Hey Narc, Long time viewer here. I think this was a much needed return to form. It was factual, critical, and somewhat opinionated. The main difference was the presentation and delivery and I think it was great.
On Questing : there was an early quest where the player is given an aid kit to take to town, In a previous state a few weeks back, you could actually take this to a different npc to "give it to those that actually need it." completing that had the npc state they would be in touch later on. Similarly, there was a quest to get your adventuring pack , and there was a few different ways to get that accomplished. These were super cool, as it gave your a nice amount of options on how to tackle the quest. I havent found more of these yet, but I am hoping we see more.
@joaofernandes9458 Well, Unreal Engine 6 will come out, and they will need five years to migrate then find areas to improve so another 3. 17 years. If... UE7 doesn't come out in that timeframe.
I'd rather have your HONEST opinion based on personal experience and what others have told you. It's never easy to hear harsh things but it serves us better in the end. Honesty has a way of providing value that lying simply does not. It's a valuable lesson Star Citizen learned and I think it's serving them and the community well.
One small correction: I've been told by Pre-A2 testers that the quest givers are not the only quests that you can receive. They don't include commission quests, item pickup quests dropped by mobs, quest givers kind of "hidden" all over the place, events, etc. Apparently people have been able to level multiple nodes over the past few weeks, as the testing environment has actually not had any wipes in about a month. If having the large influx of players doesn't reveal a bunch of critical crash-type bugs (a long shot I know) then we might not have wipes every single weekend.
This video is a great step forward man. I think the main issue you’ve been running into is going overboard on opining about things you have no firsthand experience with, and then taking a really stubborn stance regarding the assumptions and unverified speculation you use for the foundations of those opinions. Content fodder has been a slow trickle the last few months, so I get it, but once we get into A2, I think you’ll find your step again. I would still suggest, however, that you try to open yourself up for debate and discussion with people you initially disagree with more often. I really don’t want to tell you how to run your business, or what’s best for you, but declining interviews with Steven was, by far, the biggest f-up in your career, and is exactly the sort of thing I’m talking about right now. We all have a great fondness for the videos of yours that led us to this point in ashes, and I hope we can take a more positive, civilized path back towards that content. You weren’t always the way you have been lately. You weren’t. Being positive doesn’t mean sacrificing the truth. It means offering helpful feedback and suggestions when things aren’t going well, rather than expletive laden insults over things you have no firsthand experience with.
Ashes A2 is f'in garbage and dragging other people into your mentally ill cult of pretending development is going well won't change that, Narc's coping and trying to focus on the positive for the sake of his bank balance and mental health but the A2 NDA lifting has revealed how unbelievably f'd this game is and you writing parasocial essays trying to force content creators to follow the cult script isn't gonna change reality, in a few days time non cultists will start playing/seeing the game and you're not ready for the negativity coming your way, your dream mmo dies
If the narc wasn't such a clown, he would definitely get a "better" offer. The level of devotion was great, but unfortunately so was the presentation of the circus.
NGL Throne and Liberty has kind of done most of what I expected AoC to bring to the table for me. Hope they can reach its level of polish with all the additional systems planned.
It's going to be buggy, broken, and will have very little content but that's okay. I did a couple tests and what mattered to me was once a game breaking bug was found how quickly they took action. They kept us in the loop as to when the servers would come down, when they'd be back up, and if there was a delay from that timeline we were told. Launch of alpha 2 won't be pretty but I have faith the team is doing everything they can to improve the experience. Don't judge it by what you see on Oct 25, judge it on what you see from the updates going forward after that date.
What a way to censor hunting and gathering pretty annoying having an unrealistic and sanitized method. Catering to an ideology of not trying to offend people ig vegans with not including animal slaughter when it's a natural consequence of life, the living need to feed on the living death is necessary.
So, all the spot tests were like that, but the last one ran over 2 weeks with no wipes. So expect only for the weekend, but I feel like that won't always be the case depending on the build.
My understanding about the areas looking different is that they have different builds. So testers have explored areas, then next week that area is removed. I do not know the reason for this, but I assume they have a lot more in the back and it either just does not work with what they have (mby buggy etc?) or they hide it for a reason because they do not want to sell this as a game but to make you understand that it is a testing phase and things can change etc.
It didn't, it had bugs when they wanted to present it. For people to use it more polish is needed and they use older, cut-down version in A2 version of the game. It's in development.
My understanding about the tank is people expect tank to be like in WoW where you just sit down and press buttons to taunt. Here it actually comes down to CC, Pull and kiting strategies to make it work. So people who are used to being Tanks that just sit and do nothing like in WoW expect to do a lot more in this game. Personally I love this, feels as a tank you finally doing something. But the big issue is leveling as a tank... Pretty much impossible doing alone
Do you even tank in WoW? If you just sit down and press taunts, all your group dies lol You need to position mobs, interrupt, stun, use mitigation, there's lots to it. Have you ever tanked M+ or Heroic/Mythic Raids?
