Please try to finish your adventure by bike as much as possible. So people don't see you making a short cut. Besides that you're really doing amazing reconciliation. May Allah protect you. Greetings from Somalilander in California USA
@Faysal: thanks & welcome to Moyale. @PS: that tough hill you climbed on your way to Moyale (Kenya), is called "hoolalee" or "tarbee hoolalee" [= hoolalee hill or hoolalee-steep; where "tarbee" (Borana) = a hill or a raised ground]. In a sense, 'tarbee hoolalee' marks the start of the Ethiopian highlands. However, the climb to the highlands is a very gradual one till you reach a Guji-Oromo town/district called "Bule-Hora" (old Amharic name: Hagere-Mariam), some 300 Kms north from Moyale. The Borana districts through which you will be riding are generally flat though there is a gradual increase in altitude as you approach "Yaballo" (200kms north of Moyale) & Bule-Hora towns. But, eventually, the highlands give-way to the rift-valley lowlands past Hawassa & Shashamene towns, some 500kms north of Moyale. Right now, the rift valley is to your left till you reach Hawassa & Shashamane towns which are in the rift valley. At that point, you can clearly appreciate how the Ethiopian Highlands are divided by the rift into two parts: a) The Western Highlands (about 60% of the highlands). All the rain which falls on this section of the highlands flow/drain towards the Nile River, Sudan & Egypt. & b) The Eastern Highlands which gradually slop-down towards Ogaden/Somali region, Somaliland, Djibouti & the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden. All the rain which falls on Eastern Highlands drain/flow towards the Indian Ocean via the Wabe-Shaballe & Gannaale/Juba river which also flow through Southern Somalia to reach the Indian Ocean. @Of course, Ethiopia is a much-less developed country than Kenya & people are very poor due to years of misrule plus due to its never-ending wars which are a huge economic drain/burden on this already very poor country. You might see lots of poor people & beggars on the streets. Still, most people are decent, god-fearing (very religious) & are helpful. All the best & safe trip.
@@FaysalShaik1 - you are most welcome! @PS: knowing some basic words for greeting in Borana/Oromo & Amharic languages would help you interact better with the locals in many parts of southern Ethiopia. As you have realised, Ethiopians' command/mastery of the English language is very poor due to a mixture of factors (lack of exposure to English/colonialism; very poor system of education, etc). | @So: a useful & informal Amharic word for greetings ("hi") is "selam" = peace = greetings = hi. @"Selam" - a word related to the Arabic "asalama-aleykum & the Hebrew/Jewish "shalom" - is an Arabic loan word which has now become just another word in Amharic, Tigre+Eritrean & many other Ethiopian languages. Just say "selam" & wave! In Oromo/Afaan Oromoo/Afaan Booranaa, say: "akkami?" [=how are you? = greetings]. To sound a bit more elaborate, say: "akkami? nagaa? fayyaa? [=how are you (akkami?), are you in peace (nagaa?) are you well (fayyaa)?]. I am sure that you will find lots of people to teach you these things along the way. Good Luck & nagaatti/nabad.
