get a drone much cheaper than a helicopter and fits in the truck seat. so glad your well is up and running.
@Basrijn
@Basrijn 6 лет назад
This! With something like DroneDeploy you can take a few hundred images and stitch them together. Then load that image in a free GIS package like qGIS and draw in your properly lines (if you have GPS coordinates from cadaster) and water lines, electrical lines etc etc. I've done this a bunch of times and it works great

Bas R Yep. You can make a 3D model on a computer then print topographic maps of your property and surrounding land. Helps with water management planning (ponds, swales, etc.).

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. A drone is a good economical way to get aerial photos or video and really get to know the land. Plus side is you own it!

Seems like you could raise goats. Not only will they clean up those 40 acres, but leave all the grass behind. And if you had a mixture of Boars (meat), Nubian (milk) and Cashmere (yup cashmere) they not only work for the good of the property, but provide food and revenue. And, do your research they are a money maker too. It's easy to get paid to take your herd to other locations where they pay you for clearing land. Because they only eat those things that folks don't want and leave the grazing land. Power companies hire them all the time for right of ways clearing. Oh, and no seed passes through their digestive tract. Since you get cold winters, the early summer will see you with a lot of cashmere wool. Just a thought...God Bless

My city use goats to upkeep the fire breaks, we have steep hills between house and the goats love it you can use battery electric wire fence or that orange roll up fence to keep goats pin. have some water too.
@doctorfloc

@@akdisney I was never a "goat lover" before I actually learned about them. Once I did learn about them I love them. They aren't grazers..they eat selectively. They don't really mess with the grass but go after small trees, brush and invasive weeds. They don't interfere with cattle. In fact they help them by creating more grazing land. And haha yeah, they do like to climb...

Don't under estimate "GOOGLE MAPS SATELLITE " view. I use it all the time for estimate for my lawn care business and when out hiking. I personally think it is the best out there !! I have found a lot of small ponds on public land to fish from also. Give it a look for your property.

Great water pressure! Your Wells doing s good job. That view was insane. Shame you couldn't put your house there. How many acres do you have? You need to drive it to the Maple Grove to thin it out. So some trees will get big. I've never been to Idaho. It's beautiful in your area

Very nice view. I understand the two lifetime comments, we have 42 acres of wooded property that i am trying to clean up and turn it into a tree farm. I've walked it many times and still find areas that I have seen. One thing about wooded land. it forever changing. Every storm or good day does something to the trees. The way to eat an elephant is 1 bite at a time. Take a copy of the property map and break it down to equal sized sections with each section that years goal to be worked on in the pattern that works with the goals so for example working along the edge of the property to clean up then fence that section leaving the middle of the land for last. No one is saying you need to fence the full land in a year. It will be easy to find some ground contact wood preserver you can dip the maple posts in near the house then when you have enough ready say 100 spend a weekend setting posts. Then when you have enough weekends of post setting you have a wire pulling weekend to finish off that section. Is your land part of the continental ice sheet glacier till? Saw that there is a chance to find meteors in them but you are more likely to find scrap from the loggers.

What a view! I love the upper portion of the property. I could hike up there and spend hours thinking to myself. Is the well over performing still? I was not sure because of the pressure numbers generated. What a fantastic water source you found. Will it take long to complete the utility room? I went back to the check list video to try and figure out for myself what is left to be done. I know the list has probably had additional items added to it by now. I am hopeful the items being added will become less labor intensive as you near completion. Sorry to hear you have not felt your best the last few days. Hopefully today will be different for you. Surprise, Cedar! Hope you are happy. :)

That is a good view form the top of your mountain. Its a lot further up there than I thought and nearly 90 lbs of water pressure I bet that hurts to get shot with. Its almost as good as the car wash pressure I dont know maybe it is? Would that damage your eye if someone sprayed you in the face with it? I bet it might. wow

Just leave enough trees to tap in the spring in an acre or so on the backside.. You can also plant Doug Fir here and there on your property, too. Check your state forestry commission and they have nurseries. I hate pine trees, so I bought trees from Missouri. Paw-paw, Black walnut, and persimmon. 25 each and I had about $60 in 75 trees INCLUDING SHIPPING. Here in Alabama, they will practically GIVE you yellow pine trees.. Ohiodnr.gov.

I like the property path, would do it all the way around. I'm sure you are wanting to have a trail system and that will really invite more things to be done that might go other wise unnoticed. GOATS, GOATS, GOATS, for clearing and a few pigs for root management ha ha ha. I know it has been said and I'm sure it's on your mind and been stated but a DRONE would be beneficial in visual aid for projects and safety of property. I know the tasks seem many and great but I like the approach you have of always keeping your mind working on them. ENJOY Heath

You'll be surprise how much you can do when you're motivated. I also was overwhelmed the first year regarding my land usages. The majority of my property was covered in trees, brushes and freaking big rocks. Though it isn't as steep as yours, 1/3 is like a swap. But after the first five years of clearing and enriching it, we had enough land for a some what self sustaining farm. Since then we would be able to clear and improve a couple acres each year. So each year our farm would grow, and along with it the money that enable us to clear the land without breaking our backs.
