Thank a lot you explained so well. The PDF manual was useless.

Thanks, so I don't need limiter like L2 Waves, and using the limiter inside WLM

I bought it, not sure how to use it or if I need to use it and the other Audacity plug-in I got from your site to level my audio. Good video, hope to see a few more to help us out perhaps?

The included PDF manual has some quick instructions. Chris's Dynamic Compressor and other compressors are designed to minimize the range between loud and quiet areas. But WLM is about adjusting the whole of your audio to reach a particular loudness by raise or lowering the gain the same amount across the whole track.

great video but question - I can't find the 'apply' and would love to quickly analyze the levels!! Advice?

I think the Apply button doesn't show in Audacity. But I recommend you contact Waves for help.

Based on your informative video, I bought WLM Loudness Meter plugin for Audacity 2.3.3., the latest version available. Do you know if Waves has a 32-bit WLM for my 32-bit Audacity running on Windows 10? Thanks!

I don't understand why there are two values in each of the three displays -15 and -14.9 in the screen shot for example.
@theDanielJLewis

It's merely rounding.
@neilfaulks
@neilfaulks 5 лет назад
@@theDanielJLewis Thanks. But I don't understand why they don't just put the accurate value, and display it large. I have never seen a real piece of test equipment do this.

For my podcasts I have been aiming for -14 lufs . I have been using the WLM plus meter, my question is how significant are a few 'overs' if the meter still gives a average longterm of -14? Will this affect how Spotify compresses the track
@TheAudacitytoPodcast
@TheAudacitytoPodcast 4 года назад
That's where the loudness range (or "LRA") matters. Ideally, that should be 4-8 LU for spoken-word content. The measurement tools are looking at a calculated average of the whole. Momentary louder or quieter spots are fine. Also ensure your audio doesn't go over -1.5 dB true peak.
@ciantisdall
@ciantisdall 4 года назад
@@TheAudacitytoPodcast The 'LRA' is the third box on the right? IF one is aim for -16 lufs for Spotify , it would be natural then to have quite a few overs.
@TheAudacitytoPodcast
@TheAudacitytoPodcast 3 года назад
@@ciantisdall Right. -16 LUFS is the long-term integrated loudness, it's not a constant value. So you might have momentary louder or quieter spots, and that's okay. And the loudness range will help you ensure that your quiet spots can still be heard and your loud spots aren't too loud by keeping a lower loudness range (4-8 LU).

On Logic X I don't have the option to run audio through more quickly. Anyone else have this problem? Or is it because I have an old version?
@TheAudacitytoPodcast
@TheAudacitytoPodcast 3 года назад
I wish I could help you there, but I haven't used Logic X. So you'll probably be better served by talking to Waves for support.

Does this not work with Audacity anymore? I even got the 2.4.1 version
@TheAudacitytoPodcast

It should still mostly with the caveats I demonstrated. But you'll need to contact Waves for technical support.

@@TheAudacitytoPodcast the tech said version 11 doesn't work, blah blah blah. I was thinking about switching to Reaper anyway.
