MaryCarl is a beautiful young woman. So forgiving. I Understand her thought of it being the circle of life. but still is hard when you have raised them pigeons and spent so much time with them. I give her a lot of props. you and Jason have raised a very beautiful loving caring daughter, and I enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your farm life with us
MaryCarl sorry to hear about your birds. You have a mature attitude and you're an awesome young lady. Great job sharing the story with us, Brooke. Glad to hear DeeDee enjoying her kangaroo pouch 😊😊🥰🥰
So sorry Mary Carl lost two of her pigeons. Maybe you could put a piece of plexiglass up there and the pigeons can still look out... I'm glad that Dede enjoys her new mode of transportation, she just loves being close to you Brooke🤗
Hawks, racoons and numerous predators will go right through netting and chicken wire..hardware cloth is the best for protection on your coops! I would have thought your coop was safe. I'm like you I would have never imagined a hawk being able to get a bird! So sorry MC lost a pigeon!
So sorry MaryCarl lost one of her birds. I love seeing the hawks here in Kansas but not at my bird feeders. There is one road I travel about 30 miles from my house. I count the hawks along the way. There will be 25 to 30 hawks. It's all pasture land love to see them. Maybe you could put hardware cloth to cover the flight door. That way the birds can still look out. They are so beautiful. ❤❤
Yes. So sad for Mary Carl. Unfortunately they say chicken wire mesh is only good at keeping chickens in but not predators out. Hardware cloth is becoming the standard for coop building. If you go to ¼", even keep snakes out. I live in Wisconsin. I've seen hawk dive into shrub to pick off small song birds like chickadees and sparrows. Suburban "rural" areas you see all sorts of wild life interaction. We even have coyotes out here on the Northern side of Milwaukee County
You’re right. Hardware cloth is the way to go for any type of outdoor bird enclosure or run. It should also be attached to the wood with screws and washers to prevent other predators like raccoons.
Brooke, if you have more of the what you put round the pigeon purple palace, put it on the small door where the hawk got that pigeon. I am sorry that two of MaryCarl’s pigeons were lost. That way, the pigeons will still be able to look out of their spot.
I’m with you Brooke! I know birds of prey have to eat but they can go elsewhere in my book. I live in town and have two chickens and one outside cat. The cat watched after the chickens when they are out in the yard which is every day it’s not raining. If I’m at the store, which is only 2 miles from my house and see a hawk, I call my husband to tell him to be on the lookout! So sorry for the loss of MC’s bird….at least the problem was caught and fixed. Good job Mama!🥰🕊️
So very sorry for the loss of your sweet birds 😢 Unfortunately, that's how we learn... the hard way 😢 Hopefully, the predator birds will move along once they see it's too difficult to get to your birds. Thank you so much for sharing your "leftovers" with Catherine... she's such an amazing person and y'all are completely awesome for helping her out! Looking forward to seeing you again in April! Hugs to you all! Launda ❤
Hi Brooke. So glad the main coop is covered. Cannot believe this would of happened there. Glad you were able to see and do something about it. So sorry MaryCarl your showing a very mature attitude and have a great understanding of the circle of life. Glad they are all safe now. Lots of love and prayers. Take care God Bless. 💕🙏
Brooke, would putting a piece of that heavy hardware cloth over that area rather than the piece of wood be an option? They'd be able to see out their little window then. Just thinking out loud.😊 I'm so sorry the pigeon did not survive.🙁
Hi Brooke. 😢 for Mary Carl. Perhaps you could tie wrap hardware cloth on the outside of the swinging door or staple it to the wood frame so the pigeons can still sit up top and look out. Just a thought. They really seem to like that perch.
