25:00 - One of the rings is the Ring of Mind Shielding. It prevents most divination magic and can hold your soul if you die (both quite nice benefits for a crime lord). The ring can be turned invisible - him having two rings is therefore correct.

I was thinking "How's he going to fit an unboxing of a case into 36 minutes with a group count, commentary and final summation?". No cutting open boxes and rifling with plastic and bubble envelopes and moving minis in and out waiting for auto-focus to kick-in - that's how! Very well done! Excellent views of the miniatures and a read description straight out of the manual. I like the added bits about possible ways to use them in your campaign.

Fantastic review and most helpful. Wife and I have gone the route of buying the Mad Mage board game to get miniatures for our Dragon Heist campaign (its also a great bonus stand alone board game in its own right) but your review of a case really has me thinking it might be nice to pay out for a full case as well. Thank you for a really great review.

Yeah, a good alternative is (the route we`ve taken so far) to buy the Mad Mage boardgame for the 40+ minis and all the tiles,, which are always useful, and flesh out the rest of the minis you might need by buying cheap the Mage Knight lots on eBay. But having said that there`s nothing quite like having the actual WotC ones instead of proxies.

Thank you and good point about the board games! We've been meaning to check them out but haven't had a chance. Good to hear that the games are good in their own right! as far as the minis included, we had read that sometimes the minis in the board games are not the same scale as the Icons of the Realms ones. i think Storm King's Thunder in particular the giants were smaller. But if most of them the minis are actually the same scale, that is indeed a good alternative to get the sculpts. -Grady

Thanks for posting this. As I gather my gaming miniatures, videos like this help me out quite a bit in deciding whether to bother with booster boxes or just nab the individual models I really want from Ebay or other sites. The Annis Hag from this batch was one of my recent individual buys. All in all, this looks like a pretty decent set for random picks even. Cheers.

Nice work, really professional review with the way you use the rotating platform and have a crisp, focuses shot of the minis, AND you display their number too! I wish this was the norm for minis unboxing, not showing them in front of a webcam like most do. Bravo! :) One thing I would add to spice up things, when you speak of the creatures, you could not just recite the 5E descriptions, but also mention their history. I mean, you seem as old as I am, so you must have been around since 2E :) For example when talking about Darklings you could mention this is the new name for the Dark Creeper, plus their ecology and history, stuff like that. Overall I think you have the best miniature review on youtube from the many I checked so far, keep up the good work!

How exciting! A brick is a good bundle to start with. You get a decent chunk of the Commons and Uncommons and not much duplication so it's fun to go through and a pretty good sample of everything in the set as long as you don't have your heart set on a specific rare. Happy unboxing!

@@TheGallantGoblin I didn't get the mini I wanted. But I got a couple rares one which is the elephant. Also got my first broken mini. SPY with a missing left arm. So hes missing his weapons hand. Bad news out of the 10boxes I have opened I pulled 3 floating doors! Haha

The elephant's really cool! It's one of our favorite ones. Double-check the box-usually if a piece broke off it's still rattling around inside somewhere. We usually use Loctite Super Glue Gel (or Ultragel) Control, which is available at crafts stores and the like, to glue plastic minis back together. You need to be able to hold the two pieces in place though. It can take up to 10 minutes for the glue to take hold so find something to hold them, don't use your hands. Jarlaxle singles are available online for around $28-$32 but I can understand if you're hesitant to spend that much on one mini. -Grady

I'm sorry to hear that! As you saw in the video, we had some difficulty getting a proper "case" as well. If the distributor or vendor ever unpacks one of the boxes and mixes up the bricks, you're very likely to not get a proper case as intended. We had to reorder our case from our local game store because of this issue. You may want to talk to the manager at the place where you bought your case and see if they can do anything to rectify the situation. Make sure to get an unopened box like the one we showed in our video. My understanding is that you should get one of each rare in a proper unopened case. Good luck!

Oh, also, since there's a lot of Dragon Heist minis in the market right now, it may be a good time to grab any rares you were missing/wanting from the aftermarket while the prices are relatively low.

Is the plastic on the brick soft or hard? Cause most times factory manufactured shrink wrap is soft and the other stuff you get is harder. And sometimes people reshrink wrap stuff with the after market stuff.

It's soft--it's akin to the plastic wrap on CDs (am I dating myself?) but not so soft like you might find on vegetables or something. So with COVID and tariffs and everything else, it's unclear where prices will ultimately land, but it used to be pretty standard to be able to get a case for $400 USD or slightly less. The prices also fluctuate as a print run sells out, going up as stock disappears before dropping again when WizKids reprints. Every single Icons of the Realms set is currently being reprinted except for Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica, so hopefully prices will come back down a bit. You almost never pay MSRP for these products. -Grady

So certainly if it's against the law in your jurisdiction, that's not what they're going to do. But the US has very little consumer protection, relatively speaking, and I also suspect the wording is mainly to cover themselves if, for example, you requested a replacement booster box since the contents of the booster boxes are random. Speaking from our own experience, WizKids has always replaced exactly what we asked for when we had a specific defective mini, though we've only had two experiences that I recall: 1) headless Volo and 2) a missing cardboard deck of the Falling Star ship. -Grady

The mini are not very detailed, they look blocky and the painting is quite bad. To compare them to Games Workshop mini's for 40k artwork mini are of much higher quality and you are left to paint them yourself is not that hard.. I personally do not use mini and instead use table top software for all sessions. If they ever do come out with a decent mini I will buy it.. but so far the Wiz kids brand mini leaves much to be desired.
