I remember when you adopted her and I loved the idea of adopting senior dogs and giving them the best final years of their lives. The other side is the heartbreak of losing them but please don't ever stop, the joy you give outweighs the grief! Sending you love Lee, you are an amazing human!

One of my favorite posts of yours ever was when you took Pompom home! You gave her a dream run for her golden years, Lee. It's been an honor to watch her being such a hap-py, hap-py dog. Thank you.💜

That she is 21 says a lot for how well you care for them. The way your face lights up when you talk about her shows the love you have for her.

My dear corgi, Pumpkin looked at me one morning and her face told me- it's time, I'm ready. I bundled her up and took her to our vet, and held her until she passed. I stayed calm, smiled, told her how loved she was and thanked her for ..her. After I left, THEN I lost it. It's such a wrench, letting them go. Love and prayers to you Lee, and your dear pup. 🙏

We put our little 19 year old dog to sleep. You are absolutely right, she told us when she was ready to cross over to Rainbow Bridge. It is never easy to make this decision, but we all have to do it for the kindness for our babies. I will keep you and Pom Poms in our prayers.

PomPoms!! You made her so happy, I will never forget the day you got her!!! Sundowners is hard, so anxious, my dog Mr Maha who was 20 had that at the end of his life, they tell you. I would get up around 3am with him, because he would be anxious and we would go watch the sunrise somewhere beautiful the last week of his life...He passed peacefully Jan 16 2022... Dear PomPom’s best friend Lee-Aside from ALL you do for these precious animals, I just want to take a moment and say that YOU are SO kind when you talk to us too. You take the time to not only let us know what is happening but to prepare us as well. I pray that sharing the hard stuff with us is cathartic for you in YOUR journey Lee. I feel that crying is a true release and ( for me personally ) the best outlet when I have sadness. We are all here for you and we all know there’s nothing we can do to ease your pain except support you and send you love. This part flat sucks-there’s no sugar coating it. I agree 100% with all the others who have commented here that the very best this precious baby can have is you in her life-especially right now…there is no better medicine than you Lee. Let your tears flow when they come as the deeper our love the deeper our pain. God bless you for all that you do Lee. My heart goes out to you and all the staff at the sanctuary. You are all Angels here on Earth. As for precious PomPom, my lord! I have never known a dog that has lived this long. That is just incredible to me! I ask God to hold PomPoms, you and all the staff in the palm of his hand and do anything he can to love, help, hold tight and reassure you all that he sees you, holds you and knows that you’ve done the very best you can with all of your heart and souls for this precious little angel. 🙏❤️🐾

I had to say goodbye to my 18 year old cat last month. It is very hard, but take a some time to ensure they know you love them and then let them go. The Vet told me I had made the correct decision, so that was a relief as well. Blessings to all creatures, big and small, as they say goodbye to us. Blessings Pom Pom. You are a tiny angel and soon you will be a for real angel.

WOW... 21 YEARS! 😃 That special bond is the absolute reason #pompoms has lived this long! 🤗 You have given her THE BEST love and care. The only thing, "wrong", with #furbabies is, they don't live long enough! 😔 I lost my #troubleboy #meower Hunter on 12/30, and I'm still reeling from it. You're right, she'll let you know when she's ready, and even though you never will be, we know you'll do what's best for that beautiful girl. #hugs

Definitely made me sad because I remember when you brought Pom Pom into the pack and always looked forward to her videos. You’ll know when it’s time as I did on Dec 5th I had to put my little Tucker of 13 wonderful years down from heart failure. One of the hardest things I ever done. My heart still aches from losing my best friend. Prayers and hugs to you all.

I don't think we can ever completely prepare for the loss of a pet but knowing ahead of time helps. Pom Pom has had a wonderful life with you Lee and she is loved by so many of us. For me, there has been no greater heartbreak than losing a beloved pet. For those of us who love our pets deeply, we love enough to adopt them or take them in knowing there is the chance that we will have to know the unbelievable pain of goodbye. We do it anyway, time and time again. I don't plan to ever stop. And I thank all of you from the very bottom of my heart for doing so to save these beautiful souls.

You always call each dog your favourite, but I can’t help feeling you have an extra soft spot for PomPoms, so I really feel your pain. Even if she is not always aware of her surroundings, I am sure she is aware of your love and the comfort you give her and that is what matters the most. She couldn’t be in a better place for her last days.

It’s tough and I’m sorry to hear this. You gave Pom Pom a great home and many more years than anyone would have expected. It’ll be sad to see her go but glad we all got to “meet” her and see her thrive.

You never can prepare yourself. I lost my beloved pitbull, Zeus on May28th, 2022.I had him for 18 yrs .I still think about him almost daily.. I have rescued dogs my whole life (I'm 71 now) and I learned the hard way that that is the concession you make to save the life of animals in need, giving them homes filled with love, companionship. and letting them know you will always be there for them and that THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR LIFE..each and every day.

Thank you for sharing, Lee. I would love to meet some of the people of your staff! We never get to see them, but I know how hard they work to keep all the animals safe, happy and healthy.

Awe Pompoms! She has been such an amazing gatekeeper for the Asher house. We lost our darling girl at the end of October - she was so ready but we were heartbroken, we gave her the last loving gift we could - so hard but we know she’s at peace (or probably causing mischief over the bridge!). We had our male Pomeranian for 16 years. No idea how old he actually was. He was a rescue from a breeder who couldn't keep the dogs they had any longer. He was the sweetest little guy and he was my best buddy. He developed Canine Kidney dysfunction. He also had a heart murmur. He started to go blind and also we noticed he was having neurological issues. He'd lose his balance and fall over and not be able to get back up on his own. One morning he had a seizure and coming to, it was obvious he'd had a serious stroke. He was having trouble breathing too. We knew his quality of live was no longer there. We agreed that to assist him to a better place was what we had to do. Pompoms looks so much like our boy Rusty. I know you will know what to do for PomPoms when she tells you it's time to cross over. Prayers for comfort and reassurance you're doing what's best for her. 😢💔🥺

I immediately felt a deep connection with Pom Poms. The kind of connection that will remain forever in my heart. This video has made me very sad, and that's okay. It's important to feel what we need to at any given time. Pom Poms has such a beautiful soul - it just has always felt like she would be with us forever (like Betty White). And of course, Pom Poms will be with us always, it will just be in a different way. I do wish I could gently hold her. Oh my goodness, just the thought of such a honour brings tears to my eyes.
