one of my young homies asked if I could build him a quarter pipe out of pallets and I told him how hard it would be and to just save money for wood. this video helps me explain why
Yo, the first ever half pipe I saw in person was built just like this.... It was hidden in some woods connected to my neighborhood... I had to be 7/8 yrs old. You could tell it had been their for a good minute. I was so blown away from the fact of it being there and I never came across it. And the craziest thing I remember and I've told this story several times. The transition and flat was built with 2 x 4s..
We did this 20 years ago, we took over a "quick-save" car park, wich is was a super market in the uk, and turned it into a skate park using pallets, thanks for the blast to the past 👍
I built my whole mini ramp from pallets lol actually thought about doing a mock logo using the keen ramps but draw the logo as pallet wood for the ramp and DIY Ramps instead of keen ramps 😂
Just out of curiosity (cause yes, I’m gonna make one🤘), don’t”all use just a standard side piece template? I have some extra random diamond plate steel and polycarbonate from an old speaker box project that I can use. Just not sure what that curve looks like.
Pallets started it all off for me as a kid 😂 my aunty got.me a tool kit and she lifted a pallet out of the skip on the way home one day, the builders had to cut it up to fit the car lol built a work bench in my childhood homes coal shed it still says will erected these selves 2001 😂😂 but anyway made me realise from a young age I loved working with my hands and now am a coach builder by trade
I bet if you doubled it and put more underneath perpendicular to the ones on the surface it would be strong enough. I want to try this but don’t have space to keep it 😢
Is there anything risky about treated pallet wood that we should be aware of? I feel like maybe the sawdust could be more hazardous that your standard store bought plywood.
flip the ramp over. take some beer cans and stomp them flat then use them to fasten the surface boards together right down the middle fasten bottom two 3 to 4 etc.. i bet it wont flex nearly as bad
There's a mini ramp near me built like this, the whole thing is made with 1x decking material with skatelite on top. Thing's built like a brick shithouse, fun ramp.
