I'm glad you're doing fine man. I'm just passively following AoC because it's too much cope for me to not enjoy my life with other games and obsess over something that doesn't exist yet. I'm pretty sure I've had multiple games backed on KS and sent out to me fine already through when I started following back in 2020 or whenever that Lazypeon video came out to spark interest. I find the community weird because how do you not see yourself attacking someone for a game that doesn't exist and find it weird. Is it cause their whole personality became just this nonexistent game and is now part of their livelihood? Maybe. But it's weird nonetheless. I'm just rambling, I'll maybe check out the alpha section I have access to... which I don't know where I do, but I eventually will I guess? Edit: Oh they added that option to upgrade. Fuck bro why'd I upgrade for more than that like years ago then lmao. I guess I got more sub time, what a swell deal kekw
You're getting too caught up in this. It's just a game. People will forget all of this when the game is released. At the end of the day, what really matters is the quality of the game. People might complain now, but they'll still buy in-game items or early access if they can afford it. And if they can't, that's fine-they just have to wait.
I started to look at game with doubt after they started selling these cosmetics "limited time only". At this stage i think that greed has won, i wonder will this be another star citizen story

Lol. I don't believe any game is coming out anymore until its landed on the shelves. Virtual or physical. None of these idiots attacking you seem to remember the chronicles of Elyria scam, dream world scam, arch age rug pulls of constant p2w shiz from other mmos, etc. etc. AOC is just as susceptible to the same scummy shiz as other game companies that make MMOs or other style of games. I believe AOC getting criticism along its journey is a healthy reality check. If everyone, especially including content creator simps, become "yes men" it'll just inflate the ego to potentially go in the wrong direction and not actually make a game for players.
Let's get that beach bod (or atleast dadbod) goal. We gotta stay healthy til the game releases. Im gonna wait for actual release. I do hope they keep the game simpler for release, it already feels complicated with how escorting transport works.
Its both sides... I think there is extremists defending ashes and those that exist to make fun of and bully those that just wanna help out. The amount of people calling people boot lickers simply because they want to help test the game and make a good mmorpg. A lot of those people just really want to see ashes of creation succeed and have disposable income to try and be helpful. I will say its annoying to listen to people like asmongolds take on people donating money to this game and getting nothing in return when his entire revenue stream is from subscribers who literally get nothing to be subscribed. Thats just a personal peeve of mine that doesn't really matter
the wiki scholars have to be the most insufferable assholes on the forums. They've spent days of their life pouring over wiki pages for a P that doesn't exist and what do they choose to do with this hoarde of niche knowledge? That's right, ridicule people with it. People who would dare to speak their hideous voices in the hallowed halls of the wiki scholars.
An MMO is probably the most expensive type of game there is to develop and people are here complaining about the price they are asking for supporter packs and alphas. If you find it expensive for you, don't buy it. It it will reasonable when it launches. I would like a Porsche too, maybe I should send an email to them complaining about their prices.
I still believe in the potential of the game, but i wouldnt follow half the news without your content. If the game failed, I'd still watch your content regardless. Kudos.

The community for Ashes isn't the problem, it's the dozens of small youtubers who think if they build a community early enough they will be able to ride Ashes to a high sub count for little effort. They're all trying to one-up each by shrieking louder, making more click-baity thumbnails and titles, straight up lying about what's happening, generating any controversy they can think of even if it isn't something controversial, anything they can do to set themselves apart. Narc isn't any different, and he certainly isn't any better. He's just trying to stir shit up so Ashes stays relevant even though it won't launch for another two years. I mean come on, 24 videos in the past month on Ashes of Creation on this channel when nothing is happening? Really? Talk about lazy youtubers, lol. Frankly it's just pathetic to see, but I expect nothing more from them these days. It would be amazing if when the game launches Intrepid just started banning the streamers and youtubers who have been bashing them for years since we all know these losers are going to spend thousands of hours in the game. Maybe it would help out the devs working on the next big game if these parasites knew they wouldn't get to make money off the game. After all, why play it and make content for it if it's so bad?

