I know nothing of the OSTs to the video-game adaptations to _Waterworld_ , but after hearing this YM2612-style remix/cover of yours, I surely wish that I did. My only remotely-negative critique is that I wish this remix/cover of yours could have been a little longer. Beyond that, I love this, and I'm adding it to my Favorites. Keep up the good work!
It does have 6. The YM2612 has the ability to split channel 3 into each individual FM operator. You can use channel 3 to increase the polyphony at the cost of sound complexity, or even use it to make a single sound even more complex. I usually choose to split it into a 2op-2op configuration like here, but occasionally I'll split it into 2op-1op-1op or some other such thing.
@@ChiptunedRaijin I never knew a single Mega Drive game could do this. I only knew about street fighter 2, makind dual PCM if I'm not wrong... Thanks for the info...
@@RetroGames4K A few games do use this special channel 3 mode. Yuzo Koshiro used it for sound effects in Streets of Rage games. Hitoshi Sakimoto used it for music in a few tracks for some games. It was used way more often in PC-88 and PC-98 games, since those Yamaha sound chips share the same ability to use channel 3 in this way.
In case you were not aware, the original track is from the SNES version of Waterworld, composed by one of the all time greats to compose for that particular console, Dean Evans.
