It’s called a check valve. Great Video my friend!

Looking good man! Definitely keep that glass sump. Waterbox makes some sick sumps. I’d put the skimmer in the back, macro’s in the front, and keep the sock holes on standby for maintenance.

I totally agree with your buddy that system is so silent and looks very efficient,also if yo think about it the algae in your refugium extracts all the nutrients from the water so having the socks catch all the heavy stuff maybe a better way and will keep the refugium clean. It's a great looking tank and sump.

Nice video! I just set my Waterbox frag up and I can't get it to run properly with the black baffle for the refugium I'm kind of lost!

Hi, where did you get that union from 32 mm to 1 inch? And what kind of tubing is that? Thanks
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef Год назад
You can buy metric to imperial conversion unions. The tubing is 3/4” silicone

Where do you get your silicone tubing? I tried to order some from Amazon and they were very soft - almost collapsed onto itself. Perhaps these is a special type you’d need to look for? Thanks in advance.

Great tip on the plumbing. As for the return pump ; I got kinda lost which parts you bought to connect your return pump, could you maybe link what you have purchased?

I used a 32mm to 1” Union www.aquariumdepot.ca/metric-to-standard-adapter-union-coupling-32mm-to-1.html then a 1”to3/4” reducer www.aquariumdepot.ca/pvc-reducer-bushing-schedule-80-grey-spigot-x-socket-1-inch-to-3-4-inch.html and a 3/4” barb www.aquariumdepot.ca/lifegard-aquatics-insert-slip-barb-fitting-3-4.html

Check valve. I think one way valve is also a different name for it. 🙂 Congrats on getting it wet!

Looking good, I set up my 130.4 around the same time you filmed the video. In order to fit my Clarisea, I had to remove the 2 smaller glass panels holding the filter socks, as well as relocate and reseal the bigger glass panel dividing the 2 main compartments. It was painful, so just be aware of that if you ever do decide to change that section into a fuge. I had to give in and eventually just took a hammer to the 2 smaller glass panels. Also, do you plan on using some plastic hose clamps on your tubing?
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 2 года назад
Yeah I though about that, cut I think it may actually be easier to just get a 40 gallon breeder, which fits perfectly underneath the cabinet and creat my own baffles. They actually sell pre made kits to convert a 40 gallon breeder into a sump. I typically zip tie the tubing around the barb, but only when I am making final connections. Thanks for watching!

Very nice tank! Why did you switch from Red Sea brand?
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 2 года назад
Hi András - I was going to go with a the new Redsea S tanks but I realized that they would not fit going down the stairs to my basement. I went with the waterbox 180.5 as it was the largest tank that I can get that would make the journey.

Would appreciate ur thoughts on where in filtration circuit is it best to do skimming. I think skimming earlier is best, because amino acids are larger molecule and removed from system BEFORE they begin breakdown to nitrate> nitrite> ammonia. Skimming in wastewater treatment plants is called "flotation flocculation" and system design approach they use. Tks!
@cornellrosiu8818
@cornellrosiu8818 2 года назад
Sorry, i should have written ammonia > nitrite > nitrate. Skimming sooner the better.
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 2 года назад
Interesting question. It depends on what you want your primary filter to be. For this builds I would like the fuge to do the bulk of nutrient export, so make senses to have it first followed by an under sized skimmer. You alternatively do a large skimmer first after the mechanical filters. So depends on the method you plan to run
@cornellrosiu8818

Thanks for your reply. My idea is to more effectively eliminate N early on before it embarks on oxidation cycle by aerobes. Yes, filtration can be done using different strategies. My hypothesis is get N out early as larger amino acid complex. I currently do not have a system to test the hypothesis but this approach used by some or maybe all (?) municipal WWTPs.

@@cornellrosiu8818 I actually like to keep some N and P in the water column for my sps. So I don’t strive for overly efficient filteration
