if you want to see how I did it!
