Keeping the heat inside the turbine housing is beneficial in more than one way. The two most important being, it reduces the under hood temperatures since the heavy cast iron housing is not radiating its heat out, and two, heat is what drives the turbine and creates better turbo response and drivability. There are no negative factors to using this blanket.
@@taylorsrus9543 Perhaps I'm not asking right. In my mind, it seems your turbine would be hotter since you are preventing air from flowing around the outside and cooling it. In theory, that heat would transfer to the center rotating assembly, and into the compressor, causing the entire turbo to be warmer. I had many college classes in thermal dynamics, so it makes me think about heat loss/heat gain and how it affects normal operation. Maybe I am just over thinking things!o
@@markvolker1145 yeah, overthinking it. Your theory is sound, but real life works differently. It's not as extreme as you make it. If you spend time with bigger turbos then you learn quick, they are slugs until you get some heat into it.
Mark Volker the more heat you retain within your turbo the more likely you are to burn the oil out when I turn the engine off. That was my train of thought when watching & after watching the video. But these guys know what they’re doing. If they say it won’t hurt your turbo, you can take that to the bank.
