Sorry Alan the version of James Brown is faster in the beginning, there is clearly a difference, a longer break by Waylon between Man's and World. In addition, the Orchestra gives a great performance, which makes me find the version of Waylon better. That's how I feel about it.

Røde is alright fellas. So you bought a directional mic? Stereo? As for the hum, it is probably a ground loop, you may be able to resolve it using an isolator in the audio line.