I'm so sorry for your loss 💔 Maybe put a piece of plexiglass instead of something they can't see thru? That way they can still enjoy their view? Just a thought. I love y'all ❤️🕊🐦
Plz tell MaryCarl we are so sorry for the loss of the two pigeons. It’s so sad. Thank you Brooke for sharing this with us. Much love to you, your family and all the animals. God Bless you all. 🙏❤️✝️🥰🤗😢🙏
Good morning Brooke and thank you for your wonderful smile that brightens our day. Sorry to hear about the circle of life incidents, thank God and your Family’s Guardianship that MaryCarl is able to deal with loss. I’m thinking why not place some of the heavy steel mesh over the pigeons gate door and move the ledge they like sitting on a little further back. That way they would remain safe and still enjoy the advantages of their perch view are in front of the swinging door. DeDe sure loves being a Hipster and your bond with her is so awesome. 😀👍🕊️👍🕊️👍🕊️
Brooke, it's clear your heart aches for your daughter's loss. I'm so sorry this happened, but you are right, this is the natural order of things and something we cannot change. We learn and sometimes we grieve and we move on.
MaryCarl is amazing! She's an Earth Angel, some would say an "old soul", wise beyond her years. You and Jason must be so proud of her, beautiful, highly intelligent, and incredibly sweet!
I am so sorry for the loss of Marycarl’s 2 birds. I have to watch my teacup poodle closely in the spring and fall. She is only 6 pounds and I have to check the sky before we go out.
Instead of a board to block their view, get the wire netting like you have on the outside of the Aviary! You would just need a small piece and you can remove it when you need to! That way they can still look out, but nothing can reach them!
I'm so sorry that happened. I am so proud of Mary Carl's ability to love despite the loss. I lost most of my chickens to hawks last year and it tore me up.
Also any that established nest sights will be fledging and teaching them come Feb and March so the aerial theat will double/triple depending on how successful they were. Probably best to except permanent captivity than heavy losses. All the best from a wildlife bird observer of going on 65+ years. 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
Happy Thursday Brooke ❤❤ I'm so sorry 😞 about losing Mary Carl's pigeons 😢 ..I'm like you Brooke it is sad and still makes you feel angry ❤❤Much love from Toledo OH 13:10
😢 Mary Karl I am so sorry for your loss I'm proud of you you're an amazing young lady keep up all your good work that you do with your pigeons and things will get better but my thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family
It’s so hard to keep everyone safe but Nature has a way of providing. Watch the catch on that door, they’ll unlock that too if it’s a hook. I’d double the wire on top of the Aviary or put something on top, maybe moving things or another layer of screen. I’m sorry Marycarl, I use to breed birds myself( parrots) and sometimes we lose them, but, ultimately it is not our choice no matter how hard we try. You’ve done a wonderful job being a Caretaker, just keep going as you have others that need you.
I am sad for Mary Carl. I am so impressed by her maturity. Brooke you are so sweet. I appreciate how you share things here in Videos. No Hawks Allowed made me giggle.
So sorry for MaryCarl's loss of two pigeons. Very sad for her to have to face that. By the way the pouch for Dee Dee is wonderful and you can save wear and tear on her little old legs. Love you all!!💕🕊
It's hard as a mom to not be upset by her losing a couple birds. You know how much time and love she gives them. At least now they have more protection and are safe. Sorry to MaryCarl for her loss!
Brooke may I suggest to put a clear Plexiglass or Acrylic Sheet instead of wood? If thick enough it would be as safe as wood and it wouldn't block the view as much for the pigeons. Thank you for your videos. I love your channel, your main channel with Jason and the kids channel too. :) All the best to you and your family & all your animals. Bless you all
Im so sorry MaryCarl lost 2 of her pigeons. Im glad she's a mature young lady like she is. It still hurts but you can handle it better. Good job Mama trying to keep her birds alive. Blessings on Your Family 🙏🙏🌹 Love 🌻 from Apex NC 💜
The problem with predators is once they think they've found an easy meal, they'll try their luck for as long as possible. I'm glad Cheese seems to be keeping all the chickens safe.
MaryCarl, so sorry you lost another pigeon but so cool that you understand. You are such a wonderful young lady who loves burds and now youblove to do bird photography. Please have fun. Thanks 😊
I live in Norfolk, Virginia, we have a large hawk and eagle presence and have small dogs. One day one of the dogs was missing from our fenced backyard. We can only assume one of those birds stole him. I am sad for MaryCarl’s loss. I’m impressed with her attitude towards her loss, very mature, she’s such a lovely, caring young lady. Prayers 🙏