Just watched another A1 tester who said stability is 90% where we'd want it and is quite good, however, no one really knows how things will hold up when 100,000 players dump onto the servers and try to squirm their way out of starting areas all at once. Expect a circus for the first few weekends at least.
this is great, i hope you keep up with this, i felt like it was a really balanced video, not being doomium while also not being optimistic just for the sake of being optimistic
@@Quix32 Maybe, looking at the confirmed talents I feel like greatsword cleric with the flaming blade talent would play incredibly if it had a melee strike. Could proc burning then stun smite conflagration in the sickest combo. I’d love for Templar to play as a melee off-healer but who knows.
Looking forward to everyone's feedback and to see what intrepid is able to do to address comments concerns criticisms etc. Assuming they are able to hold to the current plan and things go reasonably well over these next several months I'm looking forward to jumping in during phase three.
As someone that played the pre alpha tests... a lot more than the past two showcases are fake.... Remember the beautiful weather showcase they did? How gorgeous the game looked from that point to the more recent showcases? Yeah.... the game looks nothing like that. Ive been debating on if the game looks closer to alpha 1 quality or current dev showcases. As for the combat? My initial day of testing was for combat on a server meshing line. There were around 300 attendees split into 5 groups of 60 players. We were told to fight on server meshing lines. Mages were not supposed to cast. What i saw was players fully freezing in place.. spells lacking vfx effects resulting in grey pillars coming out of character models when said spells were cast and then the servers crashed within 2 minutes of mages casting when the time came. . . This was 60 people on my screen and 240 people in similar groups fighting in other areas simultaneously. So if 6 guilds are fighting all at once in different locations... expect the servers to crash.... unless of course they fixed it since i played (about a month ago)
@@Shadewalkin If I understand other testers correctly, they're constantly updating the live servers. If you last played a month ago, you have no idea how they progressed in that time.
@@Saiphel most of the things shown aren't working in the actual game, they essentially made isolated dev clients that only had the showcase system in that way all the server clients resources were just running that system, but when you bring those systems all together in the mmo it crashes and is unplayable
Honestly, the type of leveling experience you should have in a game like this for your first time through should be long enough to explore every zone. In a perfect world you should hit level cap in the last explored part of the last zone. Following alts can have some kind of bonus to the leveling experience. I'd imagine that they have a build system similar to WoW. They probably have an internal build 3 or 4 ahead of what the players are testing.
@@zeljakis817 i think if you look into what's actually releasing as A2 then you'd know this has absolutely no chance of even beginning to compete with Throne until 2035 at the earliest
The test which has been going on for awhile now has been progressing really well. I've wanted to like talk with people about it for awhile its really impressive if you've been apart of the NDA testing because they have been fixing bugs almost on an hourly basis and pretty large patches. The game state obviously won't be a playable state in terms of your gonna be experiencing everything that you wanted and its not early access quality. But they've been fixing a lot of game breaking bugs like money exploits and things which could ruin the gameplay if the game released. And the game has evolved a lot because a couple of weeks ago players all looked like one punch man walking through town and NPC's where clipping into buildings and now the game is feeling a lot better in towns and a lot of those bugs got stomped. I think at the very least getting into alpha will reignite the flames that people had for ashes while allowing them to provide feedback on how the classes can be further improved.
is there any info about if the game will have some sort of pet/companion system to help with auto looting? like if you pull a large group of enemies and instead of standing there to click anything you just kill and move on then the companion grabs the loot for you? also is this more of a 1on1 combat or is there a lot of aoe abilities to promote grouping up enemies?
Crazy how people: Pay $ to be a tester and on top put in 100s of hours into it. If they actually worked as a tester it would be free and they’d get paid 1000s for those 100s hours.🤦
So being real here. We have likely another 4-5 years before full release right? If I’m being optimistic i think based off what we know, we are looking at a 2028-2029 release. I’m keeping my expectations in check. Not at all annoyed by this. Will just let this all play out. I hope Alpha 2 is received well. I will be waiting until beta to finally drop before jumping into AoC. GLHF all!
@@XiLock_Alotx honestly 4-5 is not realistic for what Stevens vision is, it would take 10+ years for that, if I had to put money on it I'd say they will eventually abandon the scope and plan of the project and dial it back to a much smaller world and set of features, probably 4-5 biomes and then call it done
To me it’s not a huge deal if the classes are lacking at the moment as we can provide that feedback (maybe more so in later phase) and j was expecting this concern in the alpha. from what I’ve heard and read the Mage fighter and ranger especially feel very good and are fun to play. I also have read that a few people say cleric needs improving but it is decent and you feel very important 😅 I agree that I am all for a 100 hour level curve but for the initial phase should be less, but I guess if anything I’ll wait to test higher levels in phase 2 or 3 as I’m also just very excited to explore the entirety of the map we have. But yea from what I’ve seen from people talking about it so far it overall seems quite promising (for an alpha) and people are enjoying it.
