I'm a 75 year old Vietnam war veteran and I can't listen to any other artist that is able to bring out strong emotions like this guy does. All I can say is it's a darn shame he left us too soon but will live forever through his music.
I wrote that song from mindset of a father writing home to his son from war and wrote it for a veteran friend of mine. Waylon is a big inspiration of doing what someone has to do. Really feel. God bless.
Waylon you were @ still are my favourite singer and guitarist also entertainer who is absolutely stoned singing this particular song, but the more you have it in your system, you never let us down, your fantastic sexy voice @ good looks never let the ladies down. I am so very glad you had Jessie Coulter behind you as Waylon she was your wife @ lover also your rock..Godbless Jessie for all she done for you Waylon. RIP my dearest, blessed Waylon Jennings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ELIZABETH SCOTLAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was young and hungry. Most of the country had not heard of him at this time. We saw him in Raleigh in 74. Headliner was Kristofferson. They mispelled Waylon's name on the ticket. Dispute the arena being only 25% full, he gave the best concert I have ever seen, no concerns of the low crowd.
Great version of this track. Even fried out of his mind he could still bring it. It's not up for debate Waylon has one of the top three pure voices of all time. To be honest he did most of Willies songs better. Really he did everbodies songs better cause his voice was better
This is how i will always remember Waylon at his peak, When I get all wraped up in some Waylon music i dont even remember he isnt here with us no more. WAYLON RULES !
I like to just let Waylon’s voice and music sink into my brain and my bones and become a part of me. It feels very good! His music is the best. I love you Waylon and your better half Jessi. Thank you for everything!
I love Waylon and miss him. He sings this song so heartfelt. When I was going through my divorce this really hit home. Nobody has a voice like Waylon. I saw him at the Santa Barbara County Bowl and we had a conversation, he's so awesome..
Kathie Richardson yes it is true , i m lestening to IT SNOT SUPOSED TO BE THAT WAY , this song is kelling me i sing it all time , but my voice is almost like waylon voice
its amazing how some fans consider singers has some kind of gunfighters' when in fact as already been said, they are all brothers in music, just all doin it their own way.
Who really cares who sang what better then who! A great song sung by a great artist..."it don't matter anyway"....it's how ya FEEL it brothers and sisters. Not who does it better.
This the best that Waylon sang this song. He put his heart and soul and all his feelings into this song. You can tell by his face and his voice. He is simply the best, and we`ll will really always miss him and his music. I`m glad this was posted, I play all the time.thank you for posting.
Wow thanks..one of my faworit songs,,from my favorit. Greate to see all those videoes,,never saw them before. I have a DVD from 1978 Renegade Outlaw Legend. This should also be on DVD
Great clip! Waylon was the best musical artist in the world from about 1972 through 1976 or so (IMO). His "Waylon Live" album may be the best live album ever. I cried the day I heard that he died. He represented (in a way) a particular time in my life, and it was hard to believe so much time had passed and he was gone. I've heard him say that this was his favorite Willie song.
God, Waylon could sing. From the 1960s-up until 1979ish he was at his prime. The cocaine started getting to him around then. While I still enjoy his later work, the damage had been done. That being said, the Hoss is Boss. Whoop whoop!
absolutely beautiful song by Waylon. Is the young person on his right, is that his son Terry playing in his band, does anyone know. please answer if you know. what yr. was this clip. i like this version done live as he put a lot of soul in this song.
LOL...pretty sure he was. He had quite the cocaine habit back in the day. It made me love him all the more at how honest he always was. That honesty carried over to his music. I adore everything about that man. We lost him way too soon.
Point taken, but I still think Waylon had a wider vocal range. As for the charisma factor, it came thru no matter the time frame, and the look you mention sure caught (and held) the attention of women - from young girls right up to older women. But it's a matter of personal taste - and my choice was and still is Waylon hands down.
Ck out th' Waylon live 2 disc set extended version. Waylon can sang th' Phone Book & make it sound good. Classic Album4,... Ol' Waylon. This Time,I"m a Ramblin' Man, Lonesome,Onery & Mean, Waylon Live,Are you ready for the Country, Dreaming My Dreams(my fav on this one is "the door is always open) . Ck 'em out..
@fishslicer3 Agreed, Waylon has the best country voice of all time. George Jones is second. Rolling Stone's list of best voices included Willie's but not Waylon's. Unfortunately pop culture only knows WJ as the guy that narrated and and sang the theme for the Dukes of Hazzard.
Well, Jones can't hit the low notes like Waylon and Hag can't hit the high... IMHO Waylon was a better singer than both of them put together, plus he had that rare mega charisma that made everything he did a little sweeter.
