Love the Sandy Taupe troopies! Just don't get carried away with "needing" all the gear. From watching your videos you could get away with a light weight, basic, reliable touring build.

Great to see you in a new troopy. I got my second one about eighteen months ago. and i couldn't be happier with it. Its retro four wheeling with a modern motor and a bullet proof drive train. Heres hoping you will have many years of fun and adventures in it.

Nice work - I have the same rig. They are awesome, and the key is to load it up with just the stuff you need and not all the stuff people tell you that you need. Love your work!

How good guys! I’m in a similar boat. I went from a ‘84 Hj60 with a 2H to a ‘22 VDJ79 with portals and 300mm. With sound deadening and suspension work the 79 feels like a luxury SUV compared to the 60. I have no issue with the turning circle and there power on tap.

Can't wait to see the end result guys....especially after the team at Project Overlander get their hands on it. Steve and the team there are bloody amazing, from their unique ideas, quality of work and their after market service.

A brilliant car - capable, reliable and a great range between drinks. So looking forward to see what mods you have done.

Congrats. Nice car. But to be negative this whole Channel started out as a budget build touring kinda thing you got great success from it. Then the old landcruiser came along and that was fun, anddddd then the sponsors started getting on board. Now this vehicle. This channel has turned into yet ANOTHER massive budget look what we got for free build like all the rest of the 4x4 youtube channels. Keeping up with the Joneses it seems.

This is awesome. So great to meet you at the Sydney 4WD show and see both Troopies in person. I’m very much looking forward to watching your build. Your Elsie build got me onto your channel and all your work has been a massive influence for us to to buy our first 4WD (coming Nov 🙏🏼) and see Australia. First trip we’re planning is to KI, Flinders and the Red Centre this Dec/Jan with our 4 kiddos. Can’t wait!

Matt & Holly followed you guys for a while now & wondered when you were going to upgrade. I had a 47 tray back for a while & they are, as a mate said, just a fast tractor 😂 I know they are hard to come by, but I had hoped you would find a HDJ78 with the 1HD-FTE engine in it. I own a 76 and feel it is a bit of a lemon compared to the previous models. Good luck with your build look forward to seeing it evolve.

G'day Matt and Holly. We've been watching you since you originally crossed the country to pick up Elsie. Don't often make comments, but today I can't resist. Congratulations on your new troopy. So good to see both of you so obviously very happy. As with many others here, I'm excited to watch the build of this vehicle. In light of current events, maybe consider Liz as a name, after all, the Queen was known for being a fine driver during the war years. Plus, as you say, it's like a Rolls Royce in comparison. Fit for royalty maybe. Tongue firmly planted in cheek mates.

I always joked that the turning circle hasn't changed in 40 years.🤣 I'll had to come up and give your 40 troopy some love.

Good one. All the best. As for a name, it's a Sandy Taupe (almost a military desert colour), and it's a troop carrier (another military reference), so naming it "Sarge" is not all that out of place. 😁

Hi I'm always excited about Toyota land cruiser lc 70 &78 models but mainly the troopy version- but the steel rims I doesn't approve ' nor the air vent on the bonnet' how can I get one to buy with the same v 8 4.5 diesel engines as the lord 200 version without an air vent as the lc 200 models for the troopy version ' thanks again for your generous cooperation with respond..

I knew it, once Holly got in the fellow travelers car with a/c she's said I'm over torturing myself with Elsie. Welcome to the 70 series. That V8 just sounds so heavy duty. Music to the ears.

Old skool practicality, reliability and durability is what it's about imagine getting stuck in deep water crossing in a brand new 300 series to many electronics for something to go wrong... more new features, creature comforts and buttons equals more things to go wrong specially in 15 or 30 years time we'll see if they hold up like the 4wds that are 15 to 30 years old now.

Congrats on getting a Troopy. I hope you bring it to Radelaide so I can look closely at what you've done with it. At least the Troopy will be much more comfortable and you can now think about doing things such as Cape York and the Canning Stock Route. :)
