A pastor counseled my husband and I. He said when you deal with conflict, always lead from a place of love. If you cannot then be silent until you can. It changed my entire perspective. I no longer feel the need to win the argument nor does he have to accept and validate what I share. my husband is still struggling with this concept however his inability to chnage does not disturb my peace. Only God can chnage him and its in his time, not mine. 🙌🏾👋🏾

I'm a mix of avoider, accommodator and often defender - it's an ugly combination. Was necessitated from childhood trauma and later an emotionally abusive marriage. I'm learning to argue constructively thanks to God, my partner and healing. I'm not there yet, but each time is a little move in the right direction.

As a therapist, I help others daily with relationship conflict and often it all boils down to communication styles. These types of communicators can overlap. I've also learned that we communicate differently with different people. Usually we will give more grace to friends, co-workers and not our spouse/children. We breaking these chains of bondage and tearing down these strongholds. I'M GOING TO ARGUE BETTER. DISAGREE WELL
