We Are FINALLY Getting a NEW Steam Controller and It's Made by Hori! 

Speculation is this was made for the Japanese market because they don't have a good controller for PC. Xbox has little presence in Japan, so the controllers are apparently not easy to find. DualSense while easily available is not the best controller for PC. There is a chance this may never make it over to the US. Hori most likely made a few modifications to an existing controller (notice lack of trackpads) and reached out to Valve for approval and some help with it as there are pics showing that it shows up in Steam Input apparently when plugged into a pc with Steam. Unfortunately, I don't think Valve will make or approve anything for the US (with trackpads) until they either release Steam OS for the desktop or bring out a desktop version of the Steamdeck. They will want both available at the same time to market any respective releases better, I suspect. I've been waiting so long for a Steam Controller 2 I will import one if I can anyway even it is a bit gimped without the trackpads. It is almost there. Edit: These are listed on Play-Asia currently with no way to buy them.

Curious that these would be Japan only. I mean, I'm pretty sure Hori is a Japanese company, but I remember hearing that PC gaming is a rather small scene in Japan. Maybe that's changing now that Steam Decks exist and are being sold there? Anyway, this controller does look neat, I'm kinda interested in it. The touch thumbsticks are a neat addition, generally they're set to enable gyro when your thumb is on the stick, and disable when you're off. It's like gyro aiming with a Switch controller but better. Of course, you can also just configure it to do whatever you want as well.

I would use the original steam controller but its so hard to get working on the deck its just not worth it. Ds4 connects right away and everything works, track pads, gyro and all.

I just went with the DualSense Edge. It's the best controller in terms of functions.

No trackpad = no buy. I want the steam deck's controls on a fullsize gamepad. I can already buy an 8bitdo ultimate if I want a conventional layout.

i'm really not a fan of the design. and they really didn't include a touchpad in the middle like a ps5 controler ? damn valve.

No hall effect, no rummble. Maybe, no buy? Edit: I'd pay an extra $20 for those two features.
