Hi, we are Harriet and Mauro and in February 2021 we bought an abandoned smallholding in Castellón, Spain. In these videos we share our life as we restore and improve our little stone house, learn to grow and preserve our own food, and bring our 4 acres of farmland back to productivity.

Just an idea, when my kids were tiny I pumped up an inflatable paddling pool in my building yard of a garden , I popped in toys and they played while I worked trying to finish my garden and build. Obviously without water...

Amazing work and the best part is - it's done, no more tiling and moving stuff around! We just put the same mosquito screen with magnets and it's working pretty good. Santi is adorable ❣️

I used those flyscreens, Harriet. We are surrounded by farm fieldds, and the bullocks in particular bring the flies. Now I am in my eighties, I am fearful of catching my feet in one, so I keep my doors shut!

Something for next year: loquats are really nice when they're dehydrated. They become an amazing snack to have around or you can chop them up and add them to a granola/trail mix.

I put up a magnetic screen door for my apartment in Guatemala. It's wonderful. It's very easy for my cat and me to go in and out. Since we have dengue in the area, it's very important to have mosquito protection. I'm sorry that you got one that was so complicated to put up. All I had to do was tack it around the door frame.

oh man, we have starlink for a year now (also working remote) and it was a struggle without it. Only problem is that with thunderstorms and harsh rains it sometimes bogs out. But it works like 99,99% of the time.

You might want to invest in a solar oven . They are inexpensive. This must have been pre-surgery because I don't see a scar. I hope that you are doing much better. You all are always in my prayers.

Do you want to give Harriet and Mauro a hand for free? Do you have 10 seconds or 21 seconds to spare? It's easy and free. For a 15 second ad, DON'T hit the skip button. for a longer ad, Watch it for 31 seconds before you hit the skip button. The income that Harriet makes on RU-vid is dependent on how many people watch the ad. Typically, that's only five people out of 100. I know ads are annoying,, but the value that she gives us in learning and entertaining Is surely worth 15 or 21 seconds of our time. You can use that time to look at something 20 ft away for 20 seconds to reduce eye strain. It's a win-win.

There is no need for one. In a quart jar, I put 1 cup of fruit, you can add sugar to taste and fill with boiing water. I water bath mine for 10 minutes. Remove from water bath pot. Let them cool for 24 hrs. Give them 4 to 6 weeks and enjoy. Lots of recipes out there.

Que envidia de níspero! Que preciosidad! Que ganas tengo de que los míos crezcan para que empiecen a producir jejeje. Me encantan las losas, son muy típicas aquí en España, son casi las mismas si no las mismas que tenemos nosotros en nuestra casa, sin duda son las mejores para las casas de campo. Debo avisaros que esas mosquiteras no son muy haya, se rompen con facilidad, sobre todo si tienes mascotas y empiezan a salirse los imanes, jajajaja seria mejor una doble puertita de madera con una mallita metálica, si podéis hacerla os lo recomiendo.