*slowly staggers in* .... sorry copium dealer... it's been many years....a...aaand...yo ..yo...you know im g...goo...ggood for it. * falls to a knee* i just wanted to let you know, I'll be getting the real thing come Friday... no more of your top shelf. So... * stands back up* just know, it's been real. 🥀😝
congratz narc, first video I gave a like to in like the last 7 videos. This felt informative, no constant talking about how the game is a scam, imagine putting your heart and soul into your business/passion project just for some guy online to constantly demean your work and call it fake in every video. Bread and butter info, neutral to slight foward thinking outlook for the 25th with some critical feedback as needed. A+
I watch this channel because I trust that you're honest. I have that trust because you built authority over YEARS. I don't trust ANY of the other ashes channels.
Imagine having different versions of a software product so you can sufficiently isolate bugs and rule out externalities caused from other features you aren't testing. That would be smart right?
Well, let me chime im here. Its an Alpha...bugs? Yes Frustrating at times? Yes But can you see the end game and what their shooting for? Yes! The Riverlands is massive...friggin huge! Ive been in testing since the first group. I was a bit worried then, now i dont. The improvements they've made is completely staggering, and their response time is amazing. Even since ive been in since the start ive yet to see every inch of the Riverlands. There is NO way 1 guild is going to run a server. You can bury that question and forget it. World wise its gorgeous, jaw droppingly beautiful and the desert is breathtaking! I think you will have a great time, bud. Ive had a blast and will continue to! One last note and please remember this. Bears and Wolves are NOT your friends! Dem wolves be da devil! I hope you and your mates have a grand time!
Very glad Intrepid dropped this NDA. Shows their confidence. It’s our last chance as a community to set/subvert expectations for this test. Excited to share my thoughts after playing.
@@CestPasFaux-kt9zq so let me get this straight. You have 50+ hate comments on my channel. I’ve seen you comment on other creators videos as well. And now you comment under my comment on someone else’s video? Over a game you dislike and/or think is a scam? Bro you need to go outside and reset your RU-vid algorithm so it suggest you something that you’re actually into. This can’t be healthy. This is like watching golf all day to complain about golf 🤡
Is the community finally ready to admit they had to scrap just about everything when they moved to UE5? The only way this isn't true is if the older fleshed out biomes from the footage from years ago was a fat lie to begin with. So.... you all tell me which is the case....
No you nailed it dude, they probably flushed millions of dollars of man hours down the drain because UE5 doesn't import the same assets as UE4. It just makes total sense. See, why doesn't Steven hire commenters like you who clearly know better than him? Or better yet let them run the studio? Clearly we're all more experienced engineers than any of them
@@Quix32 Your snark is meaningless in the fact that the current game is garbage, and the biomes are clearly not what was shown years ago. But keep thinking what you want, I'll stick to facts.
@@7F0X7 The current game in alpha is garbage?? Dude you don't say?! The assets used for the biomes definitely got deleted dude. They totally scrapped all of it just to make us feel worse about the game. It's definitely not cause they're waiting to fill it with content to add it to the live version of the alpha or something like that. 🤡
Very little content, runs smoother than weeks ago, very grindy, if you have the fkn balls to craft at high level I salute you it's a slog, pop is pretty good, game feels good to move. Quest are basic as fk. Node system look great, it's gona be awesome. World is bigggggggg asks fkkkk Jesus it big, mounts are mandatory.
It's a testament of how severely mentally ill Ashes of Creation fans are that they label Narc a hater and doomer when he produces utterly cope'd out the wazoo videos like this, anyone who was in this stream knows the vast majority of feedback from A2 NDA players was absolutely damming and fell far below even Narc's own expectations in almost every area, in a few days time this game will be judged by the mmo community after 8 years of waiting and it's gonna be a wave of negativity you cultists can't silence or escape from.
Wow, it sounds far, far worse than I expected. 8 years and they have even less content than Scam Citizen? How does anyone (reasonable) justify this? No wonder Steven lashed out on Narc. He's getting preemptively defensive because he knows he has backlash coming his way. So much for the last hope of mmos...
@@Edg30fd3w0r1d come on man, that cant be that tough to integrate, I recently played a game with out it, and it had me so fucked up trying to re learn the basic movement, then it came into the game and I was fucked up again, although way easier to go back.
@@joshfullbright7678 nobody said it was tough to integrate. I said it's not the focus of an alpha. The focus of an alpha isn't the easy stuff, but the hard stuff. If the hard stuff works, then it's smooth sailing to the finish line.
My thought is that they are testing the bare systems for functionality in combination with the other techs AND more people at one time. Those that think they were lying are not paying attention, because they didn't have more than 10 people on a server for showcases. When adding more than 10 people, you'd use a less finished world to test. Less objects to track. And that's what Phase 1 is, tech ramp up and testing, adding more people to the new stuff over time. THEN adding more stuff to the world to get it back to where the demos were. To me that all makes sense. The improvements from the start of spot test to this weekend were immense. Plus they fixed many bugs. Lumin is still an issue, but that's harder to deal with, as it's baked in. I cut them a lot of slack for these things. I still say Spring 2027 release. My guess of A2 in Sept 2024 three years ago was "almost" on track.
