Newman is a crucial part in the Toy Story franchise, I cannot imagine a Toy Story without this man.

My dad’s favorite song. Every friggin’ morning on the way to drop me off at school, him and i would sing that song. We Belong Together, forever and always. My father, Joseph Perez 1949-2013.

After being snubbed for his songs in the previous Toy Story movies lost to Disney studio mates, Randy finally wins an Oscar for a beautiful song written for my favorite movie trilogy of all time. Well deserved win for him that night and best of luck scoring Toy Story 4. PS I thought I See the Light from Tangled was good too.

Toy Story 3: We Belong Together is better song. 4 years ago, I wrote a letter to Randy Newman about that he should win an Oscar then something happen, he sent me a Toy Story 3 (Four-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) and Toy Story 2 soundtrack with his signature, it's say "Dear Jordan what a nice note you send me. I could be wrong, but you sound like a music to me. I also send the inferior Toy Story 2 soundtrack, good luck - Randy Newman". I got him to win, lucky me.

He was given 2 Oscars by 2 Jennifers who sing and act: 1st was Jennifer Lopez giving his Oscar for "Monsters Inc.", 2nd was Jennifer Hudson for "Toy Story 3." So I think in order to win, a singing/acting Jennifer must be the one presenting :P

We Belong Together from Disney and PIXAR Toy Story 3 is all about embracing change and moving on and what it really means to be with someone else in act of compassion, imagination, kindness and loyalty: whether you need to physically be with them to have a relationship.

This delightfully charming movie celebrates the importance of childhood memories and imagination.

The relationship between Woody and Buzz started off as pure adversaries and learned how to accept each other's strengths, forgive each other's failures and respect each other as individuals.

One of my favorite wins too, very deserved I mean, Randy's first Oscar after several nominations. All I know is that he went upstage and while being applauded he said "I don't want your pity". And a few minutes later, when the band started rushing off the stage, he told them to stop the music and said: "all these musicians, many of whom have worked for me a number of times and may not again".

This should have been his like 14th Oscar for this amazing, talented man

The entire film has been like a big family reunion, from getting the original cast back, including our own Andy, John Morris, to working with Randy Newman. It's completely heartening to have that much support and it helped us gain creative traction and momentum. We're all so passionate, both personally and professionally, about the Toy Story films, as is everyone at PIXAR. All of that positive energy was very encouraging and certainly helped the creative process, which is always intimidating and scary when you begin the journey.

The third installment becoming the first of the Toy Story films to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature can be seen as a great way of rounding things out as well. This makes it the only one of the trilogy to actually win an Academy Award. Also, Randy Newman won for Best Original Song, which could be seen as a way of making up for his loss from the original.

Lee Unkrich: One of the hallmarks of the Toy Story films is that we've had songs in them. It's part of the heritage and the fabric of the series. For Toy Story 3, we want the audience to leave the theater on an upbeat, happy note, so we asked Randy to write a new song to accompany the end credits. We Belong Together touches on several themes of the movie. It's about change and moving on and what it really means to be with someone: whether you need to physically be with them to have a connection. It was also important to me that Randy sing the song, since his singing voice is such an essential part of the Toy Story DNA. As always, Randy did an amazing job.

Randy Newman is good for making a song for Toy Story 3, but "I See the Light" from Tangled composed by Alan Menken and lyrics provided by Glenn Slater deserve this award, since Disney is starting to make the Classics a come back.

They always ignore great songs from female pop artists. In 2011 they ignored Janet Jackson's Nothing (from "Why Did I Get Married Too?"). In 2012 they ignored Madonna's Masterpiece (from "W.E."). In 2016 they ignored Jennifer Lopez's Feel the Light (from "Home").
