I first heard this song as a teenager. I'm 50 years old. Still love it!

Haven't heard this song in 30 years. Woke up from a dream, and immediately searched for this song. Don't know why, but I'm glad I did.

When I was a radio DJ, this was the song I used to close out my show and sign off. Boy oh boy, do I miss those days...

I saw them (Waterfront) in 1989 as opening act on Donny Osmond's "Soldier of Love" tour, had their album, still enjoy the song all these years later. Doesn't seem like it's been that long ago!🎶💜

I remember this really fat classmate of mine in college dancing out in the hallway while this song played on a boombox as we were waiting for our next class professor. He had quite the moves for a big guy and I've always remembered this song because of him. Even today, this song never fails to get me to bust out the same dance moves he did back then whenever I hear it playing.

It’s so weird how this song touched so many people. I never forgot it. Something so beautifully melancholic about it.

Superb song. Yes, we all know that more than sounding like George Michael, they sounded like Wham! Just goes to show that Wham! disbanded too much early. Yes, George Michael went on to do good things after Wham!, especially in his two albums following Wham!. But he never recaptured that magical innocence of his early days. And all that negative talk about Andrew Ridgeley doing nothing was just that: Negative talk. The world needs more of these beautiful pop songs. Especially today.

On this day in 1989 {July 15th} Waterfront performed "Cry" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Cry" was at position #50 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, four weeks earlier it had peaked at #10 {for 2 weeks} and it spent seventeen weeks on the Top 100... It reached #2 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Simply Red... And on the same 'Bandstand' show the Welsh duo also performed "Nature of Love", two weeks later it entered the Top 100 at #95, and on August 13th, 1989 it peaked at #70 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the Top 100 for five weeks... The above two records were their only entries on the Hot Top 100 chart...

I remember this I was 14

I loved this song back in 1989, when I was 15/16. Can't believe I never realized how fucked up and predatory this song was at the time. "I know you're just sixteen, but looking all of 21 (You'll be married, with a gun) Daddy would go to jail for you, If he thought you were having the wrong sort of fun" and "The moment that you've gone, You know that they will talk, But they're wrong, and it makes me happy", and he has to keep begging her not to cry throughout the song. Yikes.

I was 17 when this came out, but my 47 year old Mom was totally crushing on the lead singer!