People are just too jumpy about this game and we end up discussing the same crap every time a new phase comes up. They have discussed before.. do not spend money on this game if you dont have it the game is funded, and any money they do make is gravy on top/gatekeeping for serious testers. Secondly they dont want people going into the testing phases expecting a full game. Ive been sceptial of this "game" since Ive heard of it. I get its a go fundme mmo and they dont have a great track record of coming out. So ill just wait for a release before I support the studio. Until then ill just be an observer
First rule never ever buy pre orders, beta/alpha access when you dont even know if the game is real, them asking for money for people to do a bug testing for them is kinda of a scam and to make aware u wont be free to explore much cause they will have a limit area of testing so idk makes it feel a bit odd, this development has been a bit weird and microtransactions so far have been petty, for a dev leader saying we got enough money to finish the game etc to suddenly asking for money for people to buy a bug test place which makes no sense.

Now I realized that it actually exists, rent-free in Narc's head with all of its 200 employees with plenty of space for more. How can Steven Sharif fail with such a benefactor? Now you're acting like they shot a dog. The packages pay for server uptime during testing, like plenty of other games in "early access". The fact the community is poor is their problem. What they also are, is stupid. Intrepid is selling keys to an alpha that the community cried about when the keys closed last year. Reap what you sow and all that. Anyways, you're clearly going through something and being irrational, so lost my subs.
but the hateful "constructive" arguments would make sense if it took into account the logic of both sides behind their actions, but you people only say "this is outrageous and it's wrong" without any meaning behind it, there's no dissertation here, it's pure shit-talk of high school dropouts it seems like. Of course if everything was free for everyone it would all be nice, who doesn't like some utopian communism, but this is basically a closed alpha with limited amount of server capacity, they can't just give it out for free to millions of people, of course they could've chosen to do a lottery for the alpha keys or whatever but how is luck any better than just paying? From both a customer pov as well as from a company pov, if they can choose a lucrative way of spreading a controlled number of alpha keys for the CLOSED alpha then that's the most logical way of running a business. Next, it's clearly voluntary, intrepid isn't sneaking their hands into your bank account to make you play a phase 1 with relativally few features, if you only wanna play the phase 3 or even just the beta later you can choose to do that, that's depending on the impatience of the person and their economic status, it's really not that deep, no one is entitled to anything for free other than basic needs for surviving, this is a goddamn game and ppl are acting like it's depriving them of life-force. Be serious for a moment, and until someone can refute these very simple basic arguments all the debate is pointless.

A couple years ago yours was the first AoC channel that I found and followed. Stayed for a hard to describe feeling, something around that I like your humor and style of videos. Always kind of thought you would defend it to its end, that you'd be one of the deluded people ACTUALLY high on copium. Glad to find out that you're actually the reasonable faction here. When it comes to AoC itself I had a limited sort of optimism that things might work out well in the end. But that's now gone.
I honestly think that your views and comments are generally all ways right on point. The knowledge of the this community is great. The feedback is on point to. I watch lots of different content creators as i get board and why not see what other people say. Its clear to me there is 3 different types of content creators....One group like you that pushes the messages of the game and provide honest and open feedback. A second group that only seem to capture 1 or 2 key points from live streams but they still miss represent that message as they dont understand the full information provided and then there is a 3rd group that dosnt follow the game at all but still report on it from time to time but dont really have any knowledge and try to compair it to other games they like and think the game is something completely different to what it is acutally. But hey i am just some aussie guy....
Honestly man, there's so much opinion for something that we can't physically touch yet. We don't know the scope of almost every mechanics, which could be beautifully in-depth or disapointingly shallow. The community really needs to be patient, let them cook and don't throw money into a project you're not inspired for. We get to fuck around with it in a few months to really see the fruits of Intrepids labour. Let that speak rather than pure speculation. Not directed at you Narc, I only discovered your content after the harrowingly doomed reaction a vocal community had and looking to ride the copium train to share a level of excitement being the first time we actually get to fuck with the systems they've been selectively showcasing since getting the kickstarter. It's wild how I feel like the odd one out?
